No more Re-Hitching?????

We are heading down to WDW next week and were planning to do the Character desert at Garden Grill. I had previously read where you could get 're-hitched' in an informal ceremony there. It will be our 14th anniversay that day and I thought I would surprise my wife with this. However, Disney reservations said they no longer do this. Has anyone gotten 're-hitched' lately at the Garden Grill??

Disney actually told you they werent doing it? I was hoping it was an incorrect rumor. Thats so sad. My parents did it in December.

Disney how much this is going to be missed.Enough folks contact them and I think they would bring it back.

Perhaps the CM just meant they don't do it during the Ice Cream Social anymore. I thought you could get it done during the Garden Grill character dinner, maybe the lunch too.

I did not ask about other meals. I would think the ceremony would not be any more trouble at the Ice Cream Social than at any other time.

Do any CMs watch the boards here? Can you give us a definitive answer on this?

Also, to anyone who has done this: Have you posted the 'certificate' online anywhere? I am curious as to what it looks like.

I spoke with Disney reservations again. The reservations person spent some time on the phone with Garden Grill. The answer I got was that they were honoring any 're-hitching' requests for days up to Sept 27. The ceremony has not been performed since then (at least that is the impression I got). I don't think she meant they took reservations for future dates up to that point.

So, has anyone made a reservation, or gotten 're-hitched' since the beginning of October??

How sad if this is true! We dont have plans to do it again, but last year it was amazing!

I have read different accounts of what people get or dont get but I can tell you we got it all!

Mickey and Goofy were there for the ceremony, the CMs took photos, DD (5) took video, we got a cake with a pic of Mickey on it, and a certificate! It was a highlight of the trip.

Oh, I hope they bring it back!

We ate at Garden Grill last Friday, and I had requested the Rehitching Ceremony when I made the PS, and the CM told me it was noted when I confirmed the PS later on. I forgot to ask for it when I checked in for dinner and didn't think to ask our server, and we didn't get it. I didn't remember until we were back outside or else I would have asked.

Here's an update - I asked the CM at the Garden Grill desk when we showed up and she said they did still do this. We were rehitched (Oct 11) and received the certificate as well. So, don't give up until you have actually asked at the Garden Grill. It looks like they are still doing this.

Sorry to hear that Lisaes. Seems that reservations isn't the only one that is inconsistent on this. The ceremony wasn't anything to brag about. Given the layout of the resteraunt, only the nearest few tables could even tell something was going on. One waiter 'announced' loudly that we were getting rehitched. Mickey, who was in the place, didn't make it over for the ceremony. Although, while we didn't kiss, Chip did come over right at that point in the ceremony and planted one on the wife (at least as well as a costumed chipmunk can kiss). The certificate is cute and will make a nice keepsake.

For everyone else, I guess I would suggest pressing the issue a little if the desk at Garden Grill tells you they don't do this. The girl I talked to recognized it immediately and noted it on the card.

Lastly, ARE THERE ANY CMS OUT THERE WHO CAN ENLIGHTEN US ON THE OFFICIAL POSITION HERE????????
