On our last trip I noticed the construction of another golf cart parking lot at the marina..

Personally I have no problem with golf carts but it seems they are taking over the marina area...

I can sense the begining of the end for private carts......

How do you "twist" the construction of another golf cart parking lot into a thread called No more private golf carts. :confused3 :confused3 Just because they are constructing another parking lot doesn't mean that they are going to eliminate privately-owned carts. Just what we need -- more negative rumors posted.

Sorry to offend..

Just makes ya wonder what they are up to.......

I thought by constructing another lot they can limit the amount of carts that park there....

Removing the congestion of all carts(private and rented) on the path to the marina....

Not to mention the revenue lost to the private or off site cart rental companies....>>>------->

when was your last visit?? are they just building a new parking lot or adding a place to plug in the carts as well?

I was last there in early feb..

Location is to your right if you are heading to the boats near the beach...:beach:

I believe there are plugs there for electric carts...

Personally, I think that the cart rentals have become so popular that they need the extra parking space because they rent so many now. But I do not think they will stop the allowance of private carts. At least I hope they never do or I wasted a boat load of money on mine.:thumbsup2

I agree....

I think they could do a alot better with the congestion on the foot path...

They seem out of place all along the trail....

I thought we had a poster that was disallowed his private cart due to its size..

Does the fort have restrictions on size gas/electric??

I have seen some that really are not considered golf carts and I think they may start cracking down on those. I saw a Polaris Ranger XP there during last Christmas and it was not there for business. I happen to own one of those also for hunting and they go 40+mph. I don't know if he ever got caught or not but I know they are not allowed. I have seen more and more motorized scooters too that are being used to putt around the campground and they are not allowed either. Disney needs to crack down on these type abuses before all private stuff gets banned.

Gas or electric golf carts & electric type scooters are only are allowed and should be allowed. Motorcycles are fine if used to come in and out of the campground only.

There has been a new area to park carts at the marina off to the right as you walk down the path to the marina for a while now. They also added the parking up front and the parking at the settlement bus area a while ago. I think Disney has increased their own fleet of carts and just need more room for everyone to park.

The neighborhood type vehicles are allowed but only on the roads, not any of the paths.

Yes, he has a Gem car, which is an electric neighborhood vehicle, they are street legal and have a lot more speed than your typical golf car and are larger in size as well, as mentioned they ar eallowed on roads but not the paths or sidewalks. here is a link to the most recent set of cart rules (that i'm aware of - they can change at any time)

This golf cart parking lot has been there since I believe early last year sometime.

I for one am all for it, there is nothing more annoying than getting to the marina and not having a single place to park the golf cart.

As another poster said, Disney has almost doubled it's golf cart fleet, there are many more available. Because of this, they almost had to build more parking, otherwise it would have been ridiculous to try to find a spot.

I don't think they're getting rid of private golf carts because of a parking lot :/

DW and I wouldn't mind at all if golf carts, motorized scooters and such were banned from FW.

I almost got sick reading the title but then was smart enough to read the thread.........

I've heard this from more than one also....

Hopefully they can get a grip on the situation before priviledges are lost....:sad1:

I personally would like to see Disney enforce the rules already in place, rather than ban carts. I can see where there is a potential for them to lose control of the parking situation unless outside carts are banned, however.

Ok, seriously people, the golf carts aren't going anywhere. They are a HUGE money maker for Fort Wilderness, why do you think they just doubled the size of their golf cart fleet?

Disney might at one point ban outside golf carts, that is anyone's guess. They would also have to deal with a lot of angry people if they did that, so it's up to them if they care enough. They wouldn't be banning them because they care that people don't like them, or that it's too crowded (although that would be a factor), they would ban them to make more money. Since they are, after all, a business.

But come on, all golf carts are NOT going to get banned, no matter how much some people hate them. I mean, those things have minimal upkeep, and they charge 40 bucks a day for them. I don't even want to know the amount of profit margin they have on those carts.

Just what we need -- more negative rumors posted.

I believe that poster says it all. Always the same too...hmmm :P

considering they probably pay $5, maybe 6g's for the carts, they make their money back in about 1/3 year on them..... one of the biggest moneymakers in the park.

In feb. I saw a private cart that had three bench seats....It looked and was as long as a limo:rotfl:
