I just got back yesterday afternoon from a 9 night stay at pop. I must say that I had a great time in the World for the most part but my DH and I agreed that we will not stay at another value resort.

First let me start by saying I stayed at pop last year and LOVED it, so it was easy to decide to stay there again. Well this year we saw a lot of people acting like they were the only ones staying there (trying to put this as nice as I can). I mean the people two doors down to us hung out there UNDERWARE outside for all to see. Who puts there panties and bathing suits to dry outside on the railing like that:confused3 :confused3 . They also hung out towels that often ended up ALL OVER the ground, and would stay there all day long and end up back on the ground the next day.

There was pushing, cutting in line, rudeness (one night I was on my way to the bus stop at the MK and as I was in the start of the line and a family comes running past me to get in front!!!!!!! My DH who was a little behind said the father pushed a little kid to get ahead!!! WHO DOES THAT???? We were upset.

I don’t know if it will be any better anywhere else but the other resorts we visited never felt the same as pop in terms of the way people were acting.

Pop is a value for me and my family and it enables me to go to Disney for several days but next year I have booked POFQ for 7 days instead of 10. We had such a bad time at pop that we would rather pay more and stay less time than to go back. My DH said if there are any deals then we will stay at the poly or wilderness lodge, before I could never justify the price but now I can.

I am very sorry that you ran into a bunch of inconsiderate boors at POP. I heard that last week was very, very busy at WDW and big crowds bring out the worst selfish behavior in some people. My guess is that POP was not the only resort filled with rude people and that they could be found at all levels of resorts.

Enjoy your next trip at POFQ! It's a great resort and is one of the most laid back of all of them :).

FWIW, you should have reported the underwear/towel hangers to the front desk. Disney does not allow that kind of thing at any of their resorts.

Sorry to hear! We loved POP last year....just remember...it was the PEOPLE staying at POP:) However, like your idea abt your next trip! I am the same way! I dislike the rail/balcony hangers!! UGH! That would have bothered me as well! I am sure you will love POFQ!!

so sorry. neighbors can make your trip instead of the relaxing vacation you hoped for a mob scene.

sorry about that. It has happen to us a time or two. so understand completely but as disneybride and robin point out it was not Pop - but the other people.

some society don't work the way ours do - and what is rude here is not even consider a problem there. WDW is a world vacation spot - not just a USA one.

of course I am probably worst - if I seem that man pushing his kids - might have just accidentally of course, put my leg out where he might just trip.:rolleyes1

of course it would have been an accident....

my worst time are at the park trying to get out. you would be surprised at how many people will try to block you. Folks trying to get out - don't want your place just want out!!!!

Sorry for your bad experience.

I'm absolutely sure you will have a much better time at a moderate or a deluxe. We all know there are never any rude or inconsiderate people at those resorts. All those people stay at the value resorts.

people at POR. We had "neighbors" that would come back to the room about 11:00PM and made major noise till 2:00AM. Also they would put the do not disturb sign in the door all the time, even when they were away for the day. The maid would hang their clean towels in a bag on the outside of the door. I know there were more than 4 people in the room, and I am thinking they didn't want the maid inside because they didn't want to get caught.

Also, we encountered another group that ignored the no smoking policy. When we passed their room they had the door open and it STANK so bad from smoke. And we had to walk around them a few times because they just 'hung' out in the walkways, and they didn't even give us room to pass by.

So if you liked POP before you shouldn't judge the resort by the guests, because you can surely get those same quests at any resort.

I can personally attest to that. I just returned from 10 days in China and the people of Hong Kong are the pushiest bunch I have ever met! My elbows were literally sharpened by day 3 and I tried to act like a local, LOL. Our visit to Hong Kong Disneyland was a hoot! The stampede for seats in Mickey's Philharmagic was incredible and EVERYONE in front stopped and seated themselves half way through the row in the best seats that they just pushed and shoved for. That's just the way it is there :confused3.

:lmao: We were at Pop 8/23 - 9/1 and saw alot of the same behavior. We had a neighbor that used the luggage rack as a drying rack for his underwear. We had to walk around it two morning in a row. People will do anything!

I do have to second the other person that it is the people not the resort. We saw people just as rude at the GF. I just about lost my cool a couple of times. Mine was at the soda fountain when as I was filling a cup someone shoved my arm out of the way so they could get in. Diet coke went everywhere!

I don't know what the answer is but I know I have to keep my cool so I don't end up acting like them. I tried to counter with politeness/positive reinforcement to another person/family doing the right thing. ie. If kids we acting well, I would let them go ahead of me.

Wow, my dad would say they were rude, crude, and socially unacceptable!:lmao: :lmao:

I too agree you may find rude anywhere...............but I agree about trying somewhere new. Even condos on the beach have rules against hanging your towels off the railing.......geez!!

My biggest pet peeve is people getting on an elevator jumping on in front of you before you can get off..............WHY WHY WHY do they do that?:confused3

Boy I hope you are kidding????:confused3 :confused3 popcorn:: popcorn::

 I'm about to leave in 2 days for a 9 night stay at POP. I'm a little afraid now. This will be our first time staying there. I hope we don't encounter all the rudeness. I'm sorry you had to put up with those kind of people. I hate it when thoughtless people ruin the whole experiance for everyone around them! :headache:

You know, or you “know”? Because, frankly, (and I’m not telling anyone else to do this!) if I were sure any hotel room exceeded its posted occupancy, on one of my discussions with the hotel staff I would be sure to mention it.

Everytime I read something like this it makes me think - Who in the world would do something like that? Who are these people?

one of the good things about deluxes ...they have private balconies,so if your neighbor decides to air their dirt laundry, you probably wouldn't even know. try for wl next time, its a nice resort. we drove past pop once and it looked loud and crazy. i know pop has many fans but i am not surprised at the bad stories we hear about it. good luck next trip.

I wouldn't worry, I have stayed at POP twice and never once had a problem like this, I am staying there again in October and have NO intention of moving. Rude people can be found anywhere. I do feel bad for anyone who has a bad experience at any of the resorts, its Disney so of coarse we expect the best!

I'm sorry you had such a disappointing stay. It is always a bummer to have anything put a damper on a vacation.

Rude people are at every resort in every season. My husband had to ask two men to stop hurling f-bombs at each other in the "quiet" pool at the Wilderness Lodge Villas last January. There were several families with small children and these two guys started going at it over the ducks - one guys kids' started tormenting the ducks and the other asked them to stop. One man started insulting the heft of the other man's family, the other man started insulting the intelligence of the other's children - it went on and on. My DH finally asked them to take it elsewhere as there were children in the pool who didn't need to hear that kind of language. They both grumbled at each other, but they shut up.

And you know, I had no idea that I wasn't allowed to hang my swimsuit up outside on the rails. We stayed at OKW this summer and our room didn't have one of those clothes lines in the shower, so we had our swimsuits hanging over chairs on the verandah nearly every day. In fact, I saw lots of swimming suits on chairs. It never even occurred to me that this was insulting or banned on Disney property.

On the near-fisticuffs: wow! That's proof alone that rude people can be found at all levels of the resorts.

On the bathing suits drying on chairs: I totally agree with you. I can understand that underwear would be tacky in front of everyone, but we usually put our bathing suits on our deck/balcony chairs. I'm sure many people see this, but we paid for the room and the balcony, and we're talking about swimsuits, not underwear. I don't consider this rude at all. It's much easier and faster to leave this stuff outside to dry than to have it draped in my shower, preventing its use, while we shower off the pool chemicals.

i think the op was referring to the swimsuits/underwear drying on the walkway balconies...so when you walk to your room, you have to pass them or go around them. also the op was speaking of drying racks also in the walkways. i can see where that would be offensive.

correction i reread the post and didn't see anything about drying racks. but towels left to dry and then forgotten about and undies drying on shared balconies is just gross and rude.
