I am soooo upset. I was at WWOHP on 1/4 and I had ressies at Mythos for lunch. I was super excited because I had lunch at Mythos in August and loved the Blueberry Pistachio Crusted Pork . OMG :cloud9: It was AMAZING!!! To get a dish this incredible in a theme park UNBELEIVABLE. So I went to Mythos and THEY TOOK IT OFF THE MENU!!! I couldn't believe it. I stayed but it IMHO is just OK. I thought having an amazing pork dish really set it apart from other places. Everyone does burgers, flatbreads, steak yawn. So I don't think I'll go back again. I'll try somewhere else.

Did you ask why it's no longer on the menu? Did they replace it with something else?

The waitress told me rather abruptly that it was off the menu and the chef no longer makes it. No real explaination. She gave me the impression that it was very popular and people still ask for it but its gone.

It was off the menu when I ate there a few weeks ago as well. ended up getting Mythos Bistro Filet which was a lot better IMO.

The Mythos menu goes through changes frequently...there are MANY dishes they no longer have that I wish they would bring back (and sometimes they do) but I always seem to find another dish that I love

Most "better" restaurants change their menus seasonally. After all...the chef likes to be creative and introduce new things. Even though an old favorite may not be on the menu at Mythos, I always manage to find something new to love there!

Another possibility is that Mythos is going through the same transition that a lot of WDW restaurants went through ten years ago, recognizing that the few customers that value distinctive choices don't justify the expense. In WDW's case, there was a clear shift in focus on satisfying the foodies at the hotels' restaurants, rather than within the theme park restaurants.

I have eaten at some of the world's best restaurants and frequently eat in NYC. I realize "better" restaurants change menus seasonally but they also keep signature dishes and rotate around them sometimes. I guess I'm bemoaning the fact I came to the Mythos party late and only ate there for the first time in August. I also broke a cardinal rule by not checking the menu first.:headache:

I can't believe it's gone! Maybe with enough complaints or questions as to why it's gone, it will return? Maybe wishful thinking.

I hope US doesn't become Disney in the eating regard. I love Disney but honestly most of the restaurant menus are the same. When you dine its more about the surrounding than whats on your plate and many restaurants. America's eating habits and trends are going down hill fast.

I certainly hope not either. Universal has much better counter service and who wants to fool with making reservations for table service six months in advance?

Metro- I don't mind the reservation part so much as the limited choices. Greasy Buffet, pre-frozen Italian...I could go on forever. The only good restaurants are at the resorts and hotels. I agree though, the counter service options are better.

Like I said, Mythos changes menu items out all the time, there shouldn't be any reason to suspect they're dumbing down the menu, unless we see evidence of that.

I ate there about a month ago and had an excellent meal, as always.

The only two places at the MK I ever eat are Pacos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's...the other places I've tried haven't done much for me. Those two seem to be consistant at least.

Odd, I always go to Columbia Harbor House and Pinocchio Village Haus, the other ones didn't do much for me.

Oooh, sad indeed on the blueberry pork. Fresh blueberries are near impossible to find at any kind of affordable price right now in Florida. I can't help but wonder if maybe it will go back to being a seasonal item? I remember when it first came on the menu, and all the seasonal menu items at that time were blueberry inspired. I was frankly surprised the pork remained on the menu for so long.

There was another dish that stayed on the menu with the pork back when it was first introduced. It was a spinach salad with blueberries, blue cheese, a warm bacon vinaigrette and your choice of protein. Has that also been removed? If so, I wonder if it's a blueberry decision.

FWIW, the last few meals we've had at Mythos have been seriously lacking in the service department. Friends who regularly frequent Mythos have come back with similar reports. We decided to give Confisco's a try on our last couple visits and were very pleasantly surprised at both the menu selection, food quality and service. We used to eat there years ago but stopped when Mythos was at the top of their game.

But I am going to miss the pork if it's forever gone. Let's hope it returns in the summer when blueberries are in abundance and affordable.

Chef Mark is out again with continued back problems. Vinney is now leading the group and and the new Bistro Filet is his creation and was the gold medal winner at the Culinary Competition in Orlando about 3 months ago. It is a very good replacement for the old Bistro Filet. Mythos has been very busy during December with Potter World being at capacity during that time frame.:cool2:
