No more Mickey Bars

Like GooniesAndy already said, we did get Mickey Bars on our MR cruise last week. One night, my daughter decided she wanted to try the ice cream sandwich, as I'd told her that was her option. When the real deal showed up, I was pretty pleased. I did see the sandwiches being served at some point though, so maybe they were trying to use them up first or something.

They do that with lots of other things to not just mickey bars, like popcorn buckets.

Really, I haven't seen any popcorn buckets on t-shirts, mickey ear hats, pins, vinylmations or even luggage as someone pointed out earlier?

Dis you see any of the 40th anniversary merchandise for WDW? Or the 55th for Disneyland?

According to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMcJOTb94MY from 2010 they are made in Fresno California. They make 170,000 bars a day

Thank you for posting that Wadekind!
I love seeing how stuff is made or built anyways (Discovery's channel's are set as favorites!) but it kind of explain's how maybe the shortage on the East Coast happened with a manufacturing challenge or if the train transport car's refrigeration failed or there was a refrigeration failure at a depot.
Also could explain how they could send a truck load down to Puerto Vallarta and still meet USPH and DCL food origin food guidelines!

Cool to see how they are made though and that they are hand packed to stop Mickey's ear's being cracked! lol!

Thanks for the link again!

Not popcorn buckets, but how about Turkey Legs and Churros?

Just got off the wonder on 3/11. When we started the cruise we were told the Mickey bars had been replaced by Mickey ice cream sandwiches. We had several and they were ok. Several days into the cruise the old Mickey bars showed up and our servers seemed to think the bars were back for good. We had them every night for the rest of the cruise. I hope the same will be true on all the other ships

Just bumping to see if we have any reports from the East Coast yet on availability? I know the "rumors" were that it'd be mid-April, but just wanted to check given the reports that the Wonder has them back.

Were on the Dream 2 weeks ago and one night, when nothing on the dessert menu appealed to me, I ordered a Mickey Sandwich and got it.

I sent an email to DCL two days ago in reference to the mickey bars and have been told (as posted above) that they are not being served due to a manufacturer shortage. They didnt give me any indication that they would be back. If you dont hear that they are back and you like them, make sure to write a comment to DCL and let them know that you would like mickey bars.

I was just on the Fantasy (yes, a test cruise) and had a mickey ice cream bar in the main dinning room.

So the drama continues......

Since we don't sail until June, I am hopeful that they will be back, but if not I will have to prepare my DS for the sandwiches.

:mickeybar My DD loves the mickey bars.....hope it is just a shortage and they will be returning.......

Hope the shortage ends before August. My kids were excited to order Mickey Bars from room service. Although, I think they would probably settle for a Mickey Sandwich Bar.

Last time I tried to have a Mickey Bar from room service it was liquid inside. Ordered it via room service. Not a good experience.
