No more Mickey Bars

It is interesting how people have an affinity for certain things in life ... IMHO, I think it's the little things that can make a holiday special ... as can be noted from some of the above posts from others here on this board ...

Yes, one can get an icecream bar (i.e. revels or revellos) from the freezer of your local corner grocery store ... but it's like saying why pay extra to get icecream from DQ or Marble Slab ... isn't icecream just icecream ...

Or it's like saying waffles are just waffles ... true ... but come on ... how can you resist this ...

It's funny how each person is different ...
  • can you imagine the uproar from some people if they could no longer get all-you-can-eat shrimp at the buffet ...
  • or for the wine connoiseurs - isn't wine in a box just as good as the fancy schmancy one in a bottle ...
  • a coffee is just a coffee isn't it ...
  • or for those who love a cool draught, isn't a beer just a beer ... and so on ... and so on ...

Sorry, but for me, I'm checking my adulthood at the door when we board the Fantasy this fall ... I guess it's the little kid in me ... give me a choice between a plain old revel ... or a Mickey Bar ... what do you think I will go for ...

And on that note ...

... when there is the possibility of no Mickey Bars ???

VERY well said!!!!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Did you have tropical flavors on the ship? We had chocolate and vanilla as well as mango, strawberry and banana. There may have been other flavors as well.

I remember banana and strawberry not sure about the mango. We just stuck to twist , chocolate and vanilla

NOOOOOOO!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: Say it isn't so!! We love the Mickey bars!! They are too expensive to get them very often at the parks, but we get at least one a day (to share of course :goodvibes) on a cruise!

If you've "never had one and don't care to try one," why are you criticizing those who have and love them?

I understand that you don't care, but it is obvious that many people do.

What's this share nonsense? :rotfl:

I was at the park yesterday and got the kiddos an ice cream....I asked if they were having shortages....there were 2 gals there and 1 was a manager, they said no, they hadn't heard of any shortages.

I sure hope this is fixed by our cruise in April, my son and wife had one after every dinner! We have great memories of those Mickey bars!

To me, the ones at the park are different from the ones ive had on DCL. Perhaps I'm just crazy, but the park bars are just OK, but the ones I've had on DCL are really special. My DH thinks so too. We both were like: Oh My God! When we took our first bite of our kids Mickey Bars. We have pretty sophisticated palates too. So those of you who are naysayers, don't knock it til you try it!!!

With respect to both you and the Manager of the concessions stand, the CM Manager of the concessions stand is Very Very unlikely to be aware of a shortage of product as long as it is available in the central stores.

As a business, it makes complete sense to divert all of your product where you sell them as a posed to include them if there were a shortage.

It's not like there is 1 machine making Mickey Bar's given the amount they sell, and therefor a shortage could still be possible.

Email/call/write DCL and ask, complain if they are not available/discontinued.

Ex Techie :)

I think you're right. I had my last Mickey bar on the Magic last week and the next day they were out. After the cruise we were in Magic Kingdom and my wife surprised me with Mickey Bar from one of the carts. It definitely wasn't the same, the bars on the ship seemed like a dark chocolate covering where the park bars seem more of a milk chocolate covering.

If your talking about my post I was just trying to point out how stupid people are sounding when they say it tastes better because it's shaped like mickey or they are going to cancel a cruise because they can't get one.

I can't believe that anyone here was actually serious about cancelling their cruise over a mickey bar shortage, were they? I'm one of many who will be disappointed if the shortage continues but I'm still going to have an amazing time on my cruise!:goodvibes

Well, I must be stupid and VERY PROUD OF IT!!!!

I typically don't buy a lot of sweets, but am a sucker for Mickey shaped treats. My personal favorite are Mickey head rice krispy treats (which are no longer served on the ships either - can anyone say conspiracy?). But it can be Mickey head waffles, Mickey head ice cream bars, Mickey head pretzels, or Mickey head (insert food here). You're on a Disney vacation and it's become expected IMO to be able to enjoy such whimsical treats. True, they may be no different than other premium bars, rice krispy treats, waffles, pasta, pretzels but I seeem to enjoy them more. Perhaps it's because I'm on holiday when I bite into one. I never ate those rice krispy sandles you used to get in the CC member bag, but if they were shaped like Mickey and dipped in chocolate, I'd grab them from the kids and eat them!

Again, I just think it's part of the Disney fun and will continue to enjoy my Mickey head shaped food (and complain when it's missing!). I've complained to DCL about the rice krispy treats and will also complain about the Mickey Head ice cream.

My middle son orders a Mickeys bar each night on our cruise. My oldest son wears a t-shirt with a storm trooper eating a Mickey head bar saying "Join the Dark Side". My youngest has a Mickey head ice cream pin and Mr. Potato head part. These bars are a part of our Disney vacation tradition. It'll be sad to see them gone as they are such a fun treat.

Yes, I'll still enjoy my cruise, but this is still disappointing news about the Mickey head bars.

I didn't read the entire thread, but can you show me the post where someone said they were going to cancel their cruise because of this where they were not posting in jest. I'm still confused as to the reason you post on this thread other than to :stir: :confused3

I'm sorry about the stupid comment I meant it more to the people who gave me the response that because it's shaped like mickey it somehow tastes better, when I asked what the big deal about a chocolate covered ice cream bar is. I guess I just don't get it, to me mickey waffles taste like waffles there no different then any other.

As for the part about canceling cruse people may have been joking but if you think about it because the ship is temporally out of an ice cream bar is that really a good reason to cancel a vacation?

Oh and by the way I have seen the stormtrooper shirt and do think it's pretty funny, I'm just not a mickey bar kind of guy.

No hard feelings. :goodvibes It's just that we do enjoy our Mickey shaped food while on Disney vacations. We know it's silly, but we love it nonetheless.

Off to send my complaint to Disney so hopefully they will have the bars back by our cruise in June.

Just so you know it's apparently a temporary problem with the supplier they have for them so they should have them back by then. I know people are saying that the parks have them but they have to keep in mind the parks have more lace to store larger quantities of them then the ships do, space is very limited for food storage on the ships. As an example of that for the Trans Atlantic voyages of the Magic they have actually taken over inside staterooms on the lower decks to be used for dry goods storage.

good news... mickey bars are back!!!
They were available by request at the Fantasy Christening event last night! :)
Hakuna Matata!!!

I doubt that means they are necessarily back fleet-wide. Heck, that could be the reason for the shortage. They had to shift enough to the Christening so all the VIPs could be taken care of.

Just off the Wonder in Cabo and wanted to report that on Wednesday we were restocked with Mickey bars.
