No More 'Just Married' Buttons?

I've been meaning to ask this for a little while, but I heard on the last Dis Unplugged podcast that they were discontinuing the 'Just Married' buttons. Of course I'm pretty bummed, even though it looks like there keeping the 'Happily Ever After' ones. I wish I had known this so I could have picked some up on our last trip. I just did a quick search on the Disney website and when I picked the 'True Love' option I didn't see the 'Just Married' buttons specifically, just the other ones, but I don't know if they were ever listed before, I thought they were though. Oh well, not a huge deal I guess, just wanted to see if this had already been discussed and confirmed.

Even more aggravating is they have this Just Married pin with a magnetic space at the bottom to put your name. So you buy the pin and then they had rows and rows of magnets with names.

DH and I got a set on our honeymoon and our most recent trip we wanted to get a more generic Disney pin with our name...and they don't have names anymore!!! All they had was like "#1 coach" or "dad", etc.

None of the cast members we asked could help or really knew what happened. But I think they are discontinuing those pins which is disappointing.

I am going in February for my planning session I hope they will still have some this makes me sad.

they had both last week when we went! Maybe they meant the "just married" pins instead of buttons? I even saw 2 little girls dressed as Cinderella wearing the "just married" button (i'm sure they didn't know what it said?) :confused3

Maybe they thought expectations were getting out of hand for the "Just Married" buttons? I've seen a few threads along the lines of, "we wore our buttons every day and got nothing!" It just seems odd to discontinue only those ones, you know?

I have to admit, even I've rolled my eyes at the lengths some couples go to in order to ensure everyone in visual distance knows they just got married. If it was just to celebrate, that would be one thing, but I get the feeling they want everyone to know to get free stuff or special treatment...

I agree, I have also seen reports on here were people have worn "just engaged" or "happy birthday" badges months afterwards?:confused3

we were given the buttons when we checked in and at a few of our meals as they saw we were not wearing them but we didnt want to wear them as we werent expecting any thing for free and think it is terrible that people expect be giving free food etc because they have a button

we did have anniversary buttons on our bag and it was nice when just other disney goers or a CM says congratulations that made us smile

DH and I have an extra set I THINK. I know we have two sets of Happily Ever After but I also think we have two sets of Just Married. If we do have two sets and they discontinue them, we can probably send them to someone from this board.

thats really lame. honestly i was waiting for disney to pull the axe on their buttons. I know people who go and have all of the buttons and wear them every trip. they live in florida so they go alot, its like hmm what are we celebrating this week?? anniversary! it is stupid that people like that ruin the whole thing for everyone else.

It'd be interesting to see if they are still available now or have they stopped with the new year? The podcast only said just married buttons specifically but the website only highlighted the 'happily ever after' buttons. Makes me wonder if they are only going to keep those and get rid of 'just engaged' and the 'anniversary' ones too. Might be cheaper for disney to produce just one kind. Just a guess though.

I would if it would be weird to pick up some when we go down next week for the marathon, or just wait for whatever they have out when we do get married.

It'd be a real bummer if there considered getting rid of all the buttons, but I'm sure it costs money.

It's kind of like how they ticket the special events during the year (like MNSSHP or MVMCP). They use these generic card tickets that don't even say the event on them, it just says it on the paper you get attached to them. We got these for MNSSHP this year and I'm glad I had read on the Dis that they look like otherwise I would have thought we got the wrong tickets (or not MNSSHP tickets at all, because they just said "celebrate" on them). But apparently they do it to save money.

Thanks for posting that the just married pins are going to be discontinued. I was in the MK today and come to think of it I really didn't see many couples wearing them (lots of anniversary and happily ever after ones though). I will have to try and pick two of them up before they are gone for good. We aren't doing our honeymoon at Disney and I would like to have them to wear when we leave for our honeymoon. I doubt they'll completely discontinue the buttons. They've always had birthday buttons and generic celebration ones long before this promotion; they just changed the designs for the I'm celebrating promotion and not as many people knew about them before the I'm celebrating promotion so ytou didn't see them as much.
As far as the special events tickets, I think it depends on what kind of ticket you buy. In the past I've always gotten a regular park ticket or a paper e-ticket (when I've bought online) but this year I got actual party specific tickets. The one from MVMCP is sitting on my desk in front of me and it is a plastic ticket that says Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party with the castle with snow around it, a Christmas tree, and a few characters in their holiday outfits (i.e. Santa Mickey in a sleigh). When they handed it to me I thought it was maybe because it was a photopass ticket too but it's not.

I hope they don't discontinue them.
When we go in october it will be our first ever trip and, during it we will get married and I will celebrate my 35th birthday.
I don't especially want lots of attention or free stuff BUT I do want to have specific souvenirs for those things, having had both at such a magical place!

We just got home from Disney and I saw them in a few places, Magic Kingdom had a big cart filled with all the badges at the start of main street. We also got “Just Married” & “Happily Ever after” buttons when we checked in at the hotel. On new years eve a couple next to us got engaged in EPCOT and the restaurant staff had the “Just Engaged” ones for them too. It would be really sad if they did discount from Jan as we got a lot of congratulations from both staff & guests and lots of little perks while we were in the parks.

Just as we were leaving we were given the new “just married” pins as well (hat & veil mickey ear ones) I think they are selling these in the parks now instead of those magnetic ones that you put you name in. We were luckily enough to be told by a staff member that the rubber names (to fit the bottom of the old just married pins) could be found at the outlet stores now, and we found DH’s first name at Florida Outlets, they had lots of girls & boys names, unfortunately just not mine.

Are the "Just Engaged" buttons actually going to be discontinued as well? Where would I go about getting them?

Plan on being in WDW for an engagement in early March!
