I did not say improved system of doing things, only new.

Oh well - let's hope for the best.

I have no problem showing my KTTW card at each ride. I have it in my pocket anyway, just reach your hand in and pull it out, sounds pretty simple. The time consuming part will be the cast member having to check the date to make sure it is valid. As stated by some others, the easier way would be to install a swiper at the ride entrance and just have the guest swipe the card. If your card is current a green light would shine and you could go. It works for subways in cities like NY it can work at ride entrances. They would also have the added bonus of knowing what people are doing during EMH.
what about the families with little ones or larger families, it can be a big ordeal pulling out everyones cards.
We didn't even use them last time we were at DLRP in May.
Tho it's not as bad there as it's a five/ten minute walk from your resort hotel to the parks, so it does work there, but i could see it being more hassle at WDW![]()

If Disney is thinking about doing this I'm sure they thought it out. Very few fortune 500 companies implement policy changes unless there is some ROI involved.
Not wanting to be picky, but Disney is a Fortune 100 company. Just want to give credit to a well managed company.

I think it's silly. I never carry around everyone's KTTK card and don't want to. (we don't do morning EMHs) But maybe Disney, seeing, anticipating, reduced attendance, just doesn't really care if the people at PM EMH are resort guests or not. Maybe they just want people to stay in the parks. Not saying this is fair to resort guests, but I could see Disney bottom line thinking as ... "the longer people stay, the more they spend." I will be very curious to see how well/often they check KTTK cards.

So I guess all of this means that the rumor that they're simultaneously going to start offering "Resort Key Replacement Insurance" for $31/day is true . . .

See... my first thought is the price of lanyards just went up!
Then how do you get into the parks? Not trying to be ugly... I mean that as a serious question.
If they don't check the cards, this will in effect dilute Extra Magic Hours and make them not so very magical. At that point, why not just do away with them altogether and just leave the parks open longer for EVERYONE?
Read Kevin Yee's blog on MiceAge this week. He touches on the EMH bracelet thing and comes to the conclusion that Disney is not going to be asking souvenier buying, turkey leg eating patrons, who are simply soaking up the atmosphere to leave the park in this ailing economy. Every dollar they can get, they'll get -- Disney hotel guest or non-Disney hotel guest, their money is just as green. So be prepared for much more crowded extra magic hours.
I guess I'll just have the CM punch one of those cute mickey head holes in each card so they can clip onto the lanyard. They did that on a prior trip to differentiate the cards for our 2 rooms. Hopefully they'll still do that.
Thank heavens for the DIS so I can keep up on things.![]()
Maybe Disney is seeing some numbers that we don't know about it and maybe they are thinking we won't notice if non-resort guests are in the park too? If attendance goes down to the degree some are saying it might, maybe it won't noticeably effect crowds during EMH.![]()
And most people (at least in the beginning) won't think "Hey, we can just stay and no one will notice because they got rid of wristbands." Unless of course they read the Disney boards, but that's a small percentage of guests.
And maybe it's a temporary thing, I don't know, I'd rather they do this, then get rid of Evening EMH altogether and I'd rather they do this than some other things, so if this is their plan, to let non-resort guests stay at night, I think I'm ok with that.
