No More EMH Wristbands

I have no problem showing my KTTW card at each ride. I have it in my pocket anyway, just reach your hand in and pull it out, sounds pretty simple. The time consuming part will be the cast member having to check the date to make sure it is valid. As stated by some others, the easier way would be to install a swiper at the ride entrance and just have the guest swipe the card. If your card is current a green light would shine and you could go. It works for subways in cities like NY it can work at ride entrances. They would also have the added bonus of knowing what people are doing during EMH.

I would have no problem with the card thing but I believe when you book your hotel the should send you a ID holder for a lanyard then it would be very easy!!!

why all the changes!!! AAARRRGGG!!!

Yes, it would be simple if I only had to pull out my card, but I typically carry the cards for the whole family, and repeatedly pulling out 4 cards and putting them away or if we split up, the chances of the cards getting lost is greatly multiplied.

My kids are old enough to be responsible for their cards (maybe:confused3 ), but what about the families with little ones or larger families, it can be a big ordeal pulling out everyones cards.

Yes, you are still waiting, whether it is in the queue or outside to show your resort ID, but the level of frustration is much higher if you are waiting to show your one ID behind a family struggling to produce all their cards.

I would hope they wouldn't make small children show their KTTW cards. If there are 2 adults and 3 children I would say only the 2 adults would have to show their cards. Logically speaking the kids would probably be staying with the adults in the same resorts. I don't think adults staying in resorts and brining kids that are not is a big problem.

As far as holding everyone's cards I guess that would just have to stop, at least holding the other adult's cards. Everyone will just have to be responsible for their own cards.

If Disney is thinking about doing this I'm sure they thought it out. Very few fortune 500 companies implement policy changes unless there is some ROI involved.

We didn't even use them last time we were at DLRP in May.
Tho it's not as bad there as it's a five/ten minute walk from your resort hotel to the parks, so it does work there, but i could see it being more hassle at WDW

:goodvibes

Look business is business. Making people show their id to get on a ride is one thing.

Disney or any sane business will never turn away money. so enforcing extra magic hours on people who want to spend money in the stores will never happen. Can you imagine going to purchase something and because you are staying at the BEST WESTERN (which I have done before so don't flame me) the CM turns around and says you can't buy it. :scared1:  People will explode in the store.

Not wanting to be picky, but Disney is a Fortune 100 company. Just want to give credit to a well managed company.

I think it's silly. I never carry around everyone's KTTK card and don't want to. (we don't do morning EMHs) But maybe Disney, seeing, anticipating, reduced attendance, just doesn't really care if the people at PM EMH are resort guests or not. Maybe they just want people to stay in the parks. Not saying this is fair to resort guests, but I could see Disney bottom line thinking as ... "the longer people stay, the more they spend." I will be very curious to see how well/often they check KTTK cards.

If they don't check the cards, this will in effect dilute Extra Magic Hours and make them not so very magical. At that point, why not just do away with them altogether and just leave the parks open longer for EVERYONE?

Read Kevin Yee's blog on MiceAge this week. He touches on the EMH bracelet thing and comes to the conclusion that Disney is not going to be asking souvenier buying, turkey leg eating patrons, who are simply soaking up the atmosphere to leave the park in this ailing economy. Every dollar they can get, they'll get -- Disney hotel guest or non-Disney hotel guest, their money is just as green. So be prepared for much more crowded extra magic hours.

So I guess all of this means that the rumor that they're simultaneously going to start offering "Resort Key Replacement Insurance" for $31/day is true . . .

See... my first thought is the price of lanyards just went up!

I am not a fan of pm emh after attending E-ride nights in the past. I would much rather pay extra to attend E-ride nights and in return attend a park with limited attendance. I like am emh but dislike spending my time waiting in line for a wristband and then waiting in lines all evening at pm emh. We attended an E-ride night several years ago and were able to visit all the attractions we wanted with all waits under 10 minutes. The price was fair since the combined price for our family was equivalent to a day in the park and our combined E-ride time was 12 hours.

Personally, I would be happy if wristbands are discontinued. Wrist bands would be ok if they were distributed at resort check-in. We found pm emh very frustrating since we didn't get much done. We waited in a long, slow line for wristbands to enjoy the perk of waiting in long attraction lines during pm emh at Epcot. I am sure some people think pm emh is great. I am impatient so I prefer am emh or E-ride nights since I get to do more.

We're planning to be in the MK on 9/7 - for EMH night. figures:rolleyes:
When I read this thread this morning, I pulled out the lanyards I have at home and will be packing them to make things easier. Glad I saw this. I guess I'll just have the CM punch one of those cute mickey head holes in each card so they can clip onto the lanyard. They did that on a prior trip to differentiate the cards for our 2 rooms. Hopefully they'll still do that.

Thank heavens for the DIS so I can keep up on things.:goodvibes

Maybe Disney is seeing some numbers that we don't know about it and maybe they are thinking we won't notice if non-resort guests are in the park too? If attendance goes down to the degree some are saying it might, maybe it won't noticeably effect crowds during EMH. :confused3

And most people (at least in the beginning) won't think "Hey, we can just stay and no one will notice because they got rid of wristbands." Unless of course they read the Disney boards, but that's a small percentage of guests.

And maybe it's a temporary thing, I don't know, I'd rather they do this, then get rid of Evening EMH altogether and I'd rather they do this than some other things, so if this is their plan, to let non-resort guests stay at night, I think I'm ok with that.

Where did you get this done? Thanks!

I'm fine with the non-resort staying guest staying in the park during EMH. But, in reality, it doesn't really give the resort-staying guest any real benefit, except getting on rides a little easier. The crowd in the park won't be thinner, but the ride lines may be shorter? And if a non-resort guest waits in line and then plays dumb at the end and says to the ride operator, I didn't know it was EMH? Are Disney ride operators really going to have the guts to say well sorry you waited, but you need to exit now?

Here's another kink in the plan. Are they going to periodically change the look of the KTTW cards because I happen to have kept every KTTW card I have ever received. So, could I possibly stay at a DTD resort or the Holiday Inn Express and bring an old KTTW card flash it at the really busy ride operator as I walk by and still ride the rides for EMH? I tend to think "sneaky" like that...
