no more Disney Store discount????

I was at the Disney Store last night (jan30) using my DVC card for my discount and the lady said "oh just getting that last discount huh" she said after jan31 there will be no more discount. I asked if she meant the "Disney Club" card and she said no...there will be no more Disney Store discounts at all. I was paying with my Disney Visa and she said all the benefits are going through the Visa program. She said I should have gotten a letter explaining all this..

Is this true..is the DVC no longer offering store discount??

I think she is confused and is in need of training. (There seems to be a constant communication problem about DVC discounts around there).

As of last night, our Disney Store discount was still valid and on the Member Perks version of the website. (I was making a cheat sheet of all of the WDW restaurants and added the establishments where DVC members get a discount).

Up until this past summer I use to get a discount on the Park Passes when we didn't get the UPH from the resort.

No more. I presented my DVC member card and was politely told there was no more discount on the park passes. Now, whether or not it would have been honored for other merchandise, I don't know. But it defintately wasn't honored for the park tickets. And this was the Manager because I challanged the first person helping me.

Our DVC membership never entitled us to discount on hopper passes of any kind. If you have been getting them with only your DVC member card, it was a mistake - the CMs were in fact giving you the discount associated with the Disney Club. The DS Manager was correct in this case.

Our discount on Disney Store merchandise is valid until DVC says it isn't. If anyone has problems, they should contact MS to have someone contact the particular Disney Store that is incorrectly denying the discount. I've not had a problem with the stores near me - but then, I've not been shpping at TDS much, lately. I am disappointed with the lack of adult clothing choices and collectibles.

CAROLMN is correct. We were never entitled to a discount on park hopper passes. The CM is correct on this. If my memory serves me correct, we were also not entitled to a discount on art & collectables at the DS.

However......last year we went to the DS to purcahse our passes for our March 2003 trip, and asked if there was a discount using our DVC membership card, and the young CM did give us a discount. SO...in conclusion....the lack of training can work either way, so it never hurts to ask.

i was just at our ds the other day and i have both dvc card and dc card, i asked about both cards and was told the dc card is the only one that ends dec.31. the dvc card is still good for discounts until futhur noticed

What's even more amazing is that I went to several DS stores over the past years and made my question as clear as possible stating that I was not talking about the Disney Club Card, rather the Disney Vacation Club and all stores said "Yes" I was entitled to a discount on the Park Hopper Passes as a Disney Vacation Club Member!

Oh well, you just never know...

We have NEVER gotten the discount on passes, but the DVC membership card is good for all other discounts. I'm with Carol though. There hasn't been much at the DS I have wanted to buy in the past couple of years other than passes!

Thanks..I called the store and spoke to the manager and she confirmed that it was just the Disney CLUB card and she would review it with her staff...very nice.

Also to CarolMN, Disney is selling TDS so don't know if we might see a change in anything. I have to say I liked the Warner Bros store (not that I bought anything for myself there!!) in that they catered to all ages and not just mostly kids stuff.

Just to confirm, the DVC card is (and always has been) good on collectibles at DS. It was the DC card that stopped giving the collectible discount. Not that there's any collectibles to COLLECT at DS!

While at WDW earlier this month, I did some shopping at the World of Disney store. Several CMs told me that there will be NO discounts of any kind effective January 2004. This includes AP and DVC. Can anyone confirm this?

No DVC Discount applied at the World of Disney, the DVC Discount is at offsite Disney Store locations. Although some CMs mistakenly gave DVCers the DC Discount. There was a Disney Club and AP Discount. We all know Disney Club is defunct, as far as AP discount, we'll wait and see what the new card folders say.

World of Disney is not part of the Disney Store chain. So any discounts or offers that Disney Store has do not apply there. For example, the offers that Disney Visa has do not apply there.

Is the DVC discount good at Disneystore.com?

I hope the discounts from the Disney Visa improve now that the DC is gone. As with most new and exciting Disney programs, there tends to be a lot less of a perk for the customer....Oh, I forgot that generous 1% discount when you use the Disney Visa.

No, DVC hasn't ever been good at disneystore.com or catalog, unfortunately. It would be nice, but i wouldn't count on that happening any time soon!

We returned gifts we bought to the Disney store tonight, a couple of flashlights/nightlights. The batteries were el cheapos that were packaged with these that exploded inside this things and caused somewhat of a meltdown. Long story/ short of it is we exchanged for higher priced items and we used our DVC card for the 10% discount. I think it is a matter of getting a CM who knows that we do get the discount.

I am a CM with Disney Store who thought I'd clear up a couple of things.... I'm on this board because of an upcoming trip to OKW in 8 weeks...

You should still receive your 10% at Disney Store. I haven't heard anything to suggest otherwise, so make sure you ask for it and feel free to question if denied.

The discount on passes, however, should not be happening -- so if you've received it in the past, good for you!!

Lastly, come in and give us another look. Our merchandise is headed back the way it used to be.... mugs, frames and even adult clothes are back. So, if you haven't visited us lately, it might be worth a look the next time you're in the mall!
