No more 'cuts in line' for many disabled Knott's guests

Who is doing this? I really want to know if we are reading the same thread?:confused3

If you do not see it then I do not know what to tell you...several people posted of watching what they considered so called handicapped people and decided they where not handicapped.

For them or anyone with challenges (not terminal) to have moments of happiness where they get to forget their limitations...that is so precious. It just astounds me that people begrudge them that.

WHO is begrudging them?!?!?

WHO is begrudging them?!?!?

Go back and read and stop expecting me to hold your hand and explain it to you...several people complaining on this thread about what they perceive as privileges.

Go find someone else to bait, I am putting you on ignore.

I think the devil felt a chill!!:rotfl:

This is what you posted.

Not one person on this thread other than yourself felt it necessary to sink to such a low.
There is little room for your post to be misinterpreted,it was very clear.

While I agree with you that truly deserving people should be able to benefit from a program I also agree with others that say the abuse needs to be limited.

I agree, I think there was no room for misinterpretation either. You may be saying, this is what I meant to say, but is cleary not what you meant when you posted.

I have no clue how to police the fakers, nor have I seen many instances of abuse, and we go to the parks a ton. Does it happen? I am sure it does, but I believe what comes around goes around.

I don’t think most people here are begrudging special needs people. They are fed up with the lowlifes who fake it to try to get to the front of the line (apparently they think this still works). Just last week at DL, I saw a group of kids swapping the wheelchair & leg brace to give someone else a turn. I don’t know if that worked to their advantage, but how sad that people still try to abuse the system.

Bottom line: I think accommodations should be given to people who truly need them. That’s it. :thumbsup2

I didn't read any of that either. I think the general consensus is that if there were a system in place that would limit abuse everyone would benefit.

I would hate to have a person who needs help be at the back of the line behind a bunch of people abusing the system. I believe that any plan implemented is taking this in account and trying to help those who need it, not hurt them.

What is scary is a group of people begrudging special needs people something that gives them EQUAL access, FAIR access and claiming it is something it is not. It is called prejudice and that is SCARY.
But can you not see that no one is begruding anyone who actually has a special need? People are saying that those who ABUSE the system need to be stopped and trying to come up with a workable solution. Now, not being consistently disabled (I have MS, it comes and goes) I cannot judge what may or may not be reasonable and workable for someone who deals with this everyday. From my perspective it does not seem like having to bring a Drs note saying I have MS if I decide to use an ECV would be that much of an inconvenience. (I wouldn't do that because I'd be afraid of taking out a small child, but there may come a day when I have no choice.) Not for every situation but for theme parks.

Well, what is scary here is that I was in DL the week before last and saw the exact same thing. I did notice that a LOT of the queues in DL were much more narrow than at WDW. In most of the FantasyLand rides you would not have been able to make a turn in an ECV. I noticed this particularly because we had gone to Legoland the week before and with the heat I was not doing well. DH was concerned about me but knew I wouldn't wait in any other line but the regular one so I was point that out to him. At any rate.....these kids were getting off of Space Mountain. I would have thought nothing of one of them hopping in the wheelchair--DD sat in mine once at Epcot for a bit when I had rented one--but it was the swapping of the leg brace that really got me.

However, I am with the majority--I generally am in my own world at WDW and don't notice too much. Although stupid people in line, swearing people anywhere or those who need to get a room do bug me. Mainly because of my kids.

WHO is begrudging them?!?!?

Go back and read the OP. She talked about the new rules at Knott's Berry Farm. She thougth WDW should do the same.

Split familires when they have a disabled member

The OP was begrudging the treatment the disabled get at WDW. Not the abusers. The disabled

It is pretty clear.

ANd you would be wrong, just because you choose to interpret something incorrectly with a few others does not make you right and does not mean what I wrote as anything other. I say sour grapes for the NOLA thread, pot, kettle, ;)

I promised my daughter that we would go fishing and that is what we are going to do.

Have fun pot stirring to several of you. How miserable your lives must be that you have nothing better to do and to sit around looking for things to complain about no matter how minuscule they are when other people have real issues to contend with. I will continue to be grateful for all my blessings including just getting to go to Disney and have fun.

There is, it is called GACs.

I have a Disney princess pole being waved in my face, I am off.

I completely agree with you there. Sadly, it seems some people have different interpretations of the phrase "people who truly need them" :sad2:.

I'm sure I've had people give me evil looks when I have got up out of my wheelchair to board rides. I'm truly lucky, as I can walk a bit, but any distance greater than from here to the kitchen will leave me in a lot of pain. Of course, to look at me, there are no signs that I'm ill, other than the chair and maybe looking a bit pale or worn on bad days. Some people seem to feel the need to judge whether or not I really need to use my wheelchair, though they know nothing about me :worried: (not throwing that at anyone in particular here, just saying in general)

Can I just clear these two points up once and for all:
using a wheelchair does not get you to the front of the line in rides

Disney policy insists that wheelchair users are loaded onto the bus first, as it is dangerous to have a chair or ECV maneuvering on a crowded bus, and because there is no assurance that the lift on the next bus will be working

(in fact, the law states that if a bus cannot load a wheelchair user on, it should be deemed 'full' at that stop, and nobody else should be allowed on, regardless of how much space is left. Now, I'm not going to jump up and down and insist that this law is stuck to, anyone else out there who is oh-so-keen on the 5 people limit going to insist on this rule being enforced?)

Everyone breathe, relax and think happy thoughts

P.S. The big text was not me shouting, just making these points stand out for anyone who is skim reading, or may have missed them in previous points.

HOLY MOLY! Could you possibly be any ruder, possibly?!

First, you wish able bodied guests, that are fed up with "abusers", be run over by a bus and become quadraplegic and now you are condescending to someone that wasn't mean at all.

I seriously think it is time to step away from the computer.

It seems to me that going fishing with her daughter will be good for her. :)

OneLittleSpark, I love your name, and I agree with everything you said. Glad you explained the "screaming!"

I feel as if the last paragraph is partly directed at me because I failed to agree with your behavior on this thread.

My life is not miserable as I'm sure the same goes for most others who have posted. And we all have real issues in our lives that need to be dealt with and while most don't have the same problems that you do it doesn't limit our ability to feel compassion or make our issues any less meaningful.

I spoke up because of the harshness of your posts.

We all want to see the right thing done for all involved.

WOW I will have to read all of this thread before I say to much, but I don't see much compassion and understanding here when it comes to us disabled people that would love to walk and stand in lines like we used to do. That is why I pay to enter Disney and do not ride the few rides I could, because of heartless people that are soooo lucky to be healthy and able to do those things. sad world

Huh? Your post makes little sense.

I believe that nearly everyone has been very compassionate.

 I understand perfectly where you are coming from! And those that don't should count their blessings. :thumbsup2 Good for you for standing up for your daughter and countless others! You win the moral victory IMO. ;)
