No more character meals at Hollywood & Vine!!!

The food at lunch is so good and Minnie looked so beautiful in her costume. I think this is a very bad move. Why can't they just have the characters at dinner then?

This stinks! This was one of our favorite character meals and a "must do" each trip. Doesn't this leave MGM the only park without a character meal? Ugh.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!! I AM SOOOO ANGRY RIGHT NOW Can you believe that I have 8:10 PS H&V on 3/24!!!! I just got the call from WDW DINE telling me that I have to make alternate plans!!! Ok fine...give me 1900 park fare! oh really? that's booked? ok give me Cape May.....anything? anytime?? ok what else ya got for the 24th in the MORNING???!!!!! Right now I'm so mad that I might just stay in my room and eat pop tarts that day!!!!! URGH!

I agree. In honor of this wonderful meal I'm changing my sig picture back to DD and H&V Minnie in Oct. 2001.

Didn't an earlier post mention a CM saying the cancellation was due to guest trends?

Maybe, just maybe, they heard all of the cries for a Toy Story meal or a Hero's meal or Monsters Inc character meal.

Anyone consider this may just be the prep for that?

Thanks for posting this information. BOO HOO! After character meal overload last trip, we were going to scale back this time, but we ALL agreed to do H & V again. Minnie was soo beautiful, and we all had such a good time.

I can't say I understand why this would save them money? You pay an arm and a leg to dine with the characters, I would have thought they would keep these going! This stinks.

Nooooooooooooo. This is our favourite lunch place and the food was great. The only place my DD would eat "real food" and not chicken and fries.

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?????? Its alwys been packed when we have been. That sure is going to limit the appeal of eating at MGM.

Its so darn hard to get a PS for anything decent, they should be ADDING character meals not shutting them down.

I hope you are right about the Toy Story or Monsters meal, but I am afraid it is just another cut. What upsets me is that this was a fun thing in MGM for the younger ones. My older son loves MGM the best because he likes the big rides, I used the H&V as entertainment for DD3 while he rode R&R and TofT over and over. I find it hard to keep her busy at MGM for as long as he wants to stay. While I don't mind splitting up within a park (DH &DS and me&DD) I don't like to be in 2 different parks. We can only watch Bear so many times in a day, I get tired of sitting on the floor! Well hears hoping for a good replacement or at least characters at dinner.

This is strange. It doesn't seem to make sense to eliminate the only character meal in MGM, not to mention the only sit-down breakfast place. Also seems strange to leave it open for dinner when in the past they closed it for dinner during slower times. I guess the Fantasmic dinner package must justify that

Folks, if you have a PS at H&V for breakfast or lunch, don't wait for WDW Dining to call you. Call them to make other arrangements. As you can tell, the other character meals will fill up fast as H&V was a large restaurant.

We are extremely sad about H&V closing for lunch. We are celebrating my birthday in WDW at the end of the month & H&V had been my birthday choice. We will be there just 2 days after the 3/23/03 cut-off date!

I can't believe they don't have any character meals left at MGM now. Our biggest complaint about MGM has always been lack of good restaurants. Now they have closed our favorite that we have visited every trip for the past 3 years. I hope this is only temporary. Just called & cancelled this PS - they verified it will be closed on 3/29/03.

We made a PS at H&V for March 25th. We just got a call yesterday, letting us know it was cancelled and to call back to get another Character Breakfast PS. I did that, however Disney was unable to find a PS for a Character Breakfast at any of the theme parks during our stay! We made this PS weeks ago, and wold have chosen a different spot, had we known. Disney did not feel they were obligated to fix this.

I guess we were lucky thanks to the info on the boards We were able to get a new ps for our June honeymoon at Chef Mickey's in the Contemperary although it is a different day
