WDW News Today just tweeted that starting January 1 all APs (regular, premium and premiere) will all carry a 10 percent merchandise discount.

Here's the tweet.

Man, I was so excited for the bigger discount with my new PAP. :(

That just stinks. Won't pick ours up until the 5th. Oh well, we aren't really shoppers but might have picked up more than usual because of the discount. Their loss.

Same here. We aren't big shopper either but thought with the 20% discount that we might pick up a few more items than usual. Oh, well....saves us money.

That totally sucks. Nice of Disney to get us all to buy a PAP this Dec and then take away one of the benefits of the PAP a month later. I'm feeling down right anti Disney at the moment, having just read about now the new FP+ is going to work.

I agree. This really stinks. We definitely bought the PAP knowing the 20% discount was in place. Kind of crappy to bait and switch. Though, I shouldn't be surprised.

Luckily, we were there last week and did get to utilize the 20% for a week.

We let our Premier passes lapse, and didn't get the discounted AP for WDW. We'll be getting DLR AP, but probably deluxe, not premium. I wonder if the DLR passes are doing 10% only also?

Really glad I let DW get her D&B bag when we were there in Oct. We're pretty much 'gifted' out for now, but major bummer the 20% is going away.

I'm sure it's in the fine print somewhere, but if the PAP was promoted as a 20% discount vehicle, then how can they change the terms of purchase after the fact? What's next, no water parks.....????

I was just about to buy but now I might not. Does DVC members already get 10 percent off already for park merchandise?

This is exactly what I was thinking . . . bought it 2 weeks ago at HS!:thumbsup2

I agree with a PP . . . this their loss. We just won't buy as much.

We don't shop that much anymore but it still stinks. We just bought ours for the first time when we were there on 12/5.

Also stinks that we bought the TIW card for the first time and the price had gone up from $75 to $100 also :(

We were planning to purchase premium AP's after Christmas with the DVC discount. Part of my rationale was that we could get the TIW discount (reduced), we could get the 20% merchandise discount (reduced), and we would have incentive to squeeze in an extra trip or two staying at a Disney resort hotel (non DVC). With the lost benefit, I'm thinking of skipping the extra trip and just go to WDW for 7 days. Plan B was a Princess cruise in 2014. At this point, the Princess Cruise appears to be leading in our decision process.

We'll have to decide soon as the DVC discount expires December 31st.

I sent an email to WDW inquiring about the PAP merchandise discount. I received a "reply" this morning:

On the flip side - now I don't feel so bad about all the money I spent because of the 20% discount.

The deluxe APs at DLR have been 10%..hope that remains.

I missed this..where is info on FP+?

Hmm great minds think alike, though we are leaning towards NCL for 2014, though Princess could come into play if we consider Alaska.

We considered the PAP, but at this point I think one Disney trip a year is enough, just had too much fun on a solo cruise on the Epic(thought about a few days solo at WDW). Glad DH said do the cruise!
