SO bummed, I booked a last minute "mommy and toddler" trip staying at Bay Lake Tower for the MK accessibility... and there are no MK reservations available for our 3 days over Columbus Day wknd! There were last week. Now they are all booked up... Is park hopping to MK after 2 my only option?? I was so looking forward to being the first ones in the park with him!

(Also... is this "how they getcha"? I have to now buy a park hopper to get into a full park under this reservation system?)

Keep checking - they may open up more availability or someone could cancel. You can attempt to modify the reservation even though the availability calendar on the website shows that MK is full.

I would reserve whatever park is available that day and attempt to modify after doing that. Then if unsuccessful you can add hopping to your ticket and hop to MK after 2.

Take consideration that

1) That is a Holiday week

2) Hurricane Ian just hit people may have either been extending their trips (if for a long one) or moved it in anticipation of impact of Ian

3) I realize you said last minute trip but you also said the reservations were there last week so you had awareness of the reservation system and knew the availability at the time, for a last minute trip you had your days planned so would have been best to book your reservations right there (as annoying as it is to have to book reservations) rather than wait. The longer you wait the higher chance they fill up and MK is usually the first. I realize that may sound harsh and doesn't change your predicament now.

All that said PP is correct to keep checking as reservations can show up and yes you can park hop to MK after 2pm assuming they have it opened (park hopping has only closed 1 time the chance is unlikely) so that is an option to add park hopping capabilities or keep checking on availability if you don't want to just understand it may not open up (it's always a risk on that).

Thank you! Great to know.

I don’t suppose there’s an app that checks for park availability opening up, in the way Touring Plans monitors ADR availability?

Just a heads up that in the past, Disney sometimes stops allowing the park hopper option to be added to tickets when park reservations are full. If you have not added the PH option yet I would do it now in order to avoid being locked out of that also.
Wow, how things have changed!!! Thanks for the tip!!

Updating here since no one else can understand how elated I am: MK availability opened up on all 3 of my days! Soooooooo over the moon!!! so excited for early MK mornings with my baby AND Crystal Palace dinner!
Congratulations! Are you going to remove park hopper now?

I would not be surprised if Hurricane Ian didn't lead Disney to slash capacity in case the storm caused cast members to be unavailable. As people returned to work and operations returned to normal, they probably started to increase capacity, feeling confident that they could accommodate more people.

Why do I say this? A week ago, I was able to rebook my rental car through Costco for our trip next week for a rate that was closer to pre-pandemic levels, and I cheered. The last few days, I've been checking, and rates have tripled from that super-deal and double what my previous rate was. Some places are out of cars; I suspect that cars may been damaged...or demand is way up as many people probably had their vehicles flooded last week. (Some places are completely out.)
