Just had a long and detailed conversation with ME cast member about the process of getting the luggage (with and without the baggage tags). Turns out if you do not have the luggage tags they will use your baggage claim ticket (essentially the same thing), your address and your description of your bag (that you give them when you get there) to locate your bag off the conveyor belt. At that point they do put the Disney ME yellow tag on the bags for them to get routed to the resorts. So basically without the tag being sent to you the only reprocussion is that they will remove the bag from baggage claim using the baggage claim ticket, rather than when it first comes off the plane using the yellow tag. After talking to this CM I have to worries at all about getting my tags. Also grabbing the bags yourself is absolutely an option.

For those of you who have used DME but didn't get your tags on time....did yu do anything 'special' to your bags to make them easier to spot? I was thinking of using some Winnie-the-Pooh blanket binding satin, with some Dis lime green edging on it to make some ribbons for my bags. I usually have a little yellow ribbon tied onto the handles but I don't think that's enough for them to pick up. Then I thouht that maybe I could find somthing bright yellow and pretty wide that is ribbon like. Then I could put this on it...DME....BCV...family name....date. Any thoughts? I'm also going to take a digital photo before we leave home of our 3 bags, so we can just hand them the photo.
