Went to Olive Garden for lunch. Was thinking of the soup/salad lunch, but on the way in I noticed a big poster sandwich board advertising some new calzones for lunch at $6.95. DH was thinking the lunch sized lasagne

Our server informed us that they only serve lunch M-F. Sat and Sun you have to order dinner no matter what time it is. So much for our $25 GC covering the meal.

Live and learn.

As far as I know, most sit down restaurants do not offer their lunch menus on the weekend.

That not very shocking, must major restaurant don't have lunch specials during the week

Ours still offers the soup, salad and breadsticks but with an upcharge. Usually 4# more, but since I have not been to OG in about a year it may be more.

I thought they would offer the lunch options but at an upcharge. Ours does the soup/salad but it costs more as a PP stated. But most chain places only do the lunch specials during the week.

Olive Garden and Red Lobster use to offer lunch prices on the weekend. I am sorry that they ended it. We haven't eaten there in awhile so I didn't know they did this now.

I actually just left Olive Garden. I am doing weight watchers and decided on my meal before I went. I ordered a lunch portion apricot chicken. It was not a problem at all. It prob depends on which Olive Garden. It doesn't seem to be company wide- like the system won't let them. It can let them, they might not allow it at some locations. Doesn't hurt to ask.

That's pretty typical anywhere but you can do a meal for two at Olive Garden for 25 if you need to. They have the new menu options for I think it's 14.99 and it includes an entree and dessert and it is plenty big to share. Have water and the entire bill should be covered. DH and I do this all the time!

She is greedy and lied. Worked at OG forever. You won't get the M-F lunch price for soup/salad but yes you can order lunch portions at lunch prices.

We haven't been there in awhile. But whenever we do go on the weekends and they hand us the dinner menu, we ask for the lunch menu. They always bring it to us with no problem. I think if they said it was not available, we would probably leave.

hoping our local places have not changed. I have always asked for lunch size portions and have received and been charged lunch prices.

Sorry OP!

DH and I always order the lunch portion - even on busy Friday/Saturday nights. You just can't get the soup/salad/breadsticks for $6.95. I just ask for a lunch menu when we are seated. I always get full on the soup or salad before my entree arrives so I bring my entree home to eat for lunch the next day.

I've never expected to be able to order from the lunch menu on weekends, or at dinner time. Around here lunch menus specify M-F from 11-2 or 3.

We always order the lunch portion at our local OG as well. Day or night, week or weekend. We visited one about 45 mins away and did the same thing as well.
I never order the soup/salad as a meal, so not sure about that...but we definately get the lunch portion anytime.

I went a while ago on a Saturday and wanted the soup/salad lunch meal and we ordered it no problem. it was a few $$ more than the weekday price but still cheap.

We always order lunch items at Olive Garden for our DS. He is still young enough to get the kids menu items, but it doesn't fill him up. Our server suggested the lunch portion one time, and it worked great. We have done it for dinner or lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Never had any problems.

We actually just ate at Red Lobster yesterday (Sunday), and they gave us the lunch menu without us asking. :confused3

The general experience I've had at multiple restaurants is that lunch menus aren't offered on weekends. Interesting to hear there are some that still do, but they're fewer and farther between. Maybe its a franchise thing vs. corporate owned stores?

That said, given the last few times my family at at Olive Garden we all got sick, we swore off that evil place a long time ago...
