No lunch items sold at Olive Garden on weekends

The general experience I've had at multiple restaurants is that lunch menus aren't offered on weekends. Interesting to hear there are some that still do, but they're fewer and farther between. Maybe its a franchise thing vs. corporate owned stores?

That said, given the last few times my family at at Olive Garden we all got sick, we swore off that evil place a long time ago...

Last time I ate at WDW I got food poisoning, but decided not to cross it of my list.

This must be new because I take my MIL there all the time on the weekends (Saturday's) and order that meal. I did it just two or three weeks ago.

I have never eaten there that I haven't got sick, DH and 2 of the 3 kids as well. It's been over 5 years since I've eaten at one and have no plans to ever go again. :crazy2:

This is common for me as well, with Olive Garden and a few other restaurants that many others enjoy with no problems.

I have come to the conclusion that there is probably an oil or condiment that they use in all their food that simply does not... agree with me.:worried:
Honestly, I think it's an oil.

And in case I have not made myself clear, I don't want to describe what the food does to me because it's TMI :crazy2:
It's unpleasant and short lived and I can predict it.

Food borne illness symptoms and onset timing varies depending on the bacteria/virus/parasite involved.

I can't eat at Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday and some very popular non-chain Mexican restaurants.

That doesn't mean that those places are not safe with food or serve "bad" food.
It means that my body cannot tolerate their food- other people have no problem with it.
These food sensitivities/intolerances can run in families.
My mother has the same issues, as do her sister and my cousins.
Yeah, we're a fun bunch :rotfl2: (but we're great cooks! :rotfl: )

I am not trying to minimize your experience in any way.
Getting sick from food is getting sick and that is never fun.
Especially with kids :(

I actually think it's some kind of preservative or additive in the salad, the one daughter that did not get sick was the only one that didn't eat any salad. Maybe it's oil they use in the dressing? In any event, I'm NOT about to do any more "research"! :lmao:

you can ask for Ranch instead of Italian or the dressing on the side, just so you know. :) I've never been sick from eating at OG, that would make me sad. lol I don't eat there often, probably 2-3 times a year, but I like it when I do eat there!

We eat at our local OG a few times a month on the weekend and always get soup, salad and breadsticks. It's always 6.95 for us, never an up charge. Between the two of us and our kid, out total cost is usually no more than 25.

We ate at Red Lobster at lunch on a weekend a recently and they automatically gave us lunch menus. However I have many times asked for the lunch menu at dinner time and they always obliged. I think this is a great thing and something that not a lot of people know about!

I think it's the preservatives used on the salad. DH cannot handle it at OG or just about any other restaurant. DD and I are fine.

We don't go to OG often, but when we do, we look for OG coupons. $2 on lunch or $5 on dinner. Since weekends are a dinner menu, you can use the $5 coupon. Plus, you can go to Target and use your RED card to buy OG gift cards at 5% off. The combination help to save a bit.
