No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

Great Citricos reviews ladies!
I was sorry to miss this meal but we were snacking and drinking at DISapalooza whilst you were enjoying your fine dining experience ;)
Citricos is still the only signature restaurant we haven't tried, we must put that right!

Citricos hasn't been on our list in a while, but I'm really tempted to try it again. The dessert platter looks great, and I remember loving the chocolate-banana torte a few years ago. (The seasonal berry gratin was also delicious when we received it earlier this month!) We also love both of the breads that Citricos serves, and I'm intrigued by some of their current appetizers/tapas (such as the chicken b'steeya).

Now I'm really hoping to try Citricos sometime soon. :thumbsup2 Glad your meal there was so great!

I will preface this review by saying that I was not a fan of Citricos. I had dined there twice previously, both times were a bust. :( The food was good but not good enough to make up for the poor service that we received. The first time was bad, the second time was worse. Yet I had decided that I should give Citricos one more try before permanently crossing it off my list and this was it...the last chance. It's now or never again.

{How's that for building up the drama and suspense?} :lmao:

So here is how it all went down for me that night.

I started out by ordering this light and fruity cocktail...

White Wine Sangria

I remembered how much I like the kalamata olive bread that they serve here.

I knew that I really liked their Sautéed Shrimp appetizer, but decided to try something new (for me)...

Arancini - Crispy Risotto with Italian Sausage, Mozzarella, and Poma Rosa Tomato Purée

It was tasty and I'm glad I gave it try but next time I would stick with the shrimp. ;)

As Beth already told you, we decided to share an entrée and chose one that I had not had here before...

My 1/2 share of the Oak-grilled Filet of Beef served with Hominy-Cheddar-Potato Purée, Balsamic Caramelized Onions, Peppadew Peppers, Arugula Greens, and Cabernet Demi-glace

This was absolutely delicious, so very tender and flavorful. :thumbsup2

And then for the "Pièce de résistance"...

Our Dessert Platter - Take II

While I was partial to the Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte, the Berry Gratin, Tiramisu, and Cheesecake were all quite tasty too. This dessert platter was better than the one from Flying Fish. Could it get any better than this? ;)

Oh, and I almost forgot our Limoncello toast, also compliments of the Chef...

I'm not a fan of Limoncello so had only a few sips before passing my glass over to Hunter to finish.

So there is one last question to be answered...How was the service? :scratchin

THE SERVICE WAS GREAT!!! :thumbsup2

Another wonderful meal in the company of great people. :goodvibes Thanks Citricos, and in the words of the Terminator..."I'll be back!" ::yes::

hello. sorry for the delay with my part of the dining review for friday. i was in disney for the long holiday weekend & returned late last night.

despite emme & i staying the shortest amount of time (1.5 days), we had a great time meeting everyone. my only regret is that i wish i had more time or could have cloned myself to be in 3 places at one time.

emme & i arrived in disney early friday evening. we had dinner adr's at ohana and after changing out of my scrubs and into disney attire at AOA, we made a frantic drive to the polynesian for our ADR.

11958181496_baf0a435e6.jpg

emme & the beautiful AOA christmas tree

rachel & corey would be meeting us & afterwards we would be attending MVMCP. our dinner was early enough so that we wouldn't miss any of the party (or so we thought). after texting rachel (you probably read about her super late bus ride), i decided to grab a drink at tambu lounge while we waited.

11958188056_3b134c2e7d.jpg

Ice cold Stella Artois

the stella went down too quickly & easily. i contemplated another one but decided that i needed to make room for dinner.

rachel asked if i could check us in earlier & then the pager went off. still no corey & rachel. i let them know and the hostess said that once they arrived, they would seat us immediately. if any disney hostess tells you this ever, this is a LIE! LOL.

finally, we see rachel & corey. unfortunately, our immediate seating turned into another 25-30 minute wait for the table. it was inevitable now that we would be getting a late start for the christmas party but at this point, all i wanted to do was eat. i was starving!

rachel had her DSLR and i had no desire to use mine so i snapped a few pictures with my iphone.

11958206366_2a1630c9a2.jpg

even though i consider the salad a "filler" (we're all there for the meat, aren't we?!), the salad is so refreshing and delicious. i love that the salad is lightly dressed and the papaya is so yummy! i don't feel like such a gluttinous pig when i eat some of the salad with the meal. big props to disney for not drenching the lettuce in dressing....that is one of my pet peeves. i can't stand over dressed salads. this salad is dressed perfectly.

11957805294_7d932a534e.jpg

i crave these potstickers from ohana. the filling is VERY authentic tasting. my mom makes a filling very similar to these. the wrapper is a bit thick which is why i'm a weirdo and only eat the middle of the potstickers. the potstickers were perfectly hot & incredibly tasty.

however....the wings. i really dislike these wings. i have issues with these wings. the skin is always soggy. i love me a crispy chicken wing but these wings are always cold and soggy. my aunt had a hot wing place and wings should be crispy hot. initially, these wings are totally crispy but because the sauce is so thick, it completely ruins a perfectly good wing. it is really tragic.

items not pictured as i was too busy stuffing my face: friendship bread (emme ate the inside of two loaves), veggies & lo mein, steak, shrimp & chicken plus dipping sauces

11957390545_897473e9b7.jpg

usually the pork is my least favorite meat of the bunch. but on this trip, the pork was deliciously moist and it had a really nice flavor. i enjoyed it very much.

my favorite meat was the steak on this trip. i had 3 pieces of perfectly cooked medium rare pieces. then it would be pork, shrimp & chicken (i have a fear of undercooked chicken)...but corey literally had 2 skewers of chicken & enjoyed it very much.

11957811824_a751bc3d14.jpg

this was my portion of bread pudding. rachel & corey split a portion. i don't have much of a sweet tooth but the bread pudding is pretty good. it's not life changing like others have reported and i like it with just a tiny amount of sauce. the best part is right smack in the middle. i had about 3 bites and was finished.

so what did emme eat for $16.95?!

she had some rice, milk and the insides of 2 loaves of bread. i did ask for some macaroni & cheese which they brought out of us. the sinfully good nuclear orange macaroni & cheese.

i wish they had a separate ala carte menu for kids like emme. $16.95 is such a huge price for a kid who doesn't eat much. it's not that she doesn't eat, we just don't eat a lot of american food at home. it's tough eating at disney with her & my wallet suffers for it. but i was talking to vicki about it & she made a good point that some children 3-9 eat like adults so $16.95 is a bargain. but until emme can eat $16.95 worth of food, i guess i will keep complaining. HA!

our server was kind of all over the place. i can't really fault her as it's a very tough place to be a server in but sometimes she'd just disappear and reappear. i enjoyed dinner but was still bitter about the cost of the child's meal & that emme ate so little. overall, i would return to ohana (seems like i always do!).

onwards to MVMCP!

i really hated starting the party so late. it is a very EXPENSIVE party and we were already about 1 hour late. i don't like feeling rushed & i felt like we were running out of time even though the party just started. the weather was sticky for december & it was pretty crowded.

11958466183_b9de4e5742.jpg

emme & rachel! (so happy i brought my flash with me even though it's so dang heavy)

last year, emme got the cutest picture with scrooge & scrooge was a character rachel really wanted to see. the line was SOOOO long for scrooge, daisy & donald. when it was our turn to see scrooge, he LEFT. so we took pictures with daisy & donald and as we were finished, here comes scrooge.

ever see the family (or better yet, standing behind the family) who takes FOREVER with pictures and has like 10 different photographic devices going off at the same time? that would have been us. it was a total hot mess trying to get a picture with scrooge but we did it to the dismay of those behind us in line.

and after all that talk about scrooge, i didn't get a single decent picture.

12078162396_efa00b816d.jpg

picture from rachel's camera & one of the few with all three of us (emme's doing a great job looking at her feet)

11958607594_70148b02f5.jpg

donald & daisy were so cute in their winter outfits. i love donald!

during MNSSHP & MVMCP, the princesses are escorted by their princess! it's such a great photo opportunity. i haven't posted my MNSSHP pictures yet (that will be in my other dining report) but emme was so excited to see the princes again.

11958469723_aa0d5218ac.jpg

11958184825_5b46ed69bb.jpg

anyone notice the pink piggy bank? emme (or rather me) carried that thing everywhere. she gets obsessed with one toy a week & drags that thing everywhere. cinderella & prince charming were totally geeking out over it. it was the funniest thing as did emme. they spent about 10 minutes with emme & asked emme to show them how the piggy bank worked. the piggy bank talks & sings too and they thought it was hilarious.

11958618104_9f5257ddd5.jpg

then we saw some more friends who also loved the piggy bank:

11959006596_25a3dd4f34.jpg

after emme & i finished our character meet & greets, rachel & corey had saved us a spot for the parade. we had a great view right on main street usa.

11958185815_3e4df84417_z.jpg

i loved the interaction between peter pan & pinocchio.

and our hosts for the evening:

and of course santa's helpers....

btw, emme passed out at the end of the night but i still got a picture with minnie.

11957405395_15bd02e2ee.jpg

after working 8 hours, driving 2 hours, dinner at ohana & MVMCP, i was exhausted. i felt rushed all day and was so happy to get to our room at AOA and sleep. it was a great 7 hours at disney and an awesome start to our very very short trip.

emme & i missed breakfast at crystal palace with barb, brenda & emily the following morning but we were looking forward to dinner at YSH later on in the evening.

Thanks Patty for your 'Ohana review and great photos. I especially liked the ones from the MVMCP parade. :thumbsup2

Patty's review completes Day 2 of our dining report. With Patty's arrival on Friday, our group had now grown to 12 and would very soon be 13. Consequently, Day 3 (Saturday, Dec. 7) was our busiest day food-wise, with two breakfasts, four lunches, and two dinners!!

So jump on board and fasten your seat belts folks, 'cause this Disney food train is about to leave the station. ;)

The picture of the pork looks so good!!!

I love the pics of the Christmas party... looks like a lot of fun

I just wanted to Thank everyone for all of their reviews. I have been lurking on this thread for a very long time and I have to say I am very sad to see it end. However, it is because of this thread that my husband and I will be eating at our very first signature restaurant, Flying Fish, for our first trip home as DVC members.

A big thank you to jabead and the group who went to Flying Fish, as it was your reviews that made up my husbands mind to where he wanted to eat. Mainly I think in was Hunter's adult milkshake that was the final decision maker. We are looking forward to this meal as we plan on sharing the pork and another side for our meal, I just hope we enjoy it as much as you did and as much as I have enjoyed all of your reviews.

Saturday December 7, 2013 - Crystal Palace Breakfast

As Barb noted, this day was packed full of Disney dining and for our small group it started with a morning at Magic Kingdom. Beth, Barb, Em and I had breakfast plans at Crystal Palace which meant we would not only be having to make some serious buffet choices but we would also get a squeeze from Pooh and his friends.

There’s three breakfast items that I adore in WDW; Mickey waffles, macadamia pineapple pancakes, and puffed French toast. CP has two out of three of those items so I was pretty happy that throughout the months of planning and changing ADRs that this one remained on our schedule.

Although I’m a huge CP breakfast fan, Em may only be a marginal fan since she doesn’t need the characters to make a great dining experience. I swear she's my kid.

Before being seated we posed for a group photo in front of the character topiaries near the entrance:

DSCN6536.jpg

Right when we were seated Pooh came by to visit so we all posed for photos with Pooh.

After that character interlude it was time to hit the buffet. It wasn't too crowded so I was able to get photos of most options. Shall we see what was served?

Breakfast lasagna. Want to know what's in this? Layers of waffles, pancakes, and pound cake with strawberries and bananas topped with pastry cream and caramelized sugar. A very healthy option if you remove everything but the strawberries and bananas.

I also had an omelet for the first time – a ham/cheese version that was perfectly cooked.

And then the plate that was the reason that I was delighted we were booked at CP – my Mickey waffles and Pooh’s puffed French toast.

The PERFECT Breakfast food anywhere!

Em started with an omelet, a bagel, and toast since it looks like she couldn’t decide between the two.

She then moved on to a plate of fruit and her usual buffet cereal option of rice krispies.

What a great dining experience with these ladies!

Fab breakfast review and pictures Brenda :thumbsup2 I just love Crystal Palace - for the puffed french toast more than anything but Winnie the Pooh (or Windy Pooh as my DD used to call him) et al are just as good a reason to dine there. Eeyore is my absolute favourite (I may well have a bit of Eeyore's personality too so maybe I identify with him).

Loving all these reviews ladies :)

Now I'm seriously craving some 'Ohana bread pudding!

Crystal Palace also looks like a lot of fun. I haven't been there in at least 5 years, but breakfast was always a nice way to get into the park early. :thumbsup2 As for the food, I could happily enjoy some Mickey waffles/puffed french toast with strawberry topping right now (as well as some smoked salmon and fruit, to keep things healthy).

Great CP photos!!!

We enjoyed our breakfast there - esp the croissants! That breakfast lasagna is sinful.

Although, I always wonder how much dry cleaning those costumes must go through -- all those sticky, syrupy fingers giving high fives and hugs! :lmao:

Wonderful buffet photos Brenda! I always try but then when people are around I put the camera away! Looks like you had a fun breakfast!! Hunter and I were sleeping lol.

How cute is the Pooh suit the baby behind Barb is wearing?:lovestruc

I've not been to WDW at Christmas, but have been to DLP a number of times, even had real snow there! Those reindeer in Patty's photos are so cool!

And Brenda - that was an amazing review of CP. I like to imagine you shove the other guests out of the way so you get a good clear shot :rotfl:

Keep them coming - these reviews are a great respite from the grotty UK weather :thumbsup2

(I may well have a bit of Eeyore's personality too so maybe I identify with him).

Loving all these reviews ladies :)

I don't see that Joh! :)

As for the food, I could happily enjoy some Mickey waffles/puffed french toast with strawberry topping right now (as well as some smoked salmon and fruit, to keep things healthy).

With your side of broccoli at CHH I definitely see where you keep it healthy too! I think we all agreed that should have been a point deduction! Too funny. :rotfl2:

Although, I always wonder how much dry cleaning those costumes must go through -- all those sticky, syrupy fingers giving high fives and hugs! :lmao:

That's a great point Julie. I may have to bring some wipes and make sure there are no sticky spots on the characters from now on. Not sure what they would think of that.

Wonderful buffet photos Brenda! I always try but then when people are around I put the camera away! Looks like you had a fun breakfast!! Hunter and I were sleeping lol.
Thanks Paula! I figured you were after that wild night at Citricos! :lmao:

I was on the plane hurrying to join the fun!! : )

And we were anticipating your arrival! :woohoo:

And Brenda - that was an amazing review of CP. I like to imagine you shove the other guests out of the way so you get a good clear shot :rotfl:

Keep them coming - these reviews are a great respite from the grotty UK weather :thumbsup2

Ha ha! Doesn't everyone here wear their official DisBoards Dining Reviewer badge so everyone knows to stay out of the way??

~~~~~~~~~
I'm looking forward to Barb and Beth's reviews up next. :)
