No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

I loved your very scientific method of choosing your entrée! I knew they delivered the wrong entrée but for a second there I thought I had missed you whipping out your camera to take photo!

We really enjoyed lunch with you and Whoopi was a great CP narrator.

Barb- I had to laugh, I would have ordered the " ham and cheese" sandwich out of fear of mispronouncing the proper name :lmao:

I can pronounce Barb's sandwich name.. all in thanks to my hubby lol. One of his favorite French items is a Croque Madame.. Almost the same thing but with a sunny side egg on top and usually more of the beschemel sauce! Supper rich and yummy!

While it wouldn't have been my first choice of cocktails if paying, since it was free it went down just fine. :thumbsup2

This made me laugh. I've never met a free cocktail I didn't like either!! :lmao::rotfl:

Loving all your reviews, although as I'm still trying to lose the weight I gained in August I'm only glancing briefly at the photos ;)

Great reviews! I can't wait to eat at France again. Your reviews look so good.

And wasn't the Candlelight Processional awesome! Whoppi Goldberg would have been awesome to see. We had someone I didn't know of on Christmas day, Stephen Curtis Chapin. He did great and I loved it, but it would have been greater for me if I had known the narrator. But the trumpeters more than made up for it. WOW!

So where did we dine next?

We saw Whoopie that night too but at the 8:00 show and I thought the same thing about her slipping into Sister Mary Clarence mode hahaha! I have recently became a tiny bit obsessed with St. Germaine cocktails so this is now another reason to schedule Le Chefs for October (along with the bacon and onion flatbread) !!

Just caught up :goodvibes
Paula - great review of Raglan Road. We still haven't gotten round to trying that place!
Brenda/Barb - looks like the CDF lunch as a great success.
Nice touch with the complimentary champagne cocktails :thumbsup2

Now time for 'Ohana dinner that Corey, I, Emme, and Patty attended. We had a huge huge travel issue. We left AK about 20 minutes before our reservation, in hindsight we should have left earlier.

From the Polynesian you stop at the Contemporary first. We got to the contemporary about 5 minutes after our ADR. Patty and Emme were already waiting for us at Tambu lounge.

One of the reasons it took so long because there was this lady in a scooter that could not control it. I am guessing she had some sort of disability because her older mother was with her. She literally had to stand right behind the scooter and move the handlebars with her daughter on it. Anyways, it took her about 10 minutes to get in. So, we stopped at the contemporary and of course these people had to get off then. So in the midst of trying to get this scooter steered out of the ramp, someone outside was running, tripped on the bus scooter ramp, and fell and hit her entire face in the cement. She was unconscious on the path of the bus so the scooter could not get out. We also could not get out because of the injured person. We should have asked to go out the front door but I didn't think you could open the front door if the ramp was down. So we were stuck and the bus driver didn't even address us. Anyways, we were stuck until 6pm on the bus. Finally they got the injured lady up and we thought we were free to go. Nope- the bus driver sent us all off of the bus and we had to take the monorail.

So, we were a whole hour late to our reservation just because of the bus incident. I was so upset because the christmas party was at 7 so we were going to be late, which I was po'ed about because I paid so much for it.

Anyways, I was trying to not let it bother me and make the best of it. Plus, we were at my favorite disney restaurant: 'Ohana!

Thankfully they sat us even though I was late. It still took a while though once we were there.

Once we sat down the food started coming out!

At first I was really upset about this salad change but I do like this salad a lot.

Potstickers (and wings) I love the potstickers and don't care for the wings!

Vegetables (and noodles) I love the veggies and don't care for the noodles! Sense a trend here?

I just love the meat here. I started with chicken which was great!

Shrimp!

I love this shrimp!! It is great that they are butterflied because they are easy to peel.

I must not have got pictures of the steak. It was good this time but a little too cooked for me.

Now time for bread pudding- my favorite disney dessert!! I took multiple pictures of this beauty.

I really enjoyed my meal! It was great and we had efficient service. Maybe not the most friendly but I got everything I needed.

Now time for the christmas party that we were an hour late for...grrrr. I was so not happy about that. To be honest, I was not that happy with this christmas party. With the whole being an hour late thing and the fact that it was right in the middle of parade taping so the wreaths/garland were not up and everything was in disarray because all of the taping equipment was still laying out. I will never go to the party again right around the parade taping.

But I did get some good pictures!

Corey and I stopped for a Lefou's brew

And a photo

I loved the new Celebrate the Magic with the frozen segment.

My favorite fireworks part was the Oh Christmas Tree segment!

We had great snowy seats for the fireworks!

After the parade we got snickerdoodle cookies. I love this christmas party cookies! they are so good.

All in all a fun night with good food with good friends, even though it was less than perfect I was still happy!

Would love to go for Christmas - great photos.

Shame about your disappointment at getting to Ohanas but glad to see that they still serve the Banana sauce (yuck) separately because I love the bread pud without it. :)

Wow! I remember your bus story but sheesh, that's too bad. At least you were able to enjoy one of your favorite meals! :thumbsup2 I didn't think I'd like the new salad but even though I miss the old, the new is fine. Just don't change that bread pudding!

Sorry I went missing for awhile. I caught a nasty flu bug earlier this week and have been pretty much down for the count for the last four days. Feeling somewhat back to normal today, I thought I would do some catching up here.

Barb- I had to laugh, I would have ordered the " ham and cheese" sandwich out of fear of mispronouncing the proper name :lmao:

Hi Beth! I probably should have gone with ham & cheese to begin with and saved myself some time and embarrassment, but then I wouldn't have had this humorous (and slightly ironic) "chicken" story to tell here. ;)

I can pronounce Barb's sandwich name.. all in thanks to my hubby lol. One of his favorite French items is a Croque Madame.. Almost the same thing but with a sunny side egg on top and usually more of the beschemel sauce! Supper rich and yummy!

Hi Paula! I seem to recall you getting a Croque Madame somewhere at Disneyland and that it sounded good. Not sure about the sunny side up egg though. I used to eat my eggs that way when I was young, but now that I'm old I prefer the yolks cooked through. So if you order your sandwich this way, with the egg cooked "over hard" would it then be a Croque Mémère?

This made me laugh. I've never met a free cocktail I didn't like either!! :lmao::rotfl:

Did somebody say free cocktails? ;)

Great review of CdeF Brenda and Barb :thumbsup2

Hi Jeanette, Linda, & Joh! It seems like free cocktails are especially popular with the ladies from the UK. :thumbsup2 I was very lucky to dine with people who "knew people" on this trip, which resulted in a few more freebies along the way...so stay tuned. ;)

Hi Sue! It looks like our paths just might cross again, as many of us are planning trips in October. I hope so! :)

Great reviews! I can't wait to eat at France again. Your reviews look so good.

Thanks Chris! I totally agree with you about the Candlelight Processional. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see it again...twice.

And as you have seen, Rachel & Patty's dinner at 'Ohana was up next. However, Patty is currently at WDW celebrating Emme's birthday so is unable to add her review of 'Ohana. So I think that we might switch things up just a bit and post the reviews from our other dinner. Then once Patty returns home she will be able to give you her take on their 'Ohana dinner. :thumbsup2

Citrico’s is a favorite restaurant of my husbands and I’s so when Barb asked if I would make a reservation for the group on this night I was more than happy to! We would have dined there anyways even if the group wasn’t going to!

ry%3D400

Hunter and I actually arrived well before the rest of the group so we sat at the bar and enjoyed a little snack to tide us over.

ry%3D400

Charcuterie Platter - Serrano Ham, Sopressata, Dry Pork Coppa, Beef Bresaola, Palacios Chorizo, Duck Rillette, Violet Mustard, Pecorino Romano, Medjool Dates, Bread and Butter Pickles, and Marcona Almonds
We enjoyed this with a glass of wine.

When it got closer to our reservation time I went to check in as the rest of the group said they would be there promptly at ADR time.

A few minutes before they arrived we were seated so I just headed back to the front to lead them to our table. The beautiful ladies joining us tonight were Barb, Beth, Brenda and Emily.

Unfortunately I did not get a picture of the whole group but I believe Brenda did so hopefully she will post it when she posts her update!

Once we were all seated we began to peruse the menu

Complimentary Bread and butter

And this is what happens when 2 DIS’ers try and take a picture at the same time!
ry%3D400

Hunter and I decided to share both an Appetizer and an entrée.

We went with one of our favorites for both.

The Pork Belly!
ry%3D400

Tamarind-grilled Bershkire Pork Belly with Hominy-Cheddar-Potato Purée

And the Short Ribs (split for us in the kitchen!)
ry%3D400

Madeira-braised Short Ribs Golden Potato Gnocchi with Wild Mushroom Ragoût and Piccante Gorgonzola

A meal at Citrico’s is not complete without some Lemonchello!
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

As had happened the previous night Hunter talked to the chef and we were served a delightful assortment of desserts!
ry%3D400

Seasonal Berry Gratin with a Champagne-Grand Marnier Sabayon, Lemon-scented Cheesecake with a blanket of White Chocolate Ganache, Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte with Vanilla Ice Creamand Handcarfted Belgium Couverture Chocolate Crown, Tiramisù with Italian Galbani Mascarpone and Chocolate Sauce

I’m pretty sure those are the desserts! If anyone else recalls differently please correct me!!

My happy husband at the end of the meal!

The beautiful Grand Californian Christmas Tree!

Every time I see a review of Citricos, I wonder why we have only eaten there once. Your meal looks really good and that charcuterie platter looks great!

If we are lucky enough to get back in September, I am planning more non-ADR, lounge type dinners but Citricos may actually rate an ADR!

Looking forward to Barb & Brenda/Em's meals!

Brenda's Citricos Dinner Update

Friday December 6, 3013

Em and I have eaten at Citricos 4 or 5 times before so we were looking forward to returning with our Dis friends. Having rushed from our CP show at Epcot we quickly dressed for dinner and then took a taxi from BWV to Grand Floridian. We arrived about the same time as Barb and Beth to meet up with our party in the hostess area of Citricos.

This was one of those meals where there was a lot of laughter and hilarity and a few cocktails so if I don’t recall all the details I at least have a few photos! Beware if you are sitting next to Hunter during dinner! It's best not to drink anything that at any moment could be launched out your nostrils from giggling fits. Don't way I didn't warn you.

Kitchen:

DSCN6343.jpg

We were introduced to Chef Philip by Paula and Hunter since he was at the table chatting with Hunter and I’m sure being cautioned to not serve him something that would trigger an allergic reaction for which Paula’s nursing skills would come in handy.

Drink order for me, a Bloody Mary – with olives please.

DSCN6346.jpg

I’m a huge fan of the olive bread at Citricos with the salted slab of butter. If we ever eat as a group again I think we need to tell the server, MORE OLIVE BREAD, less multi-grain bread. (I think it was multi-grain? My dining companions may need to correct me)

So…. After perusing the menu and realizing that our late lunch at Chefs de France meant that I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy an entrée to myself I decided to go with an appetizer of the sautéed shrimp. Em was in no mood to share so she ordered the filet, which she has had before and really liked.

Sauteed Shrimp: Lemon and white wine, tomatoes, and feta ($15.00)
DSCN6361.jpg

I’ve had the sautéed shrimp before; however, my memory of this dish wasn’t as wonderful as the reality of how tasty it was this time. I was really, really, REALLY glad that I had ordered this light alternative that was delicious. The pungent feta was perfect for the lemon/white wine sauce. There was nothing wrong with this dish.

Oak Grilled Filet of Beef: Hominy-cheddar potato puree, balsamic caramelized onion, Peppadew Peppers, arugula greens, and Cabernet demi-glace ($43.00)

DSCN6365.jpg

Em ordered her filet medium-rare which was exactly how it was served. I was a little worried that she wouldn’t like the hominy-cheddar accompaniment but she thoroughly enjoyed this.

While we were eating our entrees, the MVMCP fireworks were viewable through the windows.

DSCN6371.jpg

Through Hunter’s connections with the chef at this restaurant we were served their house-made Limoncello. I’m not a fan so I’ll pass on declaring it amazing but it was served ice cold in a cool little glass. They definitely get points for the presentation and the chef coming to the table and presenting and pouring the drinks. Well done!

DSCN6405.jpg

For dessert, again, we were fortunate to be dining with Paula & Hunter since they were presented with a “compliments of the chef” amazing dessert creation. I have no clue what anything was called without looking at the dessert menu and doing a process of elimination but it was a beautiful sight to behold!

DSCN6394.jpg

I tried a few bites of the cheesecake option. Very tasty!
Here’s the damage done to the dessert tray after we had our way with it!

This was a fabulous meal with a great group of friends! I'm so glad to whomever made the decision to dine here and for Paula and Hunter for having connections! ;)

I'm sorry to say that this thread is no longer for live updates. The current updates to the thread are from a group of us that went in December and we are doing our reviews.

Feel free to do a dining review of your own! We would love to read it! :)

Okie Dokie , will do , I imagine it was a lot of work for Jabead to keep it up , my PDR will keep me going until then , now to come up with titles ;)

[/Warning: My pictures were taken with my iphone so in comparison to my Diser friends, my pics are not that great....ok now with that out of the way here is my take on Citricos

It was my first time... and it will hopefully not be my last. I am so glad I was able to eat here

I started out with a Hendricks martini---extra dry

Sauteed Shrimp - lemon and white wine with tomatoes and feta

This was delicious. The sauce was so good.... and the shrimp was perfect

Oak Grilled Filet with cheddar potato puree
If memory serves me right, I split this with Barb and it was brought out already split and it was the perfect size, It was also excellent. All of it, the beef and well as the potato and I usually do not eat much potato but I could not leave it alone

Hunter is friends with the chef here so we were treated to

housemade lemoncello complete with a table side pouring

It was very crisp and refreshing

We were then brought this

I have no idea what everything was but I do know that I ate too much of it because it was so good

I loved Citricos. It was one of the best meals I have ever eaten at Disney
SIZE]

Oh my goodness, Citrico's looks absolutely amazing. I am not normally one for signature restaurants or fine dining, being quite fussy (picky) but the pork belly and filet looks fabulous. And I would love to try the cheesecake.

Wondering if I can persuade DH to take me here in October (or if any of the DIS ladies who will be there fancy doing a ladies only dinner ;) )
