When we stayed in the Sports resort, we had a handicapped accessible room (it was all that left) but I understand the shower not being "in" a shower stall, it was just divided by a shower curtain and the water went into a drain in the floor.....the one thing I did NOT like was there was no lock on the bathroom door, which led to a very embarrassing moment for me. Are all of the value resort rooms like that, where there is no lock? or did I just "luck out" that one trip? :worried:

I would think that not having a lock on the bathroom door was because it was a "handicapped accessible room" and that person may need help.

I would guess it's a safey issue all around. Kids can and do lock themselves in bathrooms all the time . So for safety sake I'm guessing Disney doesn't put locks on door on purpose!!! That way concerned parents are calling at all hours if the night for maintenance to come rescue their kid and kids don't get scared with hysterical parents yelling at them through the door !!! If you find that not to fit your needs maybe next time bring something that indicates the throne room is in use!!!

The standard room at MOD resorts have locks on the bathroom doors.
So I would think it would have something to do with being
Handicaped accessable. In case a Handicaped person might need
an assistant or help, someone else could go in and help them.

There is no reason for an HC accessible bathroom to not have a lock.

That's what the double sided locks are for. If someone needs help it can be controlled from the outside. They are extremely inexpensive.

We recently stayed at BLT and there were no locks on those bathroom doors either. So I think it might be all Disney resorts. :confused3

I would have prefered if there weren't locks on the door, so I wouldn't have to worry about my kids accidentally locking themselves in there. ;)

Every room we stayed in (value and mod) had a lock on the bathroom door. MIL had a handicapped accessible room (connected to ours at Pop) and I believe it had a lock, but am not sure.

To be honest, I never noticed if there was or wasnt a lock on the bathroom door I've stayed at POP 3 times. It has always just been me and my husband in the room, although last trip was our first with our son (13 months at time) so it has never mattered!

I stayed in the AS before and was given the same room. The lock on the bathroom door was a non-issue. If the door was shut, I just assumed someone was in there or I would knock.

I actually liked that room the best of my 3 All Star stays, bathroom was bigger, room came with a fridge and a King size bed.

I need a lock on the door because we have a 2 and 3 year old that get into the toilet, unroll toilet paper and dont want them to get hurt in the bath tub.

Anyone have ideas on how to secure the doors?:confused3

You could bring one of those thingies that go over the door knobs that make it hard for the kids to open, you know from the safety sections of babies r us, etc. You would just need to know if the resort you were staying in had a knob or lever handle. Put the cover on the knob and shut the bathroom door.

Of all the resorts we've stayed at (see my siggy) CR was the only one without a lock on the bathroom door. The bathroom door is a sliding door instead of a regular door and there was no lock. It didn't shut that tightly either. That was one of the things I really did not like about CR, the bathroom door and sinks!

I've never stayed in a HC room so I can't comment if they are lockless or not.

No that is not the case but it is definitely the case at BLT and many have complained.

I thought all the HA rooms at the value resorts were King Bed rooms. Are you telling me that you will share a bed with someone but have an "embarrassing moment" in the bathroom with the same person?

I was placed in a HA room at WL a few years ago. There wasn't a bathroom door at all! There was a wide archway that faced the two sink vanity. If you turned to the left, there was a toilet in a room (no door) and if you turned to the left, there was a roll in shower with a curtain. Turns out I won the lottery on that trip, because I ended up very ill with a fever and chills flu, so I needed the shower with the seat and grab bars everywhere because I was so dizzy! But it was definitely a different setup than the regular rooms.

Depends. The rooms with a roll in shower instead of a tub; all of those are rooms with a king bed at the values. Those are the most 'known' rooms amongst the 'have no need for it'-public, so to say. ;) Besides those, there is a second type of handicap accessible rooms; rooms that are basically the same as a regular room but with grabbars in the bathroom area, an elevated toilet etc. Those do have 2 queens instead of a king.

Fla4fun; sounds like a mishap from maintanence and/or mousekeeping. In the rooms with a roll in shower at value and mod, there is supposed to be a sliding door between 'living/sleeping room' and the bathroom. Right in front of the sink. Basically you can close of the bathroom area from the rest of the room but the shower not from the toilet, unlike you can in a regular room.

Brandee; you've kinda lost me. Why would you need a lock on a bathroom door to keep kids safe? Wouldn't that only work if an adult is INside of the bathroom already, being able to operate that lock? It's not like those locks can be operated from outside of the bathroom. With an adult in there already, isn't there always somebody handy already to keep the kids out of danger? An oops-moment perhaps, but nothing like danger. Or am I missing something here?
