DH and I are staying at SSR in August - to take a break after our daughter's wedding. Just us, and no park tickets. So...what to do? Pool, spa, eat.... Suggestions?

In addition to relaxing at SSR how about Disney bus to the MK then monorail or boat to the GF and/or Poly. Or the Wilderness Lodge. Lots of things to see and do at those hotels.

I like checking out the lobbies of the deluxe resorts and most are truly amazing. I would also recommend going to guest services at SSR and ask if they have an activities calendar. Some resorts offer tours, presentations, etc.

Yehaa Bob show, Jellyrolls, resort tours, resort restaurants, spa, pool, tea at GF, boat to Disney Springs, campfire singalong at Fort Wilderness, mini-golf, there is so much to do even without the parks!

Check out the quiet pools as well as the main pool at SSR. We stayed in the Paddock last time, and the "quiet" pool there was really nice and had a fun slide!

See Wishes from the beach (at the Poly?!) if you want to see them.

Mini-Golf at Fantasia Fairways. Bowling at Splitsville. Cirque du Soleil (haven't seen this one but the Cirque's shows are amazing!). Dinner at Raglan Road.

Take in a HDDR one evening and a hayride at FW . Plus all you could take a canoe ride i think it is $11.00 and rent a cane fishing pole. You can get some bait at grocery store.Stand on Polynesian Beach and see Wishes firework show. I f you golf you have plenty of opportunities.

there is plenty to do at WDW - offsite as well.

of course you can also just relax - how many times will you be there w/o kids.... (or grandkids)

Resort hopping is definitely one my favorite things to do if I'm not going to the parks
-Bus to MK, hop onto the monorail, check out each of those resorts (bonus points if you boat to Wilderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness, extreme bonus points if you end the night off with Hoop Dee Doo, or even chip & dale's campfire singalong and the movie lol) grab a snack and a drink at each location, explore, relax, take some pictures.
-Walk around the Boardwalk, check out Jellyrolls, the Yacht & Beach Club
-I always love Animal Kingdom Lodge, make a resso at one of the restaurants (or go for the QS) and spend some time checking out the animals!
-Downtown Disney has a LOT of stuff to do too! And you're just a short walk away, hit up some shopping, grab a bite and a beer at Ragland Road, check out the Hangar Bar, grab a movie, definitely get some chocolate from the new Ganacherie (sp??)

If you time walking between the Poly and GF, there's a great view of the fireworks from the beach
