In my docs I see that for casual attire nights that no jeans or shorts are permitted for the restaurants. It states "casual resort wear." That can mean a bunch of things to different people. Some would consider dress shorts for men appropriate resort wear. I am all for dressing up so that is not the issue but, what do the men wear?? Do they wear khakis or docker type pants on casual nights?? Do any women wear capris? What about small children? Can they wear coordinated short sets for these nights.

help...getting started on packing for our Thanksgiving cruise...yippee!!

Dockers/Khaki's, yup
Capri's, yup.
Co-ordinated short sets for the small kids? Yup.

Basically, they don't want people dressing down to. as an example, tees and jeans, or muscle shirts and shorts.

Don't panic, you're doing fine! You're reading the booklet, that's the best guide you can start with! :D

WHAT??? No muscle shirt 4nana? ;) :earseek: :eek:

We were on th3 3/01 Magic cruise. DH hates to get dresses up since he has to for work every day. On formal nights, we wore khaki's and a jacket, same for Palo's but on non-formal nights he wore shorts and no-one said anything. It must have caught on because we noticed a lot of men in shorts!! Heck, your on vacation. You should dress comfortable!!

Yes, you're on vacation, and yes, you should dress comfortably.

Cotton Dockers (or something similar) and a cotton polo shirt (or any other collared shirt) are very comfortable. Long pants -- in addition to being more appropriate -- are, in my opinion, more comfortable in the highly air-conditioned dining rooms. I'm not sure I would call simply wearing long pants and a shirt (that's not a tank top or t-shirt) "dressing up."

What about the first night. I have read that we might not get our luggage before our early seating. We will all be in shorts and shirts (not muscle shirts.... haha) and I was planning on keeping the kids in these outfits. I too have dressier shorts and blouses that I was going to wear, just in case our clothes don't come. My hubby was also going to wear walking shorts and a golf shirt. This is not how we will dress for the other casual nights, but would this be okay for the first night, or do we need to bring a complete change of clothes in our carry-ons?

The only extra clothes we're taking in our carry-ons is our bathing suits! If we get all our luggage, our first night dinner clothes depend on which restaurant we are assigned to. If not then we will be eating in our orange Tigger t-shirts even if it's Lumiere's.

If DH comes on the cruise, he may end up wearing shorts to all casual dinners and eating at Topsiders on formal & semi-formal nights. But as someone said to me earlier - "just dont look at what he's wearing, at least he'll be on the cruise"

After what Ive been going through I dont care if DH goes to dinner naked as long as he cruises with DS and I! That's what really matters.

Don't get me wrong. Dockers and a golf shirt are VERY appropriate. Some people were dressed in shorts and TOO were comfortable. My point was, you don't have to dress with a jacket
every night!!

Just back from our cruise on 10/31 (did Orlando after) and let me tell you something about the dress code. There were people in Triton's with shorts on...belly shirts and jeans...and some other eye catching outfits. Everyone got treated the same way. Did I take a second glance...of course I did but I did not let it ruin my meal or make me think different about anyone. This one table near us never dress up for any dinner. The husband was always in shorts. No matter where. So Disney would like you to dress nice but they are happy to serve you any way you are dressed. By the end of the cruise I told me kids to wear whatever they were comfortable in. any other questions...please e-mail me...danbarbara@aol

Thanks Danbarbara!
If you wear a golf shirt and shorts, who can tell what you have on your legs while your sitting down? Belly shirts are taking it a little too far for dinner anywhere except outside.

I'd love to see their wedding album...

Your luggage should be in your room by 4:00. Ours has always been there before 3. They do state that the first night is 'casual' but they do a very good job if getting everyone their luggage in a timely manner. On the 3day in Oct they stated (at the sailaway party) that all luggage would be delivered before 4:00 and that is was requested that no shorts or jeans be worn in the dining room.

DH wore Dockers and golf shirt or a toned down tropical shirt. If I am going to put on a skirt he can put on long pants.
