It's never a holiday until there is a trip to the ER. My son-in-law stepped on a rusty nail while watching the young 'un play outside. It went thru his shoe and into his foot. He just messaged to say they got the shards of metal and rust out and he's waiting for antibiotics and a tetanus shot. He'll be OK... but Roseanne Roseannadanna was rigght: It's Always Something!

Here’s to a speedy recovery. Reminds me of the time my sister’s mother-in-law was wrapping Christmas presents up in the attic. Stepped on a nail. Did not realize until the next morning. Went right through bottom of her slipper and foot! Wine drinker on a mission 🤣

That stinks. Glad he's going to be okay.

In my house we call that "level 4 fun" .

Our most recent holiday injury was my niece broke her wrist while we were ice skating at our local amusement park's Christmas event.

So sorry ouch! I hope he recovers quickly, but for today he needs to let everyone else wait on him LOL!

:crutches:

OUCH! 🥴

Hope he's feeling better soon. At least he won't get tetanus. It's an old fallacy that people get tetanus from rusty nails. Tetanus comes from certain bacteria in soil. However, it's always good to have a tetanus shot if one hasn't had one in a while.

My DS18 and I were putting together a metal contraption for his PS5 racing game yesterday and we had to do a little improvising to get it set up. While we were using a drill and a sharp chisel I told him we need to be very careful so we don't end up in the ER.....

I wised up and used a hammer. Disaster averted.

Prayers for complete healing, I know all about rusty nails...

Glad it all worked out. My daughter was prone to strep when she was young. I remember a number of long ER waits on holidays. This was before the rise of urgent care centers, and the ER was the only option open.
