This is my pre-trip report/plan/slightly unhinged rambling for our very first ever WDW trip. I've decided to take my motley crew to Mickey's Vacation Home as we call it for 10 days of shenanigans.
We know this may be once in a lifetime, or at least once in a LONG time. Certainly it's apt to be our only WDW with Boy along, so we're trying to do an awful lot.
Hey, go big or go home, right?
The Cast:
Mama - Yours truly
HusbandMan - My personal superhero, every girl should have one.
Boy - Our firstborn, *just* 18 at departure date.
Cupcake - Our Mighty Girl, age 5.
We'll be staying at the Port Orleans Riverside January 5th through January 16th, booking the Deluxe Dining Plan and hoping that the historic dates for free dining hold for 2016 and that we can take advantage of that or a good room discount.
Flights are still a ways out, but we assume a late arrival because with the time change there's a 12 hour space between departure and landing. If we squeeze onto a 7 am flight (wibble) we still don't land until 7 and I'm told that means not counting on arrival at the resort until 9? Yeah, long day. There will be shameless application of bribes in the form of electronics and food.
We have 10 day non-hopper tickets and our plan includes 8 park days and 2 non-park days with the option of going to a park if we change our mind.
We're long time DLers, but WDW is a whole different thing.
We have a couple extra special challenges in our touring- Cupcake is autistic. High functioning, bright, daring and sunny, but with some sensory issues that are occasionally a challenge. One of the things we struggle with is that she, "seems so normal" right up until she doesn't and then people around us don't understand why she went from zero to freak out. Couple that with a Mama with an anxiety disorder and... well, lets just say we get a little special around the edges.
We'll be using a DAS for me (as needed, which I hope means "not at all") and a stroller as wheelchair tag for her to give her a space to escape to if she gets overwhelmed.
So.... that's our introduction. Next post will be our preliminary plan which, for those of you braving this trip report, will include some questions and fuzzy spots. Feel free (please!) to chime in with advice.
