I was on the December 16 sailing on the Fantasy and I was disappointed that there was no event for Gold CC members...is this something they are getting rid of across the board?

Yes, very sad. Although over the past few years the reception isn't worth attending. A glass of champagne and some Mickey Rice Krispy Treats isn't really worth the time...

I recall Castaway Club receptions from years past where DCL offered coconut shrimp and many other great snacks and a much better drink selection.

This is just one of the many little things that has steered us away from taking 2-3 DCL cruises each year and now down to 1 every year or two. As our children are now adults, my family prefers Norwegian now. DCL still offers a good product, just not the great product and value that it was 5 years ago.....

Sad indeed...they changed it in May 2017. We liked the Gold and platinum reception for the various snacks and drinks they offered as well as the Rice Krispie treats of course. And the photo ops with Mickey and Minnie or Mickey, Pluto and Minnie. Since we take 7 night cruises primarily we were bummed out that the new cut off is 8 night plus cruises. :(

When we attended the reception they didn't even have the Rice Krispie treats -- the only upside was that DH got his picture taken with the ship captain and Captain Mickey together.

Contrast that with the RCCL reception we attended -- they served several hot and cold appetizers and great desserts -- we "almost" didn't have room for dinner.

We've done several of the Gold/Platinum receptions (we tend to book longer cruises). Many times we had finger foods and drinks.

Sometimes only drinks.

Recently, the "reception" was drinks and small sweets at the Walt Disney Theater with a "backstage look" at a rehearsal.

Yes I have been to the one that was a backstage look at Aladdin and I thought that was pretty cool. Sad they don’t do anything if it’s under 8 nights now.

I get free internet, over 2 hours, no limit to bites, so much better IMO on Princess. I am using it now. However, I am happy to a degree with DCL, just wish they would be more loyal to loyal customers. I have 23 past cruises on DCL, including longer cruises.
