no funds :(

well - if it is a begging thread

"My husband pissed our money away" is a really poor sob story.

Sorry OP, I hope you at least got some fun out of whatever it was spent on.

Sorry if I was wrong. I only recently heard about that phenomenon so I don't know what those kind of posts look like. That just sounds like a lot of money to "piss away" so I got cynical. Maybe I need a vacation...

:guilty:

Sorry OP! $3000 is a lot of money.... what did he do with it?? Did he know you were saving for Disney or did you keep it a secret?

You'll love September! We just went in September and would go again during that time of year in a heartbeat!!

Holy crap my reading comprehension skills are deteriorating.

When I read it I could have sworn the OP was asking when specials will be released for September.

Question #1 Is - Was it "their" account, Her account or His account.... If its totally her account and the money was being saved for this purpose I'd be so angry. If it was their account then It was just household money to be used on anything....rent, utilities, drinking, vacations, the kids, you get the point.... Unless you BOTH agreed to this vacation and said This money will be for this and this only.

Question #2 Is - Was this money pissed away in one surprise transaction or was it slowly flushed away over a few months.

I suppose it should come as no surprise to me that it's so easy for everyone to jump on DH, not knowing anything about the situation.

But, let's be serious. OP hasn't given us any illumination as to what exactly happened, and there's any number of possibilities.

DH could have actually just frivilously blown all the money somehow.

Maybe a large expense came up, and there was just some miscommunication.

Maybe DH spent the money on things that OP knew exactly about, and just used the phrase "DH pissed away" in her frustration that the trip will have to be rescheduled.

Or, maybe it exactly the opposite as it seems, and DH only had to tap the "savings" because OP was "saving" money they really couldn't afford, or was frequently dropping multiple hundreds of dollars at the mall, then expecting DH to somehow pay the rent.

Point is, we don't know. And, as always, we only have one side of the story... really, given the brevity of the message, we don't even have that.

This is really well said!!

Honestly, my first reaction was "you have way more problems than trying to fund your upcoming trip". Good luck!

It's interesting how so many people have nothing more to add to the discussion than a criticism of other posters who ignored the OP's question and focused on the rest of her post. Only on the disboards is it considered polite to point out when others are not being (your opinion of) polite.

My suggestion for anyone on the internet is to be direct with the question and leave out the unnecessary details. The discount is going to be the same whether one of them lost a job, a thief stole their money, or one spouse blew it. Giving details is only going to cause people to comment on the details. In some cases, the person who creates the thread gives the details for a reason. Not saying this is the case here, but I have seen it used for a specific purpose in the past.

My suggestion to the OP is to go to the resort discount board and ask "Are there any discounts for September 2012?" This avoids people coming to conclusions and making comments that really has nothing to do with discounts in September.

Exactly!

Post # 3:
start watching for them around June

Sorry, I don't know how to multi-quote

Post # 11: "OP, in the event that several of us have misinterpreted your post, take a look at www.mousesavers.com for info on discounts. "

Post # 33: "Mousesavers.com has a chart of the various discounts in the past, when they were announced and what dates they covered. You might want to take a look there.
http://www.mousesavers.com/historica...html#codechart

If you're thinking about doing a package, you can book right now and put down a $200 deposit. When a discount comes out for your dates, you can always call to have your reservation changed to include the discount. In the meantime, instead of putting your Disney savings in a place where your husband may be tempted to raid it, you can just make payments on the reservation. Disney will accept multiple payments up to the date when the balance is due.

After the package is paid off, then you can start setting aside spending money by purchasing Disney gift cards."

Post # 35: "Keep your eye on the specials section of the Disney site and the sub forum for deals on the hotels forum here on the Dis. When we've booked free dining for Sept in the past, it seems like it was April/May when we booked. "

Post # 38: "My suggestion is to pick a date in Sept using the Mousesaver's chart as a guide and instead of saving the money pay it right to Disney as soon as you have it. If they announce a discount later on just call them and get them to apply the discount to your reservation. "

Post # 49: "Start keeping an eye out in April "

Post # 53: "OP - I find this sub forum helpful for things like specials:

A rule of the internet... if you post it, expect people to comment on it. If you don't want people to comment on it, then don't post it. In this case, if the OP didn't want people commenting about her husband "pissing away" the money, then she shouldn't have put that detail in there. Period. By providing that detail you are, in my opinion, giving people the "right" to comment on it.
