To Black's defense he didn't say that it would be out to Disney Visa holders on the 29th... that is what we all assumed due to historical info. His leak was GP for 8/1... don't get worried yet

On the other thread someone stated that their CM told them they saw a room only discount slated for August 1st release but nothing else.......so who knows if FDing will be extended at all

We already purchased a couple of MNSSHP tickets that we'll have to unload, but we won't be going if we don't get the price we have in our budget. We've already decreased the trip by 2 days to make numbers work.

I truly don't think the discounts would be posted online at DW.com until the current offers expired on 7/31, so maybe next Monday 8/05 would be a more reasonable time?

Another DISer said that her CM told her that this wasn't really a 'rumor' but more of a 'leak'.....so we will see....crossing my fingers and toes, taking a bath in Pixie Dust and making a wish.

I called last week to cancel a free dining trip from a PIN code once we found out our son's school gives "0"s now for any work missed during a family vacation. I just needed to push things back 2 days.

The CM told me to be patient and not do anything harsh until early August, we have until the 18th before we lose money.

There is something in the system, we just don't know where and when.

Sorry to go off topic, but really 0s for missed work?!? That school and I would be having a *lovely* conversation. Unfortunately, I can't take vacations in the summer as my school district would like. They know I take vacations in the fall and I schedule them with a teacher in-service or something. But if my kids got a failing grade because they were not allowed to make up work.....oh, the joy I would have talking to the teacher, principle, and Director of Cirriculum.

Everyone else seemed to have a pleasant experience with their CM this morning. I had just gotten the words about possible free dining out before my CM said "No. I wish people would stop looking at the social media sites. I've had 16 calls this morning." After her initial rudeness, she was more pleasant and said she works early mornings and hopes to talk to me again soon and encouraged me to make ADRS soon because they can fill up fast.

I wouldn't give up hope yet. Now I may be remembering this wrong but it seems to me that the Disney Visa discounts have been released some time during the morning, not right at 7am EST like the GP discounts. You have to wait until you see it up on the Disney Visa website before you can call in.

And remember, too, that this date was only a guess. There wasn't a real solid leak involved here.

I saw the information on something other than the DIS Boards so I got my hopes up. My TA even said we were next for an upgrade. I was very disappointed today when she called Disney and no discounts were released.

I taught school for 11 years and honestly it is very hard on the teacher to collect work to send with a student prior to the trip. It's a tad easier after but, still a lot of work on the teacher. Also, if the student is slow to grasp an objective that's covered while they are gone, the teacher has to take time away from the other students to reteach to the student who was absent. This is why the districts make it difficult.

That being said, I am taking my oldest out of kinder for a week this year to go. I will tell the teacher far in advance and work hard with my little to make sure she understands concepts so that, the teacher doesn't take time from the other kids because I choose to take my kid out for fun. LOL-can't win for losing.

That really sucks

I told my daughter's support staff (her 5th grade teacher, who she has again for 6th grade, her ASD teacher, her principal, and her social therapist) in April that she will be missing 7 days of school this fall so we could go to Florida.

They were very excited for her, and her teacher said to simply remind her ahead of time and she can either set aside work to go with us, or she can send home an extra page of homework each day for 7 days after she comes back, so she isn't over whelmed.

I refuse to do Disney in the summer. It's too hot, it's more expensive, and it's packed. I figured when I picked our dates that I wouldn't have many issues with the school- the 7 days she'll miss this fall are double what she missed all of the last 3 years each.
