Does anyone else think that this latest offer from disney...(free dining if you book whilst staying at disney up till DEc 31st) Makes it strongly look like there will be NO free dining offered to the public .
If they were going to offer it next April like the twp previous years for Aug/Sept...then This wouldn't be much of an offer now would it??

I think that perhaps that is the extent of free dining for next year. Only the people who book whist at Disney this year will get it> Oh and those who live in the UK.

Disney's earnings just came out, which were very good, but there are already rumblings that they can't keep the growth up. I think that this will probably mean that they will have to offer at least an equivalent discount to free dining. Late Aug thru Sept hotels will have to be as full as possible for DIsney to even hope to keep up the growth that investors will demand.

Oh and those who live in the UK.

The UK offer has now ended - it was only available for a limited time.

Believe me the UK offer is not as good as it sounds. We either have to book with one of the travel agents offering it - last year i did it all my self - booked my own flights, hotel, tickets and DDP direct with Disney which worked out at £1800 ($3250 approx) for 2 adults, 10 nights.

The exact same holiday booked through a travel agent here is £2320. ($4176 approx)
so we're not really saving anything - it works out almost as if we are paying for it anyway.

Others have also posted that when booking directly through Disney for Aug/Sept 2007, the CM told them to check back for free dining. Some CMs were as bold as to say it "will" happen.

I'm wondering if they did not see the numbers (not all rooms were booked) for free dining this past year, so they are offering the special in a few different ways this time? The UK special had to be booked by a certain date, same with the onsite pre-booking special.

I think (ok, hope) they are just seeing what other groups of people they could offer this special to...getting their "feelers" out and then offer it to the public in the spring. That's my wish anyway!! :)

Here's some pixie dust!! :wizard: :wizard:

I too wondered about this. I think the return guest promotion will give folks the opportunity to get the first choices of rooms by getting to book before the promotion is released. This will have an affect as some of the rooms with lower availability will be booked up, along with Pop like the last time free dining was released. I think this new promotion is a pre-booking promotion to a package that may/will be released next spring. THis will mean folks who are planning to book the Aug/Sep free ddp will need to make sure they have back up plans as the place they may want to stay at may not be available. I don't think disney will call it free ddp anymore, sort of like the return guest promotion that just started. It's just that the savings are exactly the same price as the DDP --which could mean that the DDP is free to you, or you could call it a discount off of your room. I can't wait to hear the details. I did see that it is a 3 night minimum and am waiting to see if there is a ticket minimum, whether one day or length of stay. We plan to go to WDW late August 2007 and stay at the DVC/BCV in a 2 bedroom, but will add the discounted package to our stay if the discount is good. I will be back at WDW in February and hope the promotion is extended as I will book my August trip then and try to get my package booked before it's released to the public. Only time will tell!! Can't wait for someone to fill us in on the details and am sure Mary will post when she knows anything too!

I think it will happen, with some new rules, by not offering it, they are going to realize that a lot people are going to change their trip plans. This new promo isn't offered to everyone, just something they're trying. I think there is still a good chance they'll offer it.
