No formal night???

I've just phoned DCL and the lady pulled up both my bookings (Aug 13 and Aug 20)and this is the schedule for my two weeks so guessing all the 7 night Meds will be the same:
Saturday - Casual
Sunday - Frozen
Monday - Casual
Tuesday - Casual
Wednesday - Casual
Thursday - Pirate
Friday - Casual

We had formal nights on both cruises and both times it was on the Sunday, the first sea day. The first cruise it was incorporated with Frozen night with the Frozen menu and Frozen deck party and the rest of the week was cruise casual. The second week we had the rotational menu on formal night with all the Frozen stuff moved to Tuesday night and a semi-formal night on Wednesday!

ETA: Oh and pirate night on Thursday on both cruises - however NO pirate buffet on deck! Not that we could have eaten anything because we were late dining, we just like watching Mickey come to the rescue and the fireworks. However I remember it being very popular when we cruised the Bahamas. When did the pirate buffet cease?

The Pirate Night buffet is held in Cabanas. Did you check there?

Hmmm....at first I was excited to read this as we are backpacking through Europe for 3 weeks before our Med cruise, but then I realized that I still have the Transatlantic and will still need a formal! LOL! I will just have to pick something up in Barcelona to avoid dragging it all through Europe!!

Don't worry about it -- we'll be with you on that cruise and I'm not planning on taking more than a sundress or a skirt and blouse and sandals. Bring a fancy scarf or shawl and you have two outfits out of one!

Yay!! Thank you :) I am always so paranoid! I already feared that we would look terrible hopping onboard the DCL with backpacks as opposed to real luggage. My husband tells me that I worry about things that no one else cares about, but I always feel like people are staring at me! HAAH!

Now how would anyone know that the backpacks you are boarding with are not merely just your carryons and you checked your luggage?!? After 10 cruises on Disney -- and 5 on other lines where they dress way more fancy than Disney passengers -- I've stopped worrying about what people think. Plus, as I'm always telling my daughter when she gets self conscious about cutting loose in public.......you'll never see most of these people again anyway ;) On HAL, formal night was like watching old Hollywood red carpet -- mink shawls and all! We were amazed at what people pack (and how the heck they fit it).

I really think the only time one might worry about repeating outfits is for the pictures. Otherwise, I don't think anyone else will notice (at least that's what I hope for LOL).

They probably aren't staring at you but...........if they are, that's a them problem not a you problem! If you can backpack for 3 weeks before a transatlantic cruise I say good for you, what an amazing experience, enjoy it and have the time of your life!

Thank you!!! This is our big trip of a lifetime! We will have a freshman in high school with us, a 7th and 5th grader as well and are beginning to realize that we won't have them too much longer before they are off in the world on their own, so this is a big memory making trip :)

yes -- we were lucky that my daughter travelled with us through her 20's. We've done all 50 states with her and I wouldn't trade any of it. What memories your kids will have -- and stories to tell! And please be sure to post a trip report about your backpacking experience! I'd love to read it.
