No fireworks fp+ for july 4th?

So I am booking FP, was able to get A&E that I wanted I want but it says FP+ for fireworks viewing is "closed for refurbishment"? Seeing as this is a patch of grass I am not sure how much refurbishment it would need. It is unavailable for the 3rd-5th.

Any clue why? Is it closed because of 4th of july?

I couldn't get the dessert party so I was banking on this for a spot. The electrical parade spot I think is a little too close to the castle, but I booked that as my alternative. (the fireworks will still be at 10 like normal... right?)

Also, FOTLK is still showing as refurb in july. Doesn't it open back up in June? When will that be available for booking? Oy. Anyone more knowledgeable than me want to explain what I am doing wrong?

The Hub is currently under construction, so I don't know if that is why the fireworks viewing is closed or not.

FOTLK was supposed to open yesterday, though I don't know if it did or not (haven't kept up with threads about it).

1. Here's a map that shows the FastPass+ reserved locations.
The MSEP FP+ area ceases to be "reserved" after the parade passes.
Regardless, it is too close to the castle, which blocks the view of many of the
major fireworks.
If you choose FP+ for MSEP only, I've included red arrows to show where to MOVE
for viewing Wishes (and Celebrate the Magic) right after the parade passes the parade FP+ reserved area.

I was able to book a June 10 FP+ for FOTLK just now so it may be that July dates just haven't been made available yet.

Thanks for the tip! I was there about a week and a half ago and they said the parade people were welcome to stay in our spots for wishes (they took the rope down though) and it was alright. Mostly blocked but I am a wishes fanatic and didn't care. This time thought with 9PM fireworks I guess that won't be an option. Looks like it's back to the stakeout early method.

Good to know! I'll have to put this into my list of daily stuff to check. I got scared it was being taken away again!

They are probably not offering FP+ firework viewing on those nights because from main street all the way up through the hub, it will be packed shoulder to shoulder. That's valuable real estate that they know will need to be used for the huge amounts of people there. Two years ago, we were there on the 3rd, and were just trying to get to Frontierland. It took us over an hour to make our way there due to the sheer amount of people standing around. Not only do they need the space, but they probably realize that there would be no way to stop people without fastpass+ from being in the reserved area. Even if you aren't trying to be, the force of all the people crowding you would just push you into the less crowded Fastpass+ area if they did have it available for reservations.
