Large party seeking P.M. cruise April 18, 19, 20, 21, 22!!! WE had reservations for our party of 12 at MK for 8:00 BUT Disney called today to say no fireworks. Major Bummer!!!

So now that it's pretty much too late, I'm hoping to hear of a cancellation!!! If anyone hears of anything available viewing a show any of those days, please let me know! Thanks

It's a grad night....thats why..the park closes at either 6 or 630 both thursday and friday

I saw on a post awhile ago that there is a private party on April 22 for a convention group. Grad nights are April 23, 24, 30, May 1, which are also early closings. They posted April hours with the early closing for April 22 at the beginning of February, I wonder why they only notified you now?

That is correct. April 22 is a park wide buy out. April 23 starts the grad nights.

No matter why it closes early and there's no spectacles, it's a bummer.

the buy out is that McDonalds is having a convention and has bought out the park, only open to them and their employees. The grad night happens annually for mostly local Florida schools. The MK closes early and they have graduation parties in the parks for the schools. this is the one bad thing about the week we will be there, early closings at the end of our week there. oh well.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

That stinks. We're honeymooning at the GF April 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

I heard about grad night on the 23rd but assumed there would still be fireworks for the grads.......

Does anyone know if there are no fireworks that night either?

That was a pretty big factor in the romance of staying at the GF, being able to watch the fireworks from the beach or possibly the balconey of our room.

When we stayed at GF in October 1999, I was sitting on our patio facing the marina around 9:00pm. I thought I heard the train whistle. I thought that was strange because MK closed at 7:00pm. About 10:30, I heard fireworks. I ran outside the building (we were on the first floor near the building entrance) and sure enough there were fireworks. I later found out it was an after hours private party.

Karen,
According to the calendar I made for our trip, Wishes is scheduled for 9:30 on the 21st. I do not have anything written down for the 22nd or 23rd. The next note I have is for 9:30 on the 25th. (We'll be there for that one! :teeth: ) You can double check on the calendar at DisneyWorld.com. Hopefully you'll be lucky like DebbieB & be able to see the fireworks even on the nights that are not on the calendar.
Have a wonderful honeymoon! Blessings for your marriage.

There are also going to be fireworks for the McDonald's Buy out as well as the Grad Nights. The McDonald's fireworks are at 10:30 and will have perimeters (Completely encompassing the park...not just above the castle) and the Grad Night fireworks are usually between 10:30 and midnight. So if you are wanting to watch them from the hotel you are still going to be able to, just not from in the park.

I think for the money WDW charges for tickets they shouldn't be able to close the parks for private parties.

Their making extra money when a lot of people will only be there for a few days and could possibly miss some of the best shows.

Doesn't seem fair to the general public especially if your paying all that money to stay on site. Just my own feelings.

Karemore,

As a previous poster mentioned, the Wishes fireworks will only be on 4-21 at 9:30. We are staying that week at the GF for our 20th anniversary with our daughter and requested a lagoon view for that reason. But if there are other fireworks shows on the other nights that will be great.:Pinkbounc

Congrats on your marriage :bride: :groom: You chose a great place to honeymoon. We did way back when there was only the Magic Kingdom and Epcot...boy, I feel old:rolleyes: Guess I need to get back to Disney!::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Aurora:

Read my above post about the fireworks on April 22... McDonald's is going all out for the buy out and the fireworks will be Wishes with the additional perimeters around the entire park (like they do for Not so Scary and Very Merry parties). If your plans will allow you to be at the hotel that night they are scheduled for 10:30pm, you could watch them from the resort :)

I understand your frustration on the buy out, but any and all buisness will allow you to rent out their facilites exclusivly for your functions, I understand where you are coming from but you have to remember it is a buisness. The other parks are not affected by the McDonald's buy out so you still have other options for that night...As for Grad night, that is every year and is a final party for the graduating seniors before they leave their friends. It is not only for Florida schools, the kids come from everywhere... You will also find Sea World and Universal throwing Grad Night parties... It is a nice gesture to the kids in my opinion (having participated in it myself when I graduated many years ago).

Thank you so much for the information about the fireworks and especially for the good wishes for my marriage and honeymoon!!

We leave NY in 17 days!!!

thanks.

Grad Nights are not a ticketed event that is open to anyone (like the Halloween parties or Night of Joy). They are school functions. The school that are participating sell the tickets to the kids and they come as a group... Tickets can not be purchased for this event if you are not a part of the partcipating schools...Sorry
