No Expiration - why not 10 days?

It seems to me, if you're going to fork over serious bucks, why not get the 10 day no expiration base only ticket?

It's 50%+ off the one day ticket price and you can use it in future years.

Is this a no-brainer or am I just missing something?

Thanks

We bought the 10 day no-expiration tickets because it seemed like a GREAT deal for us. Guess it just depends on whether or not you are able to pay that much $ at one time.

We also bought a 10 day PH no expiration. For 5 days it was $950 for a 10 day it was $1,250. I will get an AP for myself, so we can get a DDE.

I agree not everyone can afford to go with extra days, but I was glad we were. :flower:

It would be tying up money for a long time for those of us who don't have any plans to go in the future! If you knew you would be going back in a few years, it is the best deal.

A big one for us - will we track it for the two years between trips? If I can't lay my hands on the ticket for the next trip because I put them in that "safe place" I can't remember, I've wasted the no expiration dollars.

crisi makes a valid point. If you're the type to misplace things or throw them out accidentally, buying a 10-day MYW no-expiry could be like throwing money away. Me, I'm a packrat when it comes to my Disney stuff. I still have the PS card for our first breakfast in the castle back when it was called King Stephan's instead of Cinderella's Royal Table. I also have a couple of PHPs that I bought two years ago that are waiting to be used. I'll be buying 10-day MYW hoppers (no-expiry) when the opportunity presents itself.

since your names are now tied to your tickets, wouldn't cms be able to track your ticket information if you lost your actual paper ticket?

The tickets are actually tied to your fingers' biometrics. Your name really isn't associated with the pass other than the signature that you put on the back, which is not kept on file anywhere at WDW. Disney has no way of looking up the ticket info unless you have the serial numbers from the back.

You virtually can't "lose or waste non-expired dates" with the new system because tickets now have your name on them and in Disney's ticket system.....If you lose the tickets before you go back...just take id to guest services and they will re-issue.

We just upgraded our previously-purchased 5-day hoppers to the new 10-day, no expiry ones this weekend. The CM gave me a photocopy right then and there of the backs of each pass in case they get lost! I thought that was a nice "above and beyond" effort!

We know for sure we'll be going back several more times....it's our most favorite place to vacation....but not necessarily multiple trips within the next 365 days. So the 10-day made sense for us over the APs.

I was suprised when we used the new passes to go through the turnstyles and they needed the finger-scans....I guess I missed learning about that on the boards! On a slightly humerous note, we noticed AFTER we went through that DH had used the tix with my signature, and vice-versa. So now, the card with my siggy has his finger-scan associated with it! I'm not so sure we'll remember that by the time we go!

Well, we won't do that because of a few reasons. First, my dh doesn't like Disney so every time we go, he declares we're done. We went in '92, '97, '02, '04 so our avg is like every 4 yrs. That isn't all that often. Also, we go for at least 7 or 8 days each trip and go to the parks every day so 10 days would only leave us 2 or 3 days at the most anyway. Buying the non-expy is $100 so that is $500 add'l dollars upfront for a ticket that will only get us a few extra days at some point long in the future. We plan to buy the base ticket that expires if and when we return. We do have 5 pluses on previously used passes so don't need add'l perks on our tickets.

If you buy your ticket through another place like ticketmania and you lose your card (but have a copy of the card) can you go to disney guest services and get another one.

My dh doesn't like Disney either. Somehow or other I've talked him into a trip there every 18 months. This past trip he didn't set foot in the parks and it worked perfectly. I took one kid to the parks each day, he took the other kid to minigolf or Seaworld or a water park. Everyone was happy.

My youngest turns 6 this summer and is dolphin-crazy, so I feel a Discovery Cove trip is in the not-too-distant future (a year away, perhaps?)

I am actually wishing I had done just that. We just got back from WDW and I bought 6-day base MYW tickets. Now I am planning on going back next February and if I had bought the 10-day tickets I could have had my tickets for the next trip for a couple hundred more. Next time I am buying the 10-day no expiry so I can use them in the future.

As long as you have your complete ticket number from the back of the tickets, Guest Relations MAY be able to assist you with lost tickets. The name is not tracked - just there to help you identify which ticket belongs to which family member.

If I recall correctly, if all tickets are purchased at the same time they are somehow linked??? So if Mom uses Dad's ticket there shouldn't be an issue at the turnstyle. I imagine this must happen quite frequently.

I guess it all depends on how often you go, how many days you go, and if you have the funds to do it.

For us our first & last trip was back in 2002. Our next possible trip isn't until 2007. To me it is not worth putting out the extra cash now for a trip that is 5 or more years away.

They don't put the names on them in the computer system like AP's. You just sign the back by hand.

I would make photocopies and keep the copies in a couple places, like one at work and one at home.
