I have two one day, no expiration tickets from 2009. These tickets were issued to my sons who were 6 and 7 at the time. We are going down this year, and I would like to use the passes. My question is this-since my elder son just turned 10, and would have to buy a junior ticket, can I still use the child ticket issued to him back then?

There is no junior ticket. Just child or adult. But, yes, he can still use the ticket.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #9, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

A 10yo may not use a (completely) unused ticket designated for ages 3-9. The ticket would have to be traded in towards a age 10+ ticket ( for junior & adult) or given to another child (niece?) under 10yo.

(A partially used ticket may continue to be used by the person who started using it correctly, regardless of age. That person, if over 9, may or may not be required to at any time exchange an age 3-9 ticket for an age 10+ ticket with the same remaining admissions and options, at no charge.)

You can go to trade it in for a new ticket... done it in past... no problems....
you can also use the value of what that ticket cost to be used for a multi day ticket if your planning on using/going longer... they're very flexible
good luck

Disney will exchange a partially used child ticket for an adult ticket with the same entitlements and use history at no charge.

A MYW ticket that was first used more than 14 days in the past cannot be upgraded or modified in any way. If a child ticket was reissued as an adult ticket, it still has the history and had been used more than 14 days in the past and cannot get any days or options added.
