I looked at the park hours on the DIS for August and September and noted that the Electrical Parade is not scheduled after 08/24. Can someone tell me what happened? :confused3

We are coming for our first trip in October and my family really wanted to see it.

Thanks for any help.

Kate :)

In the past, Disney puts the Electrical Parade on hiatus for fall, then bring it back for the Holidays. It does seem a bit early for hiatus status. Maybe someone knows more?

wow, I just saw that ! So weird ! Im glad we made the reservations to wine country tratoria the night before or we would be missing it.

Thanks much for the information FunatDisney.

Since we are coming in the fall (October) I guess we will miss it. That makes me really sad. I hope we don't end up missing anything else. :sad2:

Everyone else is right, typically the ELP goes on hiatus after Labor Day until Christmas time.

Unfortunately, I have also heard that Fantasmic! will be down for a couple of months, starting mid-Sep. and you will miss that as well. I am pretty bummed about that myself, as that is my favorite and we are also going in Oct.

Yeah, I was surprised too that the Electrical Parade was stopping on the 24th but I guess their summer season officially ends then so that's why. I'm not sure why the summer season doesn't end after labor day. I was bummed too since my parents are going with us on August 26th and we wanted to see the electrical parade.

We made ressies at WCT too for 8/23. Maybe we'll see you there. We actually arrive the 23rd and were debating about going into the park that night or not since we won't get in til about 4pm. Since its the last night of ELP, we figure we'll just do some shows and get them out of the way.

OP, we usually go in the off season so pretty much figure that the ELP won't be running. We've only ever really seen it a couple of times and that's when we've gone in the summer.

Well you will be treated to the Halloween Decorations and the special Halloween fireworks show. I hope that will make up for it. When are you going? We will be there from the 28th to the 30th.

We're driving from the East Coast so we plan to stay for awhile and try to do it all. Not sure when we will be back since it is so far.

We arrive in CA 10/06 and leave 10/22. We're DVC so we're going to stay at GCV. For the weekend of 10/16 we stay in San Diego and go to Legoland and SD Wild Animal Park.

I'm trying to pick a beach to spend a day. I'm thinking that maybe Huntington Beach and renting bikes and then doing kayaks might be fun.

We also have a day planned for Universal and one for El Capitan Theatre.

We chose October so that we could do all of the Halloween activities. It's one of our favorites at WDW so we thought it would be great for DL too.

I can't believe it's less than 60 days now.

I wonder if they are going to be finishing the new dragon during this time?

I am also DVC member and will be staying at the VGC myself. Now a funny thing happens in So Cal. in Oct. We usually get hot winds from the desert and the temperature could go up as high as the 100's. A beach day will be nice, so bring your suits.
I have never been to Hunting Beach myself, I actually live in a beach city, but north of Disneyland more towards Santa Barbara.
Maybe there is a thread about Hunting Beach and what to do there.

I was shocked as well that the parade is not on for the month of September, I though they would have carried it through for the expo at least :confused3

The DEP always goes down in the fall for the last 4-5 years. It is really a "seasonal" parade which means Disney only offers it high season and some occasional weekends when DCA hours are longer into the evening.

What I meant though, is that with the expo on in September, which I am assuming Disney is going to get more people in the park at the time, that they would have at least extended for the expo. I know it use to run all year round at one time (or close to it), as I have video footage that I took in Feb. and April, but knew they had cut it back. Just thought there would be more happening there during the expo at least, that is why I booked my trip at this time, otherwise I would be there during summer months only.

OK got it. It does seem Disney offers DEP on certain weekends. Maybe they will change their mind on the expo weekend?

If you look on the Disneyland website, you see a "sizzle with summer nightastic" section that outlines a special Fantamic, The Electric Parade and special lighting for pixie hollow. All "special summer versions" of the shows are scheduled to end on the 23rd of August.

I think a lot of people attending the Expo are going to be unhappy with the lack of entertainment and amount of refurbs. Unfortunately, DLR scheduled their newest and biggest fan expo during a traditionally off-peak time. Bad show on Disney's part IMO.

I really hope so, that would be so awesome, I haven't seen it in a few years, and was so looking forward to it.

I agree, but it just means it will be less likely that people will want to attend future expos, unfortunately :confused3

As a veteran WDW fan, I am surprised and very disappointed by the lack of entertainment during our planned trip in October.

At this point it looks like of the Big 3 nighttime events, Fireworks, Fantasmic and DEP that only the fireworks will take place and those only on a couple of the nights we will be there. Of course there is no schedule for October yet, so I am just guessing about this based on our discussions and the current schedules. :sad2:
