No Electrical Parade on Schedule??

As a veteran WDW fan, I am surprised and very disappointed by the lack of entertainment during our planned trip in October.

At this point it looks like of the Big 3 nighttime events, Fireworks, Fantasmic and DEP that only the fireworks will take place and those only on a couple of the nights we will be there. Of course there is no schedule for October yet, so I am just guessing about this based on our discussions and the current schedules. :sad2:

Kate, your disappointment is understandable - especially from someone accustomed to WDW. Whenever anyone new wanders onto this forum I and others try to get them to understand the downsides of DLR off-seasons right away. Then they can make informed decisions about choosing dates for visiting. Off-season has advantages and many around here enjoy those advantages. But to get the most out of an off-season visit IMO you need to overlap weekends. Even then there is chance that a a major show like Fantasmic will be down. For the most part Fantasmic does not go down often and does play year round and in off-season every weekend.

This is a thread I wrote a couple years ago because I saw so many posts like yours. It gets a lot of mileage around here. I hope it helps you understand DLR better.

DLR is a great place. I hope your trip is wonderful. :goodvibes

Thanks HydroGuy.

I actually read your threads as part of my planning. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to write all of that information. It has been a huge help. :worship:

I thought that by making sure that we were at DL for two entire weekends in October that I would have it covered. I planned my schedule so that weekends were reserved for trying to see shows at the parks. I just assumed that the shows would at least happen on weekends (even alternate weekends). I just didn't expect not at all, especially considering Fantasmic was down earlier this year.

We are still looking forward to our first trip and we know that it will be magical. Just a little less so without Fantasmic.

I would have thought the same thing as you. Again, have a great trip!

OK got it. It does seem Disney offers DEP on certain weekends. Maybe they will change their mind on the expo weekend?

They would have to extend hours at DCA to do it. 8 pm isn't dark enough to enjoy DEP in Sept.

Don't count on it. It was very busy the first week of June this year and they still didn't show the big three.

If there is one thing I don't like about Disneyland is this. They should at least, the very least, show everything on the weekends.

Wow ok after reading this I am a little sad! I was expecting the electrical parade to not be going in Oct (16-21) however I thought we had the weekend to see fantasmic...

We are booking our dining reservations this weekend so maybe they will have some insight.

Oct schedule can not get here fast enough!

Back when the Halloween fireworks were announced about a month or so ago, there was a blurb somewhere that mentioned that there would be nightly fireworks, being that they were going to do the special Halloween show. Although, because the Oct schedule is not up yet, all things are always subject to change. :confused3
