I've called the last few days looking to book at couple of nights in December and all the DVC Resorts are sold out!! I was looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom but MS told me they have no availablities.

Is there something going on those first two weeks in December or is everyone going???

HELP!! I have a Contemporary reservation but now I'm concerned about crowds, I thought this is "quiet time"

From what I understand, the first week of December is a very popular time for DVC members to travel to Disney. The holiday decorations are up, weather is nice and most importantly the points are the lowest! What I have found from reading these boards is that a busy time for DVC may not necessarily coincide with Disney's traditionally busy seasons. Are you on a waitlist for what you need? I was on the waitlist for some dates over Thanksgiving (including Thanksgiving Day) and they all came through so the waitlist does work.

I hope you get what you need soon!

The first 2 weeks of December are very popular with DVC'ers, we go every year. It's Adventure Season, the lowest point time. The Christmas activities are in full swing. DVC annual member meetings are held. Weather is usually great (around 80, but there can be cold snaps). Great time to go but book early! :D

We're another family that usually only goes to WDW during the first 2 weeks of Dec for the same reasons DebbieB mentioned. While DVC may be full, the parks aren't - a WONDERFUL time to go.

We'll be there this year!

Hope you tried the waitlist. I called a month ago for a few days during that time and was told that all resorts were booked. I asked to be put on the automatic waitlist for a 1 bedroom at all resorts. Got my confirmation in the mail today for the BWV, my home resort. The waitlist really works! Good Luck!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

the Dis (this site) is having its second convention then - I also go every year the first or second week in Dec - it is great!!! I love it then the weather is generally wonderful (one year too cold). the parks, resorts, and even DD are decorated and having parties and special shows - CP, OL, MVMCP, etc - also some other web sites after having their conventions then - so yes it is always a busy time for the DVC resorts. (next year make your reservations at the 11 month - if you change your mind you can cancel).

Get on the daily wait list if MS will let you.

This will be our 5th year going the 1st or 2nd week of Dec. Same reasons....low points and even lower crowds. I will say the secret is getting out that the beginning of Dec is the time to go. We have seen the crowds increase with each year. The weather can be iffy then, we have worn shorts and then heavy sweatshirts all in the same week.
I call every January at the 11 month window and book at the BWV. I have yet to cancel because we weren't going. Already started Christmas shopping so I will be done, wrapped, etc before 12/7.

ditto for me! For years it has been our favorite time to go; it's festive and we can escape this cold Chicago weather. I also have started Christmas shopping. We can't wait, this will be our first trip as DVCers!

Definitely use the waitlist. We went the 2-3rd week in Dec last year (and loved it) and I know I didn't book any earlier than now. OKW had everything available so I took a studio - changed my mind and got a 1 Br a couple weeks later, and got a waitlist request for standard view 2 br at BWV about 4 months before we left. One of the 4 would have to come thru on a waitlist....good luck - it really is a beautiful time to go.

I called Monday at noon at got a 1BR at BCV. Taking the mom-in-law with us. Decided I'd rather use less points and get more room so I switched to OKW Mon eve. No Problem. BWV was out though.

I got on a waitlist Mon at 10 for a studio at any of the 4. I wanted BWV or BCV because of food and wine at EPCOT. When I called just afternoon for the December ressie, I just asked if anything came up and they booked me immediately in OKW. I dropped VWL waitlist hoping to get over to BWV or BCV but OKW will do :).

I just changed our December trip from a studio to a 1 bedroom. For the dates I was looking, 12/18-12/20 (3 nights), I had my pick of 1 bedrooms from BWV preferred, WLV, OKW and BCV. Probably will be an expensive trip for us as I chose BCV. From what I've read here we could be talking add on before the days are over.
