Nope, no dreams for us!!

We were there eleven nights & twelve days....we were in the parks or water parks or DTD every day & only saw two "dreams" presented!! One was the first person at Disney Quest win a pin off the CM's lanyard & the second was a girl at a CS restaurant in AK win a cupcake with blue icing!! That was it!! Dreams??? Hardly!

We did see lots of people during our stay with fast passes (which really werent' needed) or the special Mickey hats but never once did we see them actually awarded.

We did have fun though! Just please don't go thinking you're going to win something...you're probably not!

Oh man, no dreams at all?! Wow, that sucks. You mean you got to vacation with your family, take time off from work, stay in the happiest place on earth, and didn't get a dream fastpass? Life sucks doesn't it?

When we went in April, I didn't even know that it was the YOAMD nor did I care. We were in Disney with our kids, away from work, school, daily nuisances, and were extremely thankful. Had a great time and are looking forward to going back next April. And once again, I will not care about getting "dreams granted". :wizard:

Did you read my post? Did you read the last line? Where did you read I was complaining about this? I was merely suggesting to those "hoping", "wanting" or "expecting" a "dream" that they may want to push that thought aside & concentrate on having a fun time (like we did) anyway!

You did not need to be rude or sarcastic towards me.

Being rude seems to be the norm on the boards these days.

We didnt get any dreams or see any awarded either but like you had a great time. Hope to go back soon but not sure when. Glad you had a good trip.

If you want to increase your chances of winning something (dream lanyards with pins, dream ears, or fast passes) get to the parks early; between 9:00AM and 1:00PM and ride as many attractions as you can.

Not many YOMD prizes are handed out after that time.

Yup, ADP, I think you're right about being there early. Often we would get to a park at 10 & if the park had already been open for an hour, we would see people wearing the fast passes or hats already. I do think they hand out stuff early in the day.

I wish that worked for us we were at the parks for 7 days before rope drop every day and nothing. But as I said before we had a great time. Cant wait to go back.

No dreams for us either, but I did see the dream team handing out fast passes to the people about 2 minutes behind us on a ride...I was excited just to see the dream team and know they really do exist. :rotfl2:

One more chance in late 2008 (and I think I am going to start mailing postcards too).

We had lots of health issues during our trip so we didn't get to the parks first thing in the a.m. and we didn't see any dreams awarded either, but we did observe people with the fastpasses and some of the special YOMD ears. Personally we did receive a free side of cheese for our hot pretzel ;)

The most exciting thing for us each day was the parade and seeing the people who won the castle stay and also the grand marshalls of the parade. I swear, I had a lump in my throat for those people, and I didn't even know them!! Like the others said, don't count on winning anything, but even if you don't, it is still the most magical place to be :goodvibes

I agree! We've been to the parks every day since Sunday (3 days so far) and have seen very little of the Dream Team, and not much evidence of the promotion. We've seen a few people with lanyards, but nothing like it was a year ago. In fact, it's been so non-existent, we've sort of forgotten it's happening. LOL.

That's funny that you mention that forgetting all about it. We were on the Disney bus from MK and DH and I were chatting about our dream cheese ;) , and a couple from Chicago said, "What do you mean"? We mentioned the YOMD, and they had no idea what we were talking about! :)

Personally, I think Disney has kind of made a marketing error for exactly this reason. People go to the parks expecting to see all kinds of Dreams happening or maybe win something themselves.. and really the big 'win' is that you're there at all. The parks are so huge that dreams could be granted all around you and you still might not see evidence of it happening during a 14 day trip even.

It's unfortunate marketing in my opinion.

I would remind everyone to please be considerate and polite to other posters.

Thanks,

Knox

I wish we had an opportunity to go back again within the next year to see if things are a little different towards the end of the YOMD program, but not going to happen for us unfortunately. :sad1:

All in all, just seeing the look on my DD faces during the whole thing was a dream in itself!

This marketting campaign is to keep people coming back to the parks, not to get them in. They already have capacity in their resorts year-round so the goal right now is to keep the income flowing. Most of the guests are John Q. Public who don't fanboy on forums like this, so for them to receive a prize it's huge.

Just a little update on our experiences...

We're on day 4 of our trip - visited Epcot today. We were there at the rope drop and my DH, son & daughter went to Test Track and my other son & I went to the Land to get fast passes for Soarin'. As we filed into the building with the rest of the people headed to Soarin', there was the usual clapping and fanfare at the bottom of the steps. There were a few Dream Team members there as well, and every now and then, one of the CMs would chant see the Dream Team, go to the boat ride. Nearly every person in the crowd passed right by and went to Soarin'. :rotfl: My son & I went on to Living With the Land, and were on the first boat of the day... when we got off the boat, the Dream Team was there with fastpasses for everyone! :cool1:

About an hour later, my two sons were in the game area of Misson:Space and were awarded the Dream pin lanyards. :cool1:

My middle son won both prizes, so he thought it was the coolest. day. ever. :)

It was a very good Disney day. My daughter & middle son were also awarded dream certificates at the American pavilion.

We were there for 10 nights/11 days and never even saw the DreamTeam.
