We did not win any dreams during our 10 night stay in Disney. We just lived one of my worst nightmares!! No exaggeration we were literally entering Walt Disney world when my husbands cell phone rang. I could tell by the look on his face and the responses he was giving that it was bad! REAL BAD! He had to pull over and get out. I had started to put two and two together by what I had heard on my end and realized that he had just lost his job! A really big contract fell through at his company and they were laying hundreds off. His boss felt sick about having to call us on vacation but the upper management insisted. We had already been gone a week and staying with family so they felt we needed to be notified. I was still red from crying when the CM at the boardwalk opened our car door. I was just in shock. Now we did calm down and had a good time. Although not as good as we would of had if my husband had a job to come home to. But Disney can sure help you forget about your troubles. (for a while) As for the dreams.... we came close twice in animal Kingdom. We were the last people to get on the train to Rafiki's planet watch and all the people on the train behind us won dream fastpasses. Then on the safari the truck right behind us all won Mouse ears. It was fun seeing all the people laughing and putting on thier ears. I actually saw a shooting star from our balcony at BWI. Now you guys all know what I wished for!!!! And if there is ever a place for wishes to come true it just has to be in Disney!! Everyone please send us some Disney Magic so that my DH gets a new job soon!!:wizard:

I am so sorry to hear that your husband was laid off, but especially while on vacation with his family. That is absolutely terrible. Prayers and hugs for you all that he finds work very quicky.

PS - Those are some pretty heartless people to call him while he is on vacation to tell him that. The very least they could have done is called him the day of or the day after his arrival home.

Haven't had that happen at WDW, but I completely understand how you feel when the world's yanked out from under you without warning. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Glad you Enjoyed the Magic, & wishing more Magic upon you pixiedust:

Thanks so much for the prayers and hugs!! We will take all we can get. I said the same thing to my husband about them waiting until we returned. We planned and saved all year for this trip and to have it start off like that with our two boys in the back of the car witnessing it all was just terrible. I think the suits in upper management sometimes forget what it's like to be the struggling little guy. I am sure there was money involved in the decision to call and tell him. I figure that he was still being paid and considered an employee until they notified him??

Ugh, that's terrible! I'm sorry you had to go through such horrible timing, on top of a loss of job.

Everything will be ok, things have a tendency to work out!!!!

The shooting star is a sign!!!!:wizard:

ma'am, so sorry for your dh to have lost his job, i agree with what the others are saying, that was really bad timing on his job's part.
the other thing i can say, your husband can look ast this as an oppurtunity, there is always something better around the corner, especially for those who can work for it. :thumbsup2
lots of pixie dust to you!!!!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: :tinker:

We went through something similar this past year. My husband sent out many resumes and went on interviews. He kept praying that the right job would find him. Our prayers were answered when someone called him about a job. He is still in a very stressful career, but we figure since God lead us to this job it must be the right place for him to be.

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way! :wizard: I'm sure your husband will find something soon, and perhaps it will be something even better than what he had! God has a way of working things out that way when we put our troubles in his hands.

I think that shooting star was him winking at you, assuring you that all would be all right! :goodvibes

Sending Pixie Dust your way! :wizard: Things happen for a reason - I'm sure something great is about to happen!!!

I can 100% say I know how you feel. however we're just a bit opposite as we are just getting ready to leave for our Disney Vacation in October and my Dad will be laid off his job on Sept 1, I just feel sick!!
Prayer's for all families in this situation !!!!! Keep your chin up folks ....good thing comes to those who need it!!!!

I am very sorry about this. I will pray for you and your families and send you some pixie dust as well. I hope all works out for the best.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you on the DIS who have such big hearts and kind words. I have read many threads from people going through terrible things.....many a lot worse than my situation. Everyone here always has nothing by concern and care for all those people, myself included. I came to the DIS for my love of Disney but I stay for my love of the DIS family!!! Thank you all for your well wishes.

So sorry about your husband's job. No time is a good time for this to happen, but the timing was really bad!!! I hope he finds something new soon, that he really loves!!! :)

That is awful!! I'm soo sorry to hear about your husband's job. I'm a believer in everything happens for a reason, so who knows, maybe the next job will be somthing he loves and for better pay!! Hey, you can dream!! I've been there. My dh lost his job a few days after coming home from vacation (first time to WDW) a couple of months ago...what a way to kill a disney buzz! Hope things turn around soon :flower3:
Sending pixie dust your way!!

I have to share my story with you to give you hope:

My dh is working in retail, for a decent pay, and felt he could not leave his job because his first priority is to take care of his family. He was miserable, I mean hating going to work, sounding down all the time, and losing control of his blood pressure. He snapped at the dog alot (that he begged me to get- I am so not a dog lover). He hates managing people.

My DS is 5 and they have 1/2 day kindergarten, and Dh and I did not want him going to daycare, and I managed to find a job where I could work from home around my DS. We are pinching pennies big time. I couldn't help out much to make up a paycut, so he stayed and stayed.

One day he sounded so miserable, I told him he should look into studying to do something, go back to college and actually get a degree, whatever, but for the next year he has to be miserable, at least work toward something.

He was interested in learning more about doing Real Estate Apprasals on the side, to earn extra money to save to maybe compensate for a paycut earlier than a year. His best friend has alot of experience in the field and owns a business. That friend has wanted to hire my DH for years, but usually it was sales and we are not big risk takers. So he called and talked to that friend about Appraisals on the side, and his friend said "You don't want to do that. How much do you make?" Dh told him and he referred DH to his HR dept for an interview doing analytical stuff, which my DH loves to do.

Long and short, DH starts his new job with a 5000.00 a year raise in Sept!

When one door closes another opens! I hope some of the pixie dust that got on my DH (who I assure you, was REALLY stuck) rubs off on your DH! :grouphug:

Microcell...Thanks for sharing your story. I am trying to keep a good atitude and believe a postive will come from a negative! My husband is acutally less worried then me. He is pretty confident something will come up. I hope he is right. I am glad things worked out so well for your husband and family.:thumbsup2
