No Disney this year!

....to sell on eBay! Wooooooo!!

Now I can finally fund my upgrade to Yacht Club so I don't have to sneak into Stormalong Bay ;).
That'll be wise since you will have all of this free time that FP+ will provide. Three rides, lunch and off to the pool! :thumbsup2

Except using that same logic this board would have about 2/3 less threads (which may be a good thing, less of a time muncher). I don't need to know about other people's ADR choices, or their touring plan, or a million other subjects that aren't relevant to other people (except that we apparently all like to comment on things that don't directly affect us).

I think the only "objection" I have to this thread is that OP posted almost word for word the same post a few weeks ago. Venting and maybe even secretly hoping that someone will talk you out of leaving....well, that's one of those posts that happen often, not fun to read someone voicing the things maybe I don't want to think about....but to repeat it hoping for either different responses (more sympathetic perhaps) or worse, hoping to incite anger like a troll would do, well, that personally annoys me.

What other people eat, their touring plans, their hotel choices are all absolutely relevant to a potential trip. What's good on this particular menu? Are the beds in ASSp really that bad? Is there a sort of 'best practices' way to do Adventureland? All of this is relevant information to someone planning a vacation. I personally might not care about it, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't happily exist in a printed guidebook. I personally don't see any issue with any of that.

But vacations of any kind of a privilege, not a right. This attitude that somehow Disney corporate is taking away the rights of the people by changing their fast pass policy makes me crazy.

Then you probably will want to unsubscribe from this thread.

Or go read the Disney Parks Blog, where butterflies and rainbows abound. I would suggest the WDW Facebook page but apparently they get slammed on there, too!:rotfl:

It is good to get all perspectives. As always respect for all viewpoints :goodvibes

I don't recall thr op talking about "rights". Pretty sure the OP was discussing that he sees less value in a wdw vacation with increasing costs and yet getting less for that money. All paying customers have the "right" to make that value judgement for themselves. It doesn't make them entitled :confused3

Do you honestly expect people to not have strong feelings to have the value of what they spend their money on significantly diminished?

If you are used to spending $20 on a steak at your favorite restaurant, and the next time you went in the portion was half the size, are you going to not have an opinion about it?

It's not about rights. It's about value for the money spent. Which is why I totally get where the OP is coming from.

I get that you don't feel the same way. And that's fine too. We all value different things at Disney.

Well, sure. I would go somewhere that more closely aligns with my values and my budget, but I'd do it with a little bit of dignity. I wouldn't stand outside the restaurant and yell at the steak. I am not entitled to that particular steak. I am entitled to getting $20 worth of food. If I can get more food elsewhere, I'm definitely going to go elsewhere. But being personally offended that the restaurant is changing its policy doesn't really enter into it.

Would you be offended if you had a trip booked and paid for, complete with nonrefundable flights purchased? That has been the case for many over the course of the past year.

I'm just happy I found another steakhouse in the chain that has not yet converted to the smaller portions. I'll have to fly to Anaheim to get there, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Oh that's nice. People posting that they cancelled their trips now have no dignity.

I'm pretty sure when I was at Disney there was nobody outside the gates with picket signs "yelling at the steak". Posting on a message board is not losing your dignity.

Reposting the same thread, repeatedly, to tell people that you're not going back, is possibly a wee bit undignified. :lmao:

It's the message board version of, "I'm taking my ball and going home!"

Next week: "Did anyone hear me? I'm going home!"

Next month: "Guess what! I'm not playing with you any more!"

I've seen people posting here about their bathroom habits and other fairly private issues LOL, posting that you aren't going to Disney anymore hardly ranks on the scale of undignified message board acts to me.

I am right there with ya. I don't see what the big deal is about it. It's a free message board. Discuss what you want.

Personally I find the posters that repeatedly complain about the people complaining much more offensive. And I am not talking about you. :goodvibes

This amazes me. The OP explained why they are not going and stated that they do not feel they will get their monies worth out of going. Then people either agree or defend WDW. The op and others have rightfully stated that the return on dollar spent has diminished over time. Somehow people feel the need to defend Disney, or state that that person is wrong without any valid counterpoint other than well they are still packing in the crowds so they don't need you anyway. Instead of responding with why they think the value is still there from an opposing point of view.

I agree the value for dollar spent has greatly diminished (I have been going regularly since 1993) and every change seems to be at the expense of customer experience (excluding FP- which is now gone). But through my last trip I still felt like I received enough entertainment and fun for what I paid for

To be fair I was totally against FP- when they first announced it, I was thankfully proven wrong. I am now not a fan of what I know about FP+, but am withholding judgment until I use it. But if it diminishes my experience to a large degree I will look at spending more vacation time elsewhere. That is not a threat to Disney I know they will never feel it if I stop going. But I am not going to spend my money at a place where I don't think it is worth it.

I have made the analogy before; GM did not fail over night or over one bad decision. They failed over a period of about 40 years by make one bad yet minor decision after another, losing one customer at a time. They might not have felt the loss of each customer, but it eventually added up. (Oversimplified but I think it makes my point)

A super big high five for you. This is so wonderfully spot-on.
