No Discounts on the "Special" Cruises

>>they all knew that the ship would be sold out within hours of the cruises being offered<<

Which didn't happen. Go to the DCL website NOW - there is PLENTY of space available. Why? JUST LOOK AT THE PRICES.

When DCL management comes down from the sky it is currenlty flying around, the discounts will come back.

My TA's upper management at AAA Headquarters is looking into this for us. Hopefully that will help. You know, there can't be that many of us that is in this situation. To keep us happy you would think they would just absorb the money. We still would be paying much more than other cruise lines.

Not entirely true. We get a substantial discount for the space available program, but there are also smaller discounts for the guarenteed space program which will apply if any room is available.

So are you saying that they are offering the guarenteed space available program for the Repo cruise, as we were told we couldn't get a discount when I called.

Well, I dunno what Disney's definition of discount is, but I booked my repositioning at 10:20am pst on May 5 and am paying more than $2k LESS than what they have those same catagories offered for right now. So, if that ain't a discount, I dunno what is.
I was told by my DU agent that those who booked around the same time I did got a kind of "early bird" booking. I do know that the system automatially upped the price less than every hour on that day and it seems to have just kept rising. Anyway...They can call it what they want, I feel I got a discount and am paying a very VERY good price for my cruise.

We were referring to "CM discounts", not general discounts. Obviously we have only been offered the "sailaway options" for our 4 cruises - which gives us the larger discount, but at very short notice. We pay the full amount on booking, and never had it cancelled. Neither have we had any restrictions on board, so we have been lucky. These discounts are not an option for the repositioning cruises: mores the pity! Thanks for the info Tigfanjeff: Nat :Pinkbounc

other than the "early booking savings" it appears DCL isn't offering much of anything in the way of discounts for the "special" summer 2005 cruises ... no group discounts, TAs can't cruise at discounted prices (other than early booking), CMs appear to not be able to get discounts (at least at this momemt) for the summerm 2005 bookings (as summer 2005 gets closer and if the cruises aren't selling out, that might change).

I just got off the phone with Constance at customer service. SHE claims that none of us were denied the onboard booking perks that were promised by Donna. When I told her that many of us in an on-line community were in the same boat, that it was hit-or-miss is the discounts were allowed, she said that we must have "misunderstood" what we had been told. More than a hundred bookings for the west/east 14-day were returned on Monday for non-payment of deposit. So, I said, now there is room to book me at the lowest rate available initially, not the sky-high tiered price, right? Sure she said.......and proceeded to tell me that from the
VERY GET GO, on the very first phone call from agent or individual, they were pricing in the tier 5 level. In other words, they had no intention of ever offering anyone the published rates. For example, a cat. 10 was published on the web site with a range of $1299-2299.........but if what she said is true, not one person was given that lowest rate. She said they are allowed to publish a range.......but that sounds suspiciously like the old auto dealer bait and switch. They would advertise a low, low price on a car, and when people were coming in they were told sorry, that car was already sold, but come look at these others that are only a LITTLE bit more expensive. Most of the time the advertised car was never available in the beginning, and the laws came down hard to end this practice. Why should DCL be able to advertise prices that they never had any intention of offering.

Disgusting, disgusing, disgusting.

According to our TA we got in at the Tier 1 level ... so not sure if the CM was accurate in saying EVERYONE started off immediately at the Tier 5 level at 1pm EDT on May 5th.
