No discounts for villa?

Just got off the phone with Disney Reservations as I had to change the number of people on my October reservation. So I asked if there was maybe a AAA discount that I did not know about. Her response was it was too late to apply anything if there was because I had made the package reservation in Feb and it is now too late to switch to a AAA person. Not sure what that meant! Also she said that Wilderness Lodge Villas are never discounted because there are not a lot of them and they fill up fast. Just wanted to touch base with everyone to see if this was really true. I was hoping that maybe something would be coming out this summer in the form of a discount for my Oct dates so if what she said was true there is no point in my checking anymore or wishing for something that will never happen. Thanks

Disney releases discounts to fill rooms and maybe sometimes VWL aren't discounted as not every resort is offered for every promo, but I wouldn't say they never are. With that said, the current room discount that is being offered for stays 8/16-10/3 shows the VWL having a 20% discount:

I can't answer about AAA as we've never booked with that discount, but I would definitely check if/when a new promo comes out for the rest of the year as you never know what resorts will be included and what the discount will be. Good luck.

If you have a package you can only apply the AAA discount if you book through their office. That's probably what she meant.

To expand on this...if you book your own package, you can transfer it to a TA (including one associated with AAA) but it has to be within 30 days of booking. So, since you booked in February, you would have had to transfer it to a AAA agent no later than a date in March. This is probably what she was referring to by saying it's "too late" to switch to AAA.

As for VWL discounts in October...I wouldn't count on it. October is one of the most popular DVC months, so very few rooms will be available for cash reservations. The fact you got one at all is a great stroke of luck. With such limited availability, I wouldn't expect there to be any discounts available, but you never know.

While I'd never say never, discounts on VWL are very hard to come buy. Low inventory plus high demand equals no discounts! We're DVC and AP holders & have yet to get an AP discount on VWL for dates we wanted, or book a room for more than 2 nights there with points.
