Just wondering i've seen some mentioning of stroller theft. I was wondering if that's really happening at WDW now that rentals are so high or a few isolated incidents that actually happened. Not someone knew someone who heard some family had theirs taken.

We never take what i'd consider a cheapy we usually take our Mac Quests, Peg Pliko or Peg Aria double occasionally to park while we do rides and never had a problem. We've seen higher end strollers parked but never hung around to see if anyone was missing it. However we have 2 strollers that were $1400 each after all the bells and whistles and have never parked them while there just to be safe but i'm wondering does it matter, would anyone think to take them?

I've read on these boards that it does happen. It's never happen to me (thank goodness). MOst people try to add a little something to their stroller to have them stand out. I don't think people steal them so much as they might accidently take the wrong one and not realize for a while.

i would think the occorunce of stollen strollers is quite low. im willing to bet that most people who think their stroller were stollen were actually victims of the rearrangers.when my brother worked as a cm he said that there were strollers left most every night.
so i would think writing your resort on the carriage would help a lot if its stollen.

Just out of curiousity - what strollers do you have that cost $1400?

I know a family that had a Quad stroller that was pricey but I don't think it cost them that much.

If I did have something that valuable I wouldn't take it to WDW.

As my hubby would say, it better do more for me at that price! .... yah my dishes, laundry, mow the lawn....hehe

seriously, what stroller costs that much?

Surely that is a typo - I have been searching online and the most expensive strollers I see are the Bugaboo and the Orbit. Both of these are aboutr $900 each. I have seen several of the Bugaboo strollers at WDW but the only Orbit I have ever seen was at Toys R Us in Alexandria, VA last week.

I guess if you had one of these with a Joovy Caboose attached for an older child you are close to the $1100 range. :confused3

a $900 has expensive accessories im sure. or maybe add shipping too. i can see it adding up quite a bit.

i do think stroller stealing happens but i actually think the high end strollers may in fact be less likely to be stolen. just like with cars, its the average cars that are stolen the most as they just blend in.

So at $1400, I could have gotten 100 $13.99 strollers at Walmart...that's how much I paid for my DD's umbrella stroller, so if someone wants to steal it...? be my guest! lol!

The boys each have an expensive stroller the baby has the Orbit travel system, which included the infant carrier and stroller chasis, but by the time you add the bassinet & rocker, toddler stroller seat, addtional car seat base and toddler carseat it added up but it was proven itself a wonder. So it's a whole system but you can't be without the chasis if it 'walked away'.

Our 3 year old has a Bugaboo Chameleon but we got multiple tailored fabrics to change the colors, sun shades to coordinate with the colors, parasol, cold weather boot (which we actually had to use for 3 days in WDW on a December trip).

It doesn't take long and it adds up. we've never parked either of those strollers but i have seem other Bugs & Burberry Macs ($600 umbrella stroller) parked outside rides and wondered if it mattered or if someone would actaully think to take them. I got them for use during long shopping excursions, our EPCOT days wondering the F & WF where we move at a leasurily pace spend all our time outside or in resturants and we've always been allowed to take them in.

From what I've heard it's usually just a case of someone mistaking another "look alike" stroller for their own. Otherwise it's been someone who didn't put their stroller in the appropriate stroller parking and a CM moved it, causing the person to think it was stolen. I made a laminated 8 x 12 sign with our last name and cell number and hung it off the back of the stroller with zipties. Never had any problems!! It think if you mark it in someway you will be fine.

As for the pricey stroller, I really think people need to MYOB! The OP didn't ask if you thought he/she should have that stroller, he/she was asking about stroller theft. Don't see the need for all the neg. comments about it. It's just RUDE!

everyone was just surprised that there was a stroller out there that cost that much, and rightfully so because the stroller itself didnt cost that it was the entire line that cost that much. the question makes perfect sense as most of us are moms and know how much things cost. but now that its cleared up we get it.

I only asked out of curiousity - I had no clue strollers could cost that much these days and I used to own a children's consignment store years ago so I used to keep up with the trends. Quite a bit has changed since then! I still always notice strollers and kid's clothes at WDW - old habits die hard I suppose. LOL

Do you like the Orbit or Bugaboo better? The Orbit looked interesting when we saw the couple with it at Toys R Us.

Our stroller was either borrowed or was the victim of mistaken identity. We searched the entire stroller parking lot area where it was left and it was not there, but it did turn up in lost and found a couple of days later.

I have seen similar threads to this where several people have said their strollers were taken and never recovered, but I don't think it happens often, and it seems like more often there were things in the stroller (shopping bags, cameras, etc.) that may have been the real target.

It was our cheapo $15 umbrella stroller that was borrowed in 2005. We took our Mac Quest earlier this year and it will go with us again in October so DD can recline in style.:cool2:

The Bugaboo is really nice and purchased for my oldest DS so he could be fully supported while napping in it rather than have his legs hang off the end of the other strollers we had. It's a great push and overall a good stroller. The Orbit is better tho, everyone whose pushed both of ours agrees the Bug pushes really smooth and nice but the Orbit is nearly effortless no matter how big the load. The infant carseat is by far heavier than anyother i've had but it feels solid and practically wraps the baby for protection. Their customer service can't be beat. We popped a tire at EPCOT last October running over someone's backless pin and my husband broke the pump trying to use it inappropriately and they replaced all the parts for free and the stroller came with extra tubes anyway. We also tore the rubber hand grips, replaced free, the hood on the infant carrier my 3 year old colored on at a resturant, replaced for free. I know they will replace the carrier and base for free if it's in a car accident too. I know that anyone who had purchased one of hte orginal years' strollers and then bought the toddler carseat had to get new bases due to some difference and they sent new bases to replace them just for the purchase of hte toddler seat. They are AWSOME, bug makes you pay for every part.

You think $900 is over the top, here is a $3,000 stroller.

Yeah i think that would definitely reach my DH's threshold. Our 'Stroller Lot' is full and i think if you can't fold it into a car trunk it wouldn't be very pratical.

We did see a Stokke Explory at WDW last September. But the Dad was pushing it around the Living Seas so I'm not sure if they ever actually left it sitting alone while on a ride or not. I don't think I could just leave it...would stress me out too much! LOL

I am stressing about someone taking off with my Baby Jogger City Mini that we bought just for our next trip. I already have 10+ strollers but JUST HAD to have a new one for WDW. LOL But I have to say that we have never had any problems with our Peg P3's that went the last 2 years or any strollers from when my oldest was younger.

For me though, I think I would be more afraid of bring something too different looking only because it may catch someone's eye. For that reason, I would never bring my Quinny Zapp although I love the push on it but have seen others at WDW. I'm too much of a worry wart! :lmao:

If you could afford a $1400 stroller, what difference does it make if it gets stollen, just go out and buy another one.

I'd agree with this. We spent a LONG time looking for our stroller in AK one day. CMs kept saying "it's probably over there" but it never was -- and we got into a big loop! It had been the victim of an overcrowded stroller parking lot and had been moved to an annex of an annex of an annex.

I was beginning to think it was stolen, although it was a cheap umbrella stroller, so I couldn't imagine anyone would pick mine to steal. If I'd had an expensive stroller (and had been worried about theft), I would have probably given it up as stolen much earlier than when we found it. I just kept thinking "it's *got* to be here somewhere."
