 ok , so I decided to squeeze in a trip between trips , what's a mousejunkie to do :confused3 , I decided that if I could get my kids and I there for a few days on their march break , on a budget (my daughter and I have annual passes , so only DS needs a park pass) , we will stay at a value as much as I will miss renting from DVC :snooty: , at least we will be at Disney .
For the first time ever , we are not doing a DDP of any kind , hoping to actually save $ by sharing big quick service meals , I am asking all DISer's to help us with any suggestions you may have for budget dinning while at Disney , I am thinking I can live off pretzels , cupcakes and floats for 5 days , but we may want to fit in an actual meal :lmao:

Sharing QS and TS meals is a good way to save, and usually there is more than enough food there to go around. Bring breakfast with you from home! Pack granola bars and other non-perishables that you can eat in the room before you head out for the day. Try TS for lunch instead of dinner. You will save lots of money on the lunch entrees. Also, don't equate TS to better food automatically. Especially in Epcot, many of the TS locations serve practically the same food as the QS locations.

We are also not doing DP this year as we are staying offsite for the first time. We also plan to share QS and even some TS meals. We figure one QS meal at a lot of places and a kids meal will be enough for the 3 of us to share. We have a DD that will be almost 2 when we go. At TS (non-buffet/family style) we have discussed getting one entree and maybe an app. and dessert (and probbaly a kids meal) and splitting it.

Some of our favorite QS places are:

AK: Flame Tree BBQ- last year DH and split a combo here (we got an extra drink and one extra side). It was plenty for us.
Epcot: We love Norway QS- the sandwiches are huge and so good. Sunshine Seasons is also very good and gives huge portions.
DHS: There isn't really a great option here. We usually eat at Starring Rolls or Backlot Express. If you were to go to Sci-Fi or Prime Time, you could split a meal and the prices at lunch aren't too bad (as Disney prices go).
MK: Cosmic Rays gives huge portions so you will probably be able to split a meal there.

We share food a lot a disney.

At Flame Tre in AK you can get a half of a chicken and a side or two. That was enough for the three of us to share. We did get some onion rings, too. They weren't necessary, but they were incredibly delicious.

The taco salad at Pecos Bill's is big enough to share.

You could also save by bringing muffins for breakfast in your room and ordering from the CS kids menus.

Enjoy,

:)

a lot of money by doing TS lunch instead of dinner...especially the non character buffets. We make late lunch ressies so at most we need in the evening is a light snack like ice cream or a citrus swirl. We go some trips with no table service at all just the counter service. This eliminates having to "be somewhere' at a particular time. We stay in the DVC villas and have breakfast most days in the villa with an occasional Trails End Beffeteria ($13.99) for breakfast. Carrying snacks like jerky, granola bars, packets of nuts etc staves off the hunger in between meals.
