No curtains in any rental villas??

We like to sleep in on vacation. Which means we need light blocking curtains on our bedroom windows.

So far, I have reviewed over 100 photos of bedrooms in rental villas and condos and I don't see a SINGLE place with real closeable, thick curtains! Every place seems to have just those cheap plastic shades, and I know from experience those things glow like light fixtures when the sun is up.

Has anyone stayed some where or is an owner of a place with real curtains? I'd love to hear about it.

TIA,

Nope - I don't think any (or very many) exist! We've stayed in about a dozen different places over the years and this is a flaw in every single one. Our last trip when we knew we wanted to sleep in a bit, we took a roll of aluminum foil and a roll of tape and covered the windows in our bedroom. Very classy, for sure! :rotfl2: But it did the trick and kept out the light. :thumbsup2 Only took a few minutes to put up, and a shorter few minutes to remove and throw in the trash before we left.

We've also been known to try to hang a towel or blanket over the curtain rod if there is one (usually with just a decorative topper). But that's not very effective. We're at the parks for park opening, so we're usually waking before it's light anyway, so it's not enough to keep us from renting these places, but it is a shortcoming as far as I'm concerned.

I felt the same way when we were looking at places. Many people don't have curtains because they are an added expense and can be difficult to keep clean and dust free. The villa that we have rented for our upcoming November trip does have very nice curtains that you can close to darken the room.

We are staying in a higher end home however.

Here's the owner's website, they have 4 properties to choose from, maybe one of them will work for you.

I think it's because a lot of homeowners don't do the decorating themselves and the decorating companies don't include them. Our homes have curtains, but we didn't use one of the "prefab" furniture package stores, like many do.

At Dreams Villas of Orlando every bedroom in every Villa they represent has mini-blinds and room darkening curtains that can be pulled closed fully to block out all light.

The current pictures on their website doesn't show this as they were taken before the curtains were added - but you have my personal guarantee that they have curtains and blinds in every bedroom.

Don't forget - they are a sponsor of the DIS Boards. In addition to being beautifully appointed Villas they are minutes from Disney in Kissimmee and offer a great many ammenties. One of which is they will make your Disney Advanced Dining Reservations for you!!

Coming with small ones? They offer a free crib and high chair for you to use.
