Many of the fellow cruisers on the 22/6 cruise have already received thir cruise documents. We haven't and have heard nothing from either Disney or our TA about them. We have asked our TA but this is their first Disney cruise booking and so they just said they don't know hat to expect. Does anybody know what happens if your documents don't arrive before you set off on your holiday?

You can call DCL directly and they can tell you when and where they were mailed to. I felt the same way when I saw other cruisers were receiving their docs before me. My mom got hers a week before me. And she had no idea what it was. She never told me she got her docs. I happened to visit her and she showed me and I'm telling her "mom, these are your docs, your baggage tags", etc. Where were mine? Try calling DCL at (800) 951-3532. I'm sure you will get them soon. :wizard: If it's 5 days before your departure, I would worry then :) Have you done the online check in?

Call DCL. M=But most important is to complete the on-line check in and print out the document to bring with. The only thing you will be missing is the luggage tags. You will need to grab your bags and take them with you to your transportation to the port. They will have extra tags both at the Air port and at the Port. So no major issue. Your documents will most likely arrive in time.

All of the above is correct. My DD got her docs a week before I did--same TA, etc.

And as above, the only thing in the docs that you really need is the luggage tag. Even those are available at MCO (if flying...don't even need to get them, just go to the Welcome Center with your luggage claim checks from the airline and they will take care of it for you), at WDW from the resort bellmen, or at the terminal from the porters if you are driving or using private transportation.

Stupid question--why use a TA who has never booked DCL before?

Hi kcashner...since I see you have tens of thousands of posts, I'm guessing you are a Disney expert! We are going on our first Disney cruise in July and I am hoping to book our second while onboard. I have read on this board about naming a TA when booking onboard. Would love for your recommendation....are you allowed to do that on this list?! I am thinking Dreams Unlimited since they are the ones that seem to sponsor this list and from everything I've read, they sound great!

Thanks for your input!
btw, when I booked this first cruise, I used Vacations to Go only because after checking out a few (CruisesOnly and Small World Vacations) they gave me a better OBC so I went with them. No complaints and they were helpful. Honestly, I haven't really needed them since I booked and have had all questions answered either on this board or by calling DCL directly!

Thanks so much!

Sorry, I am not allowed to recommend my TA on the boards. It violates board policy.

Yes, if you name a TA at the time of an onboard booking, they get their full commission and thus can give you the full gift or perk they provide as a "thanks for booking." If you transfer a ressie to them later, they'll get a reduced commission and may reduce your benefit.

I was wondering the same thing. Does DCL still send the travel documents to the TA or do they send them directly to the guest? I would be worried that the TA may have gotten them and didn't know what they were or what to do with them.

I think I would call DCL and make sure everything is in place. I would be really worried using a TA who had never booked DCL before.

Even using a veteran travel agent, it's a good idea to check DCL's website and enter your reservation number to make sure you're actually on the "same page" so to speak.

DCL can either mail them to the TA who would normally mail them on to their client, or the Travel agent can request and have DCL mail the documents directly to their client. The direct to client option takes an extra step or two for DCL to complete but is doable. Depends on what the Travel Agent requested at the time of booking.

Our documents got lost in the mail. We live no kidding 2 exits away from the DCL corporate office and could have gone and picked up the documents faster then it took ours to get here. DCL had the option put in to mail them directly to us. We have had this done every time we have cruised because our TA knows we live in FL and she is in NY and to have them mailed to her would have normally delayed them and she rather they come directly to us to speed up delivery.

When they got lost DCL then insisted on mailing them to the Travel Agent who had to then repackage them and mail them back down here to FL. They originally were mailed around April 5th for our May 19th Cruise. We didn't get them until almost May 1st. Had I not realized that people on our cruise had all gotten theirs I would have kept waiting.

The only thing I was missing really were the luggage tags and they can tag them at the airport or the port when you get there just means you have to grab them off the baggage carousel when you land. Do your online check in print out your cruise contract and sign that. So if you don't receive them it won't be the end of the world.

Call DCL and find out when they mailed them out to you and ask if they could resend them to you directly if they had been mailed to your TA originally. Since its less then 2 weeks until your cruise.

Whether you use a new or a veteran TA documents can be lost, delivered incorrectly, etc. Things happen that are beyond anyone's control and just have to now try and rectify the situation.

I'm guessing from the way you posted the date and the use of the word "holiday" instead of vacation, that you're from outside the US. That is most likely the reason others on your cruise have received their documents and you haven't. I'm sure it takes longer to mail them to other countries. If you haven't gotten them by 2 weeks before your cruise date I would call DCL directly.

Good catch! And probably the exact reason too!

Thanks everyone, will give DCL a call.

As for why we booked with a TA at all, I really don't know. We decided to take our first cruise on a whim! Without any research. We didn't want a full package tour, so without any thought we went to a local TA who arranged the booking. Stupid really, should have looked into things first, we didn't even get a £1 in on board credit. Doh!
