There was a time when staying offsite seemed out of the question to me. Not to start a whole new "code" bashing thread, but to start one where you can do something to make yourself feel better if you haven't got one - Stay at Universal.

Don't get me wrong, I have not nearly as much interest there as I do at Disney, but you know, with all of the great discounts I'm always reading about, it seems they deserve some of my business.

I'm gonna talk it over with the wife today, and if all goes well - It will be a Universal on site stay for the first time this December.

Will Disney care? Probably not. But I admit, it'll make me feel a bit better about the entire situation.

It's a shame they can't give people a price break on the resorts. IMO, what I would save on my room, I would probably turn right around and spend in the parks. They would get their money because it would keep more people on their property...not that they don't have enough anyway.

We are considering that also. We are DVC members and are thinking about staying at a value resort for 4 nights IF the free ddp is released before moving to the BCV (2 bedroom that we have reserved). We have decided if we don't get a decent promotion, we would stay at Universal 2 nights before moving. Believe me, Disney doesn't really care whether we are there or not. They already have our DVC money. We have purchased APs for Univseral in the past. One year when we went to pick up our APs and asked to show a picture ID, hubby used his Disney CM ID (he's former now) and it didn't phase them at all because many CMs visist US/IOA. Actually most of our WDW CM friends have APs to US/IOA and Seaworld. My kids are all adults and they would really want to stay there for a couple of days, but free DDP would sway our decision. There is nothing better than FOTL access for onsite guest at US/IOA. We just hope to make up our minds before a decent airfare shows up. But, not too worried about that because I'm still waiting for a decent airfare for my April/May trip. :scared1:

Hope you enjoy your trip. Staying with Disney is similar to purchasing real estate. Sure you can get a much larger house in a different neighborhood, but location is the deal.

A Universal Discussion is OT for this board.....

There is an awesome board here for discussing Universal at the Universal Resorts & Hotels board.

Please take your discussion of Universal discounts over to the correct board.

Here is a quote from the Guidelines that you are all expected to know, understand and follow.

6. STAYING ON TOPIC: Each of the DIS boards focuses on a specific topic. Please look the choices over before posting on the wrong board. For instance, you don't want to ask about park hours on the Restaurants Board or tell everyone about your stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort on the Disney Cruise Line Board. It makes it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for when the boards stay on topic.
