No Character Dining in Cowboy Cookout in October.

Aplogies if this has already been posted on another thread, but just in case it hasn't, Cowboy Cookout will have no Characters in October.

Havn't found out yet if it will still be open for ordinary counter service or if it is closing for refurb. No information yet about November, or where Character Lunch & Tea alternatives may be. All seems a bit vague. Dining Reservations have no knowledge apart from not taking reservations for October.

I would be glad to know if anyone hears any more about this.

We are disappointed by this too. We go end November (and I think it was JothP that noticed that it wasn't in the Winter brochure at all so looked like no winter meals at all ). Out of all the meals we had in our 6 days in June, DH liked this one best! The girls loved it too (I wasn't too pleased at queuing almost 35 mins to order our CS meal though but that's a minor point ). Overall, we had a great time and it is very good value so would love to do it again.

I guess because they are just saying October perhaps it is a refurb or something? I also wonder what that place would be like when it is very cold outside? Is it a warm enough place to eat during the cold? Could that be the reason - will it be more of a summer/spring venue? I have no idea - just a thought....

Hopefully someone will be able to post something about it soon... I would have thought if this does come to an end, that they will introduce somewhere else as they always tend to have a 'value' character meal in the Park somewhere!?

This is such a shame if it is going to be closed! Last time we went we loved this place - infact it was only the other day I was being told we will be eating there a few times on our next trip in October (afraid not now!!)

About saying it might be cold in the winter - We last went the middle of February and it was open all the time and was really warm in there so don't think that would be a problem, maybe just a refurb like you said!?

Hope someone has more information soon!

Very disappointed by this, I was looking forward to trying it in February. Hopefully it's just a temporary closure or they'll be having another character meal in the park - we like to do a character meal each trip and with the so-so reviews Cafe Mickey has been getting recently we were planning on visiting here instead.

Quick update - I rang the dining reservations number and got through to an extremely lovely and very helpful lady.

First off I asked about the Dreams V.I.P meal for which she said it was too early to book for October - It is still on but they don't know the schedule time yet (despite ringing numerous Disney restaurants no-one is sure yet) She said I can book on the 14th August for the V.I.P lunch for which you still get wristbands for dreams but the dinners can not be booked till they know what time Dreams will be on in October!

Secondly I asked about Cowboy Cookout - I was told from the end of September - 1st October there will be no characters there, it is still open for so long (which leads me to think it is not a refurb?) but no character available as of yet! They will no more closer to the time!

I asked if there would be characters in another place to replace this so there is still character dining and she said it is something Disney is thinking about but they will not no exactly until the time!

I said I would ring back in September when it is closer and she said yes that is a really good idea as they will know alot more (I don't think Disney tells them too much in advance)!

I will keep you all updated if I hear anymore!

Apparently Mr Gas had said that the characters at CCB hadn't had the desired effect in terms of making that area more dynamique and managing guest flow and this is been put about as the reason for stopping the character meal

The winter season will have Café Mickey, Auberge and Inventions as the places where you can have a character meal.

thats because for a lot of the year that whole area behind the Cowboy Cookout is unused, nothing in the theatre, no River Rogue keelboats, and nothing in the Woodys Roundup area. It has so much potential, but just sticking some characters in a restaurant which was already open for counter service was never going to cut it, in my opinion.

The latest brochure I have for summer 2012 / Winter 2012 - 2013 does have cowboy cookout lunch and tea party on the Character Dining pages, but shows as not available from 8th November. So now seems there are no Characters there in October either.

I was told that Character Sunday Brunch will still be held in Inventions and The Steakhouse.

The 7th is the last day of the current season so if they are still there then (as it could change again knowing DLP ) you will be able to eat with them

RR Keelboats can only be open in summer for some reason and then it hasn't be the last 2 (3?) years now as they haven't hired anyone with the necessary permit to take the boats out ....

Woodys roundup worked really well I thought and I've no idea why it stopped.

There's also very strong rumeurs that there won't be MWW in the theatre this year either

Yes, I have heard that MWW definitely will not be on this Christmas which is a great pity.

The same source says that Fantillusion WILL be running though, although I still have some doubts about this. Crossing my fingers and everything else...

I phoned Dining Reservations the other day when a poster on Trip Advisor DLP forum could not make ADR for CC for October. The person I spoke to told me there were no Characters there in October but didn't know if it was still open for ordinary counter service, or any new alternative location for Character Lunch or Tea Party.

I have just been told that CCBBQ will no longer be a Character Dining location from 1st October, but will still be be open as a counter service restaurant.

What is Cowboy Cookout? Is it like Mickeys Backyard BBQ? I've been going to Dis twice a year for the past 7 1/2 yrs and hav nvr heard of this?

Yeah, we LOVED Woody's Roundup as we are big Buzz & Woody fans! Sad tht they took it out.
