I talked with my salesman several times in the months past and was repeatedly reassured that he would call me as soon as BLT was announced. It was announced 10 days ago and I still have not recieved a call. I know he has lots of customers. Would I be better off with a salesperson who has fewer customers? Is that why I am being ignored. I will be darned if I call him again. :rolleyes1

I have an EXCELLENT rep that would call you promptly! If you want, PM me your info and I'll call her today. I'd bet money you'd hear from her today! ;)

I'd simply call him again. I'm sure the guides are swamped, they often are when a new resort opens, and BLT has been a much anticipated location. Guides are human, they make mistakes, they sometimes forget things or lose a list they may have written down.

This is not the first time that I have not gotten a prompt response. I was just kind of interested in whether or not he treats his other customers the same way. :confused3

He is out of the office until 10/2. I would call and leave him a VM. If you want to buy b4 his return, Judy K is covering for him. Her phone number is available if you call his number.

I am having a similar problem with my guide. I am traveling down to Disney in a week and want to become a DVC member but I was unsure about where to buy. I decided I would like 120points at BLT and 110points at AKV. I was told I could buy AKV and do a 120 point add on after closing but this seems crazy to do seprately. I asked her to try to get an exemption and I have not gotten a call back in a week and I have left several messages to call me.

I have no personal experience with your guide. Most posts I've seen that mention him lead me to believe most of his members are happy with him. However, if this is a recurring problem that you have had, you are certainly able to change guides.

My original guide was out of the office the last time we added on (it was a last minute decision on our check-out day) so another guide handled the transaction, and they switched us to the "new guide". I haven't changed back, only because we haven't added on since. If we ever need a guide in the future, though, I will change back to my original guide. I'm just more comfortable with him.

I generally give guides the benefit of the doubt, but you certainly should have a guide who meets your needs and with whom you are comfortable.

Since your guide is showing to be out, he could be on the member cruise. My guide is on the cruise, but I took matters into my own hands and called him as soon as I received the email announcing sales.

If you have enjoyed your dealings with your guide, I wouldn't change. If during a very busy time for DVC, he hasn't called you about something you asked for several months ago, that's not a knock on him. I'm sure you are not the only person on his list. Its not that he may have a lot of DVC members assigned to him. He could have a lot, he may not. Its the number of people wanting to add on. Remember, he has appointments throughout the day and he will call the many people on his list as time allows. If you need it ASAP, I would call and talk to a different guide. If it can wait, call your guide once he is back in the office.

The reason may be BLT is not yet open for sales to non-members. Only existing DVC members can purchase right now. I think it opens to general sales on Oct 5? Also as a non-member, my understandig its you can not purchase110 points at AKV, it has to be exactly 100 points under a current prmotion, or the standard minimum of 160 points. For BLT, anything under 160 points is considered an add-on to an existing contract, so you have to be a existing member to puchase less than 160 points there. But you should contact your guide for clarification.

You account and contracts need to be processed in a sequence to be done correctly. Rather than take a chance of a mistake, I would buy BLT when at Disney and add AKV from home after your account is established.

I know it doesn't seem to make sense but trust me, you don't need the headache.

I would have to buy AKV first because I cant buy into BLT for 120points. That would need to be an add on. I dont see how complicated it could be to buy two resorts at the same time?

There are several people/departments/teams that will be involved in processing your account. Step 1 has to be completed before step 2, step 2 before step 3, etc.

AKV has to be completed before BLT can be added on and they are processed as separate transactions. If BLT should get processed b4 AKV, the accounting department will reject the paperwork because you didn't purchase enough points.

Bottom line... if this is really bothering you, you should think twice about becoming a member. DVC is a great program for a lot of people, but it does have it's issues and you are experiencing the tip of the iceberg.

The original guide I was assigned to years ago I did not like AT ALL. Her demeanor (or lack thereof), attitude and "aggressive" style did not work for us. So we decided to take the tour again and request a different guide. I am very happy with him and it made a huge difference changing guides.

I called him day one (he was off for 2 days) but got a call back from him immediately the morning of his return. We submitted our paperwork and payment and gave him the date to run it. That said, we decided to "up" our point purchase:goodvibes so I called him and left him a message saying we wanted more points and to call me back with new amount, down pmt. etc. This was last week and still no call back. I've left 2 voicemail messages and 2 messages with the front desk. He is suppose to run the payment on Sunday, but I told him not to until I knew how much it was going to be as I am transferring funds.

Needless to say I'm a little frustrated. I know how busy they are, but I expect a timely (not immediate) call back.
