No Buy January

I've been busy working on my Feb budget. I got my taxes e-filed today and I'm getting back almost $200 more than I had thought! :cool1: Although almost my whole return is going to our DVC down payment anyway! LOL But the extra will cover DH's trip in June to Star Wars weekends. :thumbsup2

The baby did not sleep last night very much so I'm not sure I'll be heading out to shop. I surely don't need any M&Ms no matter how cheap! LOL We will need milk though so I should use my ECBS on that to save money.

I am ready with my budget for Feb!

I spent $9.00 on a charm bracelet for the baby and $4 on a charm. That is all I've spent since Monday night! Woohhooo

Today will be another story. I cut my bangs to get them out of my eyes. Now my layers don't match and I have to get my hair cut. I am also picking up the food & decorations for the baby's birthday party.

How about "No Buy February: If You Can't Make It Through The Shortest Month In The Year On Budget You're Screwed!"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I love it!

1/26 $16 (kids bowling league, planned)

I saved money on bowling today, unfortunately it's because my 3 yo has a stomach virus so I could only take my 11yo and 10yo, the other kids had to stay home with me.

I've started thinking about Feb.'s budget and I have more planned expenses in Feb. than I did for Jan., I don't know how that happened, but at least I can work them into the budget and hopefully not spend anything else.

1/24: $26 on prescriptions for lasik, then something around $8 for tissues and nasal spray for my sick(ish) DBF

1/25: ~$230 for the balance on my lasik (the rest came out of my FSA, didn't put enough in to cover the laser cutting part of it  )

1/26: $0 I'm not leaving the house

Got my LASIK yesterday morning. From about noon (when I got home) until 3ish I was begging for DBF to just kill me. I've never been in so much pain. It was so bad that I had him call the place to see if I could do anything or if anything was wrong. They told me to keep my eyes closed (I was supposed to sleep) and put some of the refresh drops in them. It helped a little. With 5mg valium, 2 AdvilPM's and 2 doses of Nyquil I was just about paralyzed but couldn't fall asleep :rotfl: It's funny to think back on now, but OMG did it hurt! I woke up this morning feeling much better. Still have a headache and some discomfort but it's nothing like the pain I felt yesterday. I wasn't prepared for it to feel THAT bad.

With all the broken blood vessels in my eyes I look like I was beat up... good thing I have to keep these sunglasses on! :lmao:

My vision is 20:15 though according to my 8am checkup! :cool1:

No money spent today, none to be spent tomorrow as long as I don't leave the house!

well I ended up going on a quick CVS run. Didnt' really work anything good but I did get a gal of milk and the newspaper.

4 bags M&Ms
2 Reese's whips
1 gallon milk
1 newspaper

used $6 ECBs, got back $6 ECBs and paid $4.53 OOP, I didn't want to empty out my purse to find my ECBs. That's my job for tonight. I've got them everywhere so time to do some serious organization! :headache:

Holy crap! I'm amazed you can type! What fortitude, "I've just had my eyes lasered but darn it, I'm posting!" That's dedication :D I hope you heal fast,:flower3:

It has been a while since I posted here, but I have tried to stay on budget.

1/21 $0 didn't leave the house (off work)
1/22 $0 co worker bought lunch
1/23 $0 another co worker bought lunch (spent $28 for dinner out)
1/24 $16 for lunch withcoworker (my day to pay) spent $120 for groceries
(half was for Mom, she is on a fixed
income and it doesn't last all month)
1/25 $0 took a day off from work (policy use it or lose it)
1/26 Car payment in budget, gas for DH in budget and $16 at the grocery
store in budget

Our downfall is going out to dinner, but went out only 1 night, really good for us. Tomorrow should be a no spend day. I am looking for forward to February, due to knowing a little better how to budget.

Thursday 24th - $148.50 for four Kiva Loans (@ $US25 plus a donation) at Kiva.Org
Friday 25th - $0
Saturday 26th - $20 - I bought Hairspray on DVD as its just been released here on DVD and was on sale for half price. I know I will definitely watch it more than once.
Sunday 27th - $0 - except for veges & eggs at the market which came out of the grocery budget. Robert also very kindly paid for my lunch today for his Mum's birthday lunch out.

Total this month personal spending - $496.30 which now includes the cruise excursions (aka Robert's birthday present) and my Kiva Loan/Donation. I'd not planned on booking the shore excursions just yet for the August cruise but would have done them anyway so not too worried.

I'm just starting to think about February's budget and think I will aim for a bit more for my allowance to be able to contribute another few Kiva Loans - this is something I've always wanted to do and believe strongly in supporting.

Pout ... I NEVER get to spend all day in my jammies. The closest I come to it is on my day off when I am pants that COULD be jammies ... but I definately bought them in the women's section at Target. They are uber comfy, and on my days off I don't like to take them off. I actually went back and got a couple more in different colors so I could have variety. AND, I bought them on clearance.

However, I don't want to be that mom who drops her child off at preschool in her pj's.

I'm being bad with my totals ... but yesterday was a $0 ... and today I spent $16 in gas.

1/14 $277 (groceries, in budget)
1/15 $10 (notary, unplanned)

$19 helmet/tire pump (taken from homeschool budget)
1/19 $29 (bowling league, in budget)
1/20 $13 (bowling tourney, in budget)
$10 (arcade & snacks at tourney, in budget)
$22 (McDonalds, in budget)
1/21 $0
1/22 $0
1/23 $22 (homeschool field trip, in budget)
$28 (lunch on field trip, unplanned )
1/24 $40 (4 new grammar books, planned)
1/25 $0
1/26 $16 (bowling league, in budget)
1/27 $0

I should be able to make the rest of the month with zero days unless something unforseen comes up. I'm really hoping to do it, then I will have $100 to put into savings :thumbsup2 .

I'm posting my week 4 totals a little early because I have the concrete guys coming at 8:30, filling in for the teacher eating lunch with the kids at 11:30, and rehearsals for the variety show from 3 to 5. Somehow I have to squeeze in work around that, too, probably from 12-2:30 until I pick up the kids. I have no idea how I'm going to get anything cleaned, cooked, or pets walked tomorrow, but at least I'll probably have *no* time to spend money ;) .

Jan.1 $0
Jan.2 $0
Jan.3 $147 (fix car +subway)
Jan.4 $18 (movies-Enchanted-first movie in over a year with kids, used coupon, still not budgeted for )
Jan.5 $0

Jan.7 $168 (groceries + emergency breakfast stop at McD)
Jan.8 $61.70 (home maintenance, in budget)

Jan.10 $58 (gas+subway)
Jan.11 $0
Jan.12 $0
Jan.13 $164.93 (church and groceries, in budget),

Jan.15 $0
Jan.16 $0
Jan.17 $214 (lowes, ow), lunch $15, publix $94.07, dinner $26. Evidently I try to save up being bad for one day!
Jan.18. $0
Jan.19 $0
Jan. 20 $48 (it should have been zero except my dizzy self forgot the gift card!!!! )
Jan. 21 $0
Jan. 22 Alta tennis renew $20, CVS $15 (I did use a two coupons and bogos )
Jan. 23 Gas $45
Jan. 24 lunch $18 Publix $75
Jan. 25 Target $50.72 , Party City 39.74
Jan. 26 $78.82 birthday, cake 26.00, return stuff to party city -15
Jan. 27 $15 best buy (for kids, took it out of pers. care)

In terms of big picture, for week 5 here's what I have left:

Groceries $86.50 left(pretty good!)
Gas $88 left (very good!)
Dining out -80 in the hole(ooooops)
Clothing $50 left (haven't touched this category at all)
DD's Bday -$12.32 in the hole. We had a few parents want to stay and skate and it pushed it over, but it was fun to have the parents ice skating with the kids.
Personal Care $0 left
Church $25 left (this should be zero so I'm going to roll it into next month)
Home repair -$176 in the hole (oh well, stuff breaks)
Car repair -$115 in the hole(ditto)

So, if I don't spend ANYTHING more until friday I've still blown my budget by $133 bucks. I will definitely need more gas before then and more food so my best guess is that I will go over by about $200 this month.

I don't think I did terribly, but I reeeaaallly would like to have an under budget month. I did in October, but Sept, Nov and (hah) December were all over for me. Like everyone else, I'm really determined to start February but I don't want to "lose" these last four days so I'm going to work hard to keep them as low as possible until the first of Feb.

today 1/27 I spent:

$26.50 at the furniture store on a head board, well almost a headboard. I guess it must be missing something or other. Anyway I'm going to use it as a half wall when we take out the kitchen wall. It's going to be where I can put plants and such. Hard to explain but it'll look cool and for $26.50 it will be a bargain! (funny actually, they had it priced at $50. I told the guy I have $40 cash would he take that...and he said I could have it for $25 plus tax! OKAY! :rotfl: )

$7.80 at the grocery store for:
3 trash cans
2 gallons milk
4 12pks of soda
2 boxes popcorn
bunch of bananas
2 packages turkey sausage links
2 gallons windshield washer fluid
1 half gallon lemonade

definitely within budget :thumbsup2

That's it. Checked and DD's new bed is still not on sale so we wait another week. It was on sale for $60 less right before we had the money so I'm waiting for it to go on sale again because I know it was cheaper at Christmastime and I can't make myself pay full price. :rolleyes1

still have plenty in the grocery budget for the next week-ish.

:thumbsup2 Wow, some of you are doing fabulous!! Congrats. I need to put a budget together for next month, as this month I messed it up!

I have a better title for no buy feb:

No Buy February: Jammie Clad Moocher's Club

:lmao:

LOL that won't work for me as I have to get dressed and go to work. Maybe in the winter at weekends it might work except my heating bill would go through the roof if I didn't get dressed and stayed in my jammies all day. :)
