No Buy August

I'll have to do this next time I buy something.

Well I spent $499.50 on our WDW hotel but I canceled a more expensive ressie. so I saved money today ...er... I think? I am confused as to this situation because it overrides previous purchases.

Also, would I deduct the amount I earned on the card rebate? That is $5.00 toward an oil change.

And then what if I buy something but am getting a rebate in 4-6 weeks?

And what if my stock matures? Does Monopoly count?:confused3

Here's what August looks like so far for me: Spent: $1,347.29 Left: -$652.71

Chase Disney Visa offered us a $66/night at Hilton Head, I booked us for two nights in early November but I decided to cancel it because there are just a lot of things we're spending on right now, and we have the big family trip in early Dec to WDW anyway, so that's on my to-do list for today to cancel. It would be nice to check out the beach in Nov, but I feel like I need to dial it down a bit with the spending.

It was so alluring-the points rate for Hilton Head with DVC is 40, which equates to about $400 on a Saturday night for a studio :scared1:, the idea of getting it for $66-I was like, oh that's such a good deal! But it's really not in the budget overall (add food and gas for that long weekend), so regretfully I'm going to have to let it go.

Now if Disney could have given that rate out for early October, I think I would have shuffled other things around because we can still go to the beach in bathing suits and swim in Oct in GA. No biggie, though.

Seriously thinking about designing a "No Buy" logo...

Oh, hey, about the eating out costs-we have really embraced the "water with lemon" ordering, we all do it automatically, now. It saves us an average of $10 whenever we eat out, the kids don't get spazzy from the sugar, and it's really good for DH's and my waistline (esp. DH who tended to drink 2 or 3 sodas with a meal). We don't drink soda at home, and the kids always ask for extra lemons and enjoy squeezing them all into the water , so it's entertainment for them...

Yes, we are cutting and pasting. If you highlight all the text you want, then hold down the Ctrl key and the "C" - that is the shortcut to copy. Once you make your new post, hold down the Ctrl key and the "V" and it will paste all your copied text.

I'm now thinking I will postpone the purchase of new photo software. Without that, we're going to be well under budget this month. :thumbsup2

Ok, I created a no buy logo, here's the image:

Tell me if you like it or it stinks...

8/18 - $2.99 shipping on a Veggie Tales movie.

Definitely take it and use it as much as you want, I created it for y'all :)

I know, I TRIED to fit lizards in, but I just couldn't figure how to make it work in a sensible manner. The lizards aren't sensible in real life so why would they cooperate for the budget board? :rotfl2:

I kind of like the flame-ish color because I'm always thinking my credit card is on fire by the end of the month...

to copy it, right click on the logo, left click "properties" you'll see this code: http://i744.photobucket.com/albums/xx82/kickapoojoiejuice/nobuy2.jpg. Highlight and copy that code.

Then you go to your user CP, click "edit signature" and click on the little postcard icon. then copy the above code into the dialog box that opens up and hit ok. Then save your signature.

8/20-$55 Sam's, $32 Old Navy, $5 ice cream

Yesterday, I had DS home with me because he had a "fever" per his preschool (none when I scanned him, but whatever I was off so we had a Mom day:goodvibes) I needed to do a quick Sam's run and then it was off to Old Navy for $10 jeans. DS was so good as I tried three different sizes on him, and even though he asked for about 10 different things between the two stores, he didn't whine when I told him no. So, after shopping, I treated him to some ice cream at Marble Slab.

I was so proud of him, and I would've bought the soccer ball because DH killed our old one, but I'm trying to start warding off the wannas before we get to WDW next month. He turns 5 on the trip and I think this will be the first trip he really starts asking for all that cool junk!

Hoping there won't be any spending for the rest of the month!

DD9 is better, DD10 still has a gross cough but no fever and felt ok so they both went to school today. I had a lot of proofreading to catch up on. :thumbsup2

Working on invitations for DD9's sleepover birthday. That's right up there with lizards for dumb things that I agree to.

I spent $128 today :( Some of the things were school supplies ($50 of supplies for preschool??), an oil change $17 in clothes for me (I really need clothes, I look pitiful) and two videos for the baby. She didn't need them but we are driving 1500 miles RT to Disney so those suckers are going in the dvd player.

I'll have to break it down later. I know the videos and clothes were a splurge, but everything else was needed. What I'd like to do is figure out how to reduce the price of the things we HAVE to have.
